  • $449 at MSY, seems a decent price

Worth upgrading from a GTX570OC to this?

    • +2

If your 570 is feeling the strain of newer titles then yes, probably worth it (this is broad info, doesn't take any OC into account).

You're the one who really has to decide though, if what you've got is still doing the job then maybe wait for the next round of cards or perhaps look at the 780/Titan when they start to drop to sensible levels.

      • It's just starting to show some minor strain but not enough to warrant an upgrade - given the difference in performance between the two. Thanks for that link.

I also hadn't taken into the account the shipping prices.

      • Considering a new DT build, currently using a asus N61J lappy (ATI-5730), 90% highest requirement is iRacing, bit of FC3 on low.
How long would you expect before 780/Titan comes down to similar pricing Foo?
Or would this be as good as it gets for awhile, atleast 12mths?
        Ta
edit; postage would be to Perth

Please do not link to hwcompare.com. It is just ad-drowned linkbait, no actual info beside specs - tells you almost zero about real-world performance.

Plenty of sites have actual benchmarks, like:
        http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/555?vs=518

(Looks about 50% faster, so maybe worth it, maybe not)

    • Thinking the same thing. Will probably wait for the 780

    Darwin - $99

    ouch.

    • +38

Postage is always cheaper within Australia :P

    • +3

The $99 is a mistake - should only be $27

  • +1

Is now the time to upgrade?

    GTX560

    • +2

      Good time as any.

  • +3

How heavy is the damn graphics card? Those shipping prices are a total rort.

    • Weight isn't too bad, it's the massive box. You'd need a decent sized case to fit it in.

      • You don't need a "massive box" to put a graphics card in. The retail boxes for them are not gigantic by any means. Ok, they are pretty big but not massive at all and does not justify these shipping prices.

    • +1

Yeah, I don't understand why it would cost $100 to post a box to darwin, that is ridiculous.

      I calculated using AusPost from brisbane to darwin for a package L 30cm W 20cm H 15cm
Weight 1.2kg (rough, conservative estimates), regular post was like $25 at most…

I highly doubt anyone from darwin will be seeking business from Computer Alliance.

      • +7

It's danger money for the postie.

  • +6

I think more appropriate would be save $50, not save $150.

    • +2

Agreed. MSY have it for $449. So with postage to Melb, you'd only be saving $32.
Good deal if you're in Brisbane tho!

      • +1

I live like 400m down the road, so Computer Alliance deals are always handy.

Unfortunately they very rarely have better prices than umart which is all of a couple of kilometers in the other direction and I spend less time waiting at the counter at umart than CA so it negates the extra travel time anyway. I dont think I'm CA's target market anyway… I know what part I want, so I just want to buy it and leave. Not wait half an hour so I cant sit down at a desk and have a long and involved conversation with a sales rep about the pros and cons of 42 different varieties of USB mouse.

I have a PS4 paid off in EB and two games also paid off, I'm seriously considering getting my $$ back and upgrading my rig. There's no reason to pay the OTT prices for console games any more.

      • +3

Especially when you can get a whole bunch of games off Steam/GMG etc for a fraction of what a PS4/PS3 game costs.

    • +2

hehe, have fun with monthly subscriptions just to play with some online friends

the xbox one almost went anal on every gamer by their draconian DRM rules, but they pulled a fast one out, good job Ballmer!

  • +10

I didn't know Darwin customers get free bricks with the promotion.

the postman is going on a wild adventure

    Must. Resist. Great. Bargain.

The GTX680 Gigabyte SOC version was around $399 not that long ago, so looks like the GTX680 cards are being cleared out at the moment. I'd still say that at this price, it's probably better to hit up a GTX670, which are around $300 on staticice.

    • Thanks for that info Paul, so confusing keeping up with this stuff unless watching it everyday, so easy to jump at what you thinks a bargain.

  • Ive got a 3gb Radeon 7950. Are these cards an upgrade on that? Or would it be a sideways step? I had a GTX460 before this and much preferred the NVidia card. Seemed to have no performance hit on duplicating the primary display which was great for having it hooked to the living room tv for the games i like to use my 360 controller in.

But if its not much of an upgrade il just wait.

    • +2

its an upgrade, but not worth the money from a 7950

  • $399 on the web site now. Wah?

  • Shame, it's not 4GB preferably…

  • +1

The GTX670 was only $299 a short while ago from the same store (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106397)

For $100 cheaper, you can get only slight minor performance about 10% FPS decrease, doesn't justify the hundred bucks difference.

For a price tag of $399 might as well get GTX770 for about $50-60 more (http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=gtx+770&spo…)

      Hi rep,

Could you do a deal on the expired above for x2 GTX670s with shipping to Canberra?
