    Waiting for SYD - KL.

  • +1

I've been waiting for this to come for a long time! woohoo!

  • -4

Thats $99 before leaving taxes, fuel surcharge, and $21 15kg bag prebook fee?

    • +2

Nope. ALL IN meaning that it includes all taxes. But yes baggage is extra.

  • +4

    Waiting for decent perth deals

    • Me too! I'm looking at the dreaded time of Christmas / New Year! Hoping something cheap comes up!

    • What's the problem with Adelaide?
AirAsia is committed to serve (take profit) from all Aussie major cities.
      This is win-win for all.

I don't see anything particularly good about KUL compare to ADL. However, KUL is a hub to explore many other Asian cities.

Because in Adelaide we are used to getting nothing in terms of service from airlines? This is:
      1) a great price
      2) Great for Adelaideans considering before this we've needed to get to melbourne just to go overseas (without paying a fortune).

  • +1

Any idea of when flight dates are? Mobile site doesn't have adl at all

    • +1

      Fly from 30 October 2013 to 5 August 2014

    • I don't see ADL on the desktop site either, lol, bit hard to book/check without it.

      • sale tickets don't go on sale till 1:30am

  • I'm after 3 cheap tickets from syd to KL hope airasia has a deal soon

  • does anyone know if airasia flys from Syd to KL and to KK?

    • Not to or from syd but they fly to kk from malaysia.

U can get brunei airways straight to kk

      • thankyou! I used to fly from syd to kk via kl by brunei airline but it doesn't fly from syd any longer.

A note of caution to prospective passengers. It does not seem that AirAsia does their market research about properly measuring demand before they open new routes. So if it turns out to be a flop, they will reschedule, or cancel flights or the entire route as they see fit, and stranded passengers are left to struggle to get their refunds. It can especially hurt if you have a special reason for travel, connecting flights, or non-refundable accommodation bookings. With all of this in mind, when their flights do happen, they are not a bad airline. read their facebook page for a glimpse of the frustration of others.

Adelaide has had a lot of extra international seats come online in the last 18 months.

That said, I think the airlines have been pretty happy with the load factors.

    • need a very good travel insurance to offset the effect of the LCC practice! Of course, not the one that an LCC offers and takes commissions!

  • "Build it, and they shall come." Private enterprise 101

    • Not the case with chinas real estate

Still waiting for a Sydney - Kuala Lumpur flight.

    • Their best deals for this route are often for their sales for 8 - 12 months in advance. (Their Business Model is based on a certain number of impulse buyers and dropouts) From memory their last Sale Ex Syd was for travel 2014 about Feb to Aug, I think (Syd to Bangkok return $390 + seat + bag + food). And their general pricing seems to be that close to the flight dates you will pay more than for a 'full service' airline. Just my opinion/impression.

    • better take Scoot SYD-SIN and find another ticket from SIN to KUL.

I find that AirAsia keep their price just below the full service counterpart. If you can take stopover, sometimes it is cheaper to book full-service airline!

Scoot might end up doing the same stuff in the near future.

      • Not from MLB though, Airasia hovers around the $280 mark and specials make it a steal. No full service airline will get you to KUL for under $400+ one way

        • True for that route

However, I can find examples where AirAsia is not the best.

          • BKK(BMK)-NRT(HND) or Okinawa

AirMacau and Hong Kong Airlines are doing better. These two are full service airlines.

          • BKK-SIN

          Tiger/JetStar are sometimes cheaper…

          • SYD-BKK

Sometimes, it is cheaper to take China Southern, China Airlines, Vietnamese or Malaysian than to take direct flight (TG,QF,EK,BA). The AirAsia price is comparable to these full service airline when food+baggage+CC fee+insurance are added.

I'm not saying that AirAsia is bad but be cautious that it is the most efficient and most expensive among LCCs. Sure, LCCs are generally (or on average) cheaper than full service airlines. On average does not imply on every single cases.

        • I agree with SummerMan, as always, do you research well, and take into account added costs (not included in the advertised price) for seat selection, food, baggage, and AirAsia high booking fees.
Close to the travel dates I have seen AirAsia return fare higher than Full Service Airline. AirAsia's one way fares are always good though for doing a circular trip rather than a direct return trip.

  • 800 AUD for the missus, myself and our infant. done deal!

    • where to?

      • +3

        Adl-Whyalla

        • Dont be silly, ADL-KUL return.

  • 504 AUD to KL for two!

Any recommendations on a good travel insurance?

    • +1

I like Southern Cross and Cover More.

    • +2

check cost of 1cover. Usually very competitive (but A lot of credit cards include FREE travel insurance if you book your outward flight using that credit card)

      • Thanks for the replies and recommendations SirFlibbed and peck :)

  • $363 ADL- Ho CHi Minh City! Yeh Boi!
Damn that Credit card fee hurts, $32….

    Then Just booked
    3X Adults ADL-Bali $1011
And $96 in credit card fees…

Grrr If I only had my bank account still linked to paypal…

$128 in credit card fees in 1 day is not a bad effort,

    • $16 per flight as a CC fee is a bit rude. The fee should be based on the total not the number of flights x people flying! You can't use Bpay or funds transfer, only Paypal for DD. Not surprising but leaves a bad taste for me as it's not very open and honest.

The "All In" thing is a laugh too, does not include meals, entertainment, blanket, pillow, water, bags, seat allocation*, and of course CC fee per seat. I accept that many of those things are optional but it's misleading to call it All In rather than Base Fare.

      *If you fly solo it's no problem, but if you don't pay the minimum $15 per set to allocate there is a high chance you will not be sitting as a group even if you made a group booking;
      http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g1-i10702-k4656515-A…

Add to that that they randomly cancel flights, and often take 6 months to refund, people should book with care. (see their own facebook pages for details).

      • There is no credit card fee when paying with paypal

        • But will your credit card international travel insurance cover you when the billed via paypal instead of AirAsia X directly?

        • Check your credit card insurance t&c.

With mine its fine… it just says at least $500 of your pre-paid international travel must be charged to the card. it doesn't say if its from the airline directly or via paypal.

My bank's statement says "AIRASIA X XXXXX AU" when paying via paypal where XXXXX is my booking reference.

        • Can only pay via DD threw pay pay, (outta you bank account)
          not via credit..

so cheap, can pull a sickie off work and leave the country for a week.

    • Haha and come back to work with a tan

  • sad to see no MELB-KL deal……..

AirAsia usually have deals for other cities(AU) when they launch new route! :(

    • mate, use Tiger from MEL to ADL or other cities! You are lucky to have Tiger there.

  • Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions to get to the UK cheaply from KUL now that Air Asia no longer fly to europe?

    • Depends how long you have…

Buy a bike in KL and ride there?

      Walk and hitchhike?

    • need to go premium airline from KL round trip. going to do this myself. malaysian, etihad, emirates are options. i'm waiting for their sales now.
