      • Ouch, yeah once the page blanked out, I checked my bank account to avoid refreshing and resubmitting the order. I just got the email, so all good :) Although, if Sony does end up honoring the deal, you can probably sell the spare one for a profit… Regardless, I'm happy with just one ;)

    • +1

My confirmation took about an hour to come through….give it time or just keep checking "my orders" in your sony account.

  • Thanx op :)

  • Need some help here….

For ppl choosing Bpay, what is the customer reference number? My screen went blank when processing my order then I received the confirmation email out of the blue. But there was no mention of the customer reference number.

I have got the biller code from the order history, but not the customer reference number. Is the reference number the order number? When I tried to pay via BPay, error msg came up saying incorrect reference number..what should I do?

    • you will get it with the confirmation email , it took awhile :)

      • Hi tondyd3

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have got the order confirmation email with order number (H299xxxxxx), is this the customer reference number? Or should the customer reference number come in another email?

Thanks heaps for your help =)

        • Your most welcome , and yes i understand the excitement toward the deal . It not the order number . when you actually log into Bpay from your prefer net Bank . Enter biller code: 52092
          - it Sony online store code and enter BPay reference number: ———— <= from your confirmation email . Hope this help

  • Out of stock. All these purchases will also be refunded. Can promise you.

    • i know , it been out of stock since the clock tick 5 mins after i post the deal but they allow us to back order ? it wouldn't hurt to give a try i may say :) after all it from Sony official store so we can trust our money safe ;)

      • It's not worth the headache; It'll be another Harvey Normal vs Dan Murphy $1 Bourbon deal.

All transactions will be cancelled; refunded and there will be a bitching session and "ACCC" threats for the next week. Same old same old.

        My reason for the negative:

        • Having to listen to complaining about dishonored deals from past till tomorrow and on-wards. OzBargainers are quick to judge people about giving a discounted petrol coupon (16c/L) "People will loose their job" bla bla, but don't have the brain to work out that this is going to turn out like every other deal. $99 Inclusive of postage would be no room for profit after tax and costs.

Couldn't care about the negative votes, once you get the e-mail notifying you of the refund and cancelled ordered (as I've pointed out twice already on 2 different deals.) you'll see my point.

        • +7

But it is still worth a try. One result is getting one psv with 99 dollars, the other one is getting refund. Nothing is lost. Also for big company, they will do this sometimes. So when the money is safe, it is worth a try. Also thanks for your advice.

"Having to listen to complaining about dishonored deals"
Who's forcing you to listen? Close the thread and get on with your life.

I got the Dan Murphy's and the 16c/l petrol deal, so I'm always up for trying. Worst case, I get a refund - even if I need to pursue it through my CC company.

        • Here here.
And look below… Seems you were right!!

    • Well, seems like you were right

  • just order one, still back order, thanks OP

  • +2

Meh theres no good games on the VITA anyway except for a few remakes of games on other systems.

    http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/v…

    • +4

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I've got plenty of games for my Vita and I still play it every day. Get a cheap vita with PS+ and you're all set.

  • +2

It's highly likely that the deals will be honoured. PS Vita sales have been struggling and this will give a big boost to PS vita game sales and PS+ membership sales.

Even if it is a mistake, it's a good marketing strategy.

    • It is a little sad that the PSP is still outselling the Vita.

      http://www.vgchartz.com/

      • That is very sad. Fortunately Sony are pushing the integration with PS4 so the sales should go up.. Theoretically.

      • haven't kept in the loop with handhelds but what is the diff between psp and the vita?? and which would be a better option to go with? and what's this integration with the PS4 deal?

        • +1

          PSP vs Vita

          • Vita is bigger & more powerful: 5inch screen & <=2ghz quad core
          • Vita has a few unique controls, dual analog twiddle sticks, rear touchpad, front touchscreen.
          • PSP has a larger games library, but is probably reaching end of life. Whereas Vita is new, and has an ever growing games library, and hopefully a boost when the PS4 is released.

I would (personally) suggest a Vita, especially if you intend on getting a PS4.

          Playstation 4 integration

          • Some games will support using the Vita as a second screen to display things like maps, inventory etc, pretty much wait and see
          • improved Remote Play, every game on the PS4 can be played remotely over the network onto the Vita

Disclaimer: Vita is my first/only portable gaming device, never owned a PSP, thus probably biased.

        • Thanks for the breakdown summary.

THe PSP and Vita games are not cross-border compatabile (figures)? Also what is this about the PS4 thing that I've heard about before - what, will we be able to play the game from both the PS4 on the vita? Abit confused as I haven't really read into the PS4 - I was thinking of getting a PS3 as I had the PS1 and never really played the PS2 (i bought for final fantasy 10), so I figured it wasn't worth buying a PS3 to catchup and play FF13 etc, so I'd skip straight to PS4.

Or will the Vita compatability thing only be for the whole maps/side accessory as you stated (maps, inventory etc) as opposed to actually being able to play the ps4 games on there?

Oh wait re-readt he last line, so it looks like you can wifi/stream games effectively onto the vita? But not port the vita around in the car then if you want to play your ps4 games?

How much are Vita games normally? Was it just released last yr?

        • A lot (if not all) of the PSP games are re-released on the Vita.

The Remote Play/streaming thing is basically using your Vita as the PS4 controller & screen, ie, the game runs on the PS4 and it's video output is streamed to the Vita, whilst the Vita sends back what it's buttons/controls are doing (the PS4 will need to be turned on). This is different to the 'using your Vita as a second screen' thing.

The main selling point for this feature would be the ability to continue playing your games even when somebody else is using the TV. The WiiU had the same feature? You can probably use this feature over 3G, but it'll be expensive.

Probably important to note is the PS4 has no backwards compatibility with PS3 disc games. Sony something something about PS3 games can run on the PS4 via Sony's Gaikai streaming service, probably at some cost. Idk.

Games are about $40-50 for new release, check the Sony store for the prices of downloadable games. If you watch Ozbargain there are the occasional deals for games. Vita was released start of 2012.

If you plan on getting a PS3 or PS4, then definitely become a Playstation Plus subscriber (the PS4 even requires it for online play). This will give you 2 PS Vita games (& other things) a month that you can play for as long as you keep subscribing

  • It's kinda good that I missed this, cause I probably would have bought it without even thinking about it.

  • Very sad I missed this deal…. damnit.

  • +3

how many hours or days do we have before the order is cancelled if paying via Bpay?

  • GOT A CONFIRMATION EMAIL!!! Hopefully Sony will honour this deal! THANKS OP!!!!!!!!!

  • +1

Anyone's credit card get debited, but still waiting for a confirmation email?

    • +1

Yep, card got debited but got no confirmation email and nothing in order history

    • +1

No conf e-mail and nothing in order history.

    • +1

      yep, no email, no confirmation

    • same here. cc get debited. no email, no order history. Anyone called sony yet?

    • ditto.

  • Confirmation emails mean nothing , same thing happened when I ordered in HN , they can cancel it just like that :(

  • Good luck guys. I missed out :P

  • +3

People who get through with this might consider buying this memory card pack. 8gb is nothing if you plan to buy games digitally or even PS+. But its still a good deal for an extra card if you use multiregion accounts etc plus you get free games like LittleBigPlanet and Wipeout2048.

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/ps-vita/ps-vita-8gb-memo…

    • +3

no point of getting it now.

  • The wifi model is now listed as "archived" on the site, which might suggest it's going out of production soon?

If that's the case, then keep a lookout for other retailers who begin to clear their wi-fi Vita stock. Fingers crossed for this one.

    • I doubt they would sell at $99. Could be wrong though….

Even so, PS4 will use Vita a lot so I am not sure why they are out of production…. unless a new Vita version is coming out…

  • there was a legit sony staff flash sale a couple of weeks ago where they were selling the vita for $99, but they only had like 20 in stock… so don't get your hopes up about getting one, they may have only had a few in stock left to clear out, yet hundreds would have likely tried to order after being ozbargained

  • It's a no go people (for back-orders anyway). I just received this email:

"Thanks for participating in Sony's PS Vita special staff clearance which has been running for the past two weeks but unfortunately you missed out.

We've sold out, concluded the clearance and your Back-order for this product will be cancelled.

Your credit card payment has not been taken for this order - the money is being held as preauthorisation with your bank. The sum will be credited back to your credit card within 72 hours, depending on the bank."

  • Got the email confirming back orders wont be honored :(

So the PS vita sale has been going on for the past two weeks?

I see some greedy ozbargainers out there.

  • +3

Was always going to be hit and miss …

Oh well, win some you lose some

Grats to the people that were able to secure one

    Onto the next OzB deal!

  • Only orders that were placed while stock existed will be honoured. Well done to those few that got in while stocks lasted.

  • I half expected this to happen so I held out on the Assassin's creed for $20. Finally decided to buy it and received the Sony cancellation email 30 seconds after the Assassin's creed confirmation email.

Oh well. Guess I'll have to wait til next time.

    • +4

Not only that, but you gotta go back to sleeping on the couch.

      • Not to mention no Vita either!

    • +1

Aww sorry :( but good things is you can now save the "told you so" to use another day ;) i'm sure it will come around then

  • +1

Wondering if tondyd3, the OP, was able to get in himself since he was probably the first one who saw it.

    • yes i managed to get one with not much traffic …. just lucky i might said , good luck next time and thank you for join the fun ;)

  • Who used Bpay, not CC, and got the email? I wonder how easy that'll be for them to refund?

      • Sent them an email with the information they needed. Lets see how long it'll take for the refund.

    • i used Bpay yesterday, now waiting for the cancellation email.
      so sad ~~~

  • just saw the email
i'm glad i didn't pay yet …since there was no point in paying straight away since was on backorder anyway …feel bad for those that need to wait for their money :(

  • It has began, now waiting for the inevitable, that impending cancellation email. It was fun while it lasted

  • +2

definitely fun while it lasted! :)
bringing all ozbargainers together is always great <3 you all

  • Got the cancellation email too here…

Too bad… it was a great opportunity for Sony to win customers…

    Anyway it was fun-ass..

    • +4

Good one. Just because some missed out and people decided to place orders when it specifically said out of stock does not mean this isn't a good deal.

    • +6

Well then, i will neg you too.
      Stop taking things for granted.
buying something cheap, sometimes we need the luck too.
I spent more than an hour on this deal too, but i will never neg the op because first it is good to share, second the op didn't do anything wrong at all.

    • Sorry you didn't get one :( i don't mind neg or pos , its my 1st post so feed back is more than welcome ;) but that to say the unspoken rule for the term BARGAIN is you have to be there at the right time sadly . i reckon there about ~500 clicks before items go out of stocks so i guess it all matter of luck . Cheers

    • Well, to be fair and objective, the bargain simply had little to no stock. I'm not down voting it but I did revoke my positive vote. Nothing personal. Fact is, almost no one got the bargain so it doesn't deserve a negative, but it also doesn't deserve a positive. It's just like the Dick Smith sale.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Aw well was worth a shot n e way

  • Did anyone get one prior to being on back-order?

  • +13

My best mate works at Sony.
This was posted in July 15th I told him about it today.

    He forwarded me this:

    Hey (my name)
Yeah Sony has been abuzz all day about the crazy online attempts to buy the vita for $99.

It was a staff sale from about two weeks ago. They sold out day two. So no one will be getting the units even if they haven't been told yet. (Apparently the system is missing email addresses when sending the cancelation emails)

The wifi unit is end of life, that's why they clearing them.
They were mostly refurb returns anyways not new units.
When we were invited to the sale that was explained to us in the email.

See what you mean about OzB though,, crazy!!!

    Cheers man
    See u soon

    (His name)

  • still no cancellation… :(

    • Same, don't know if I should be worried

  • I used Bpay as soon as i got confirmation email, but on Delivery Status, it is still 'Despatch Pending'
I havent gotten any emails after that, does anyone get their PS vita?

    • i still haven't got any emails too, i contacted sony see what they say.

  • Anyone who paid by credit card receive their money back yet?

    • I paid via Bpay, emailed them. No email back, and no refund either.

      • same, i guess we might have to wait for a while….
