    PLEASE NOTE: Content available on the Amazon Store varies by country, meaning that a lot of content that is available in the United States, is not available in countries like Australia.

    You cannot download apps from the Amazon Appstore, or purchase digital music or videos from the device in Australia. You should experience no difficulties using the devices ebook functionality in Australia.

    Just makes it another Android tablet

    I would think buying a nexus 7 would be better.

      Why not just get a cheap android tablet and install Kindle app and Amazon app store on it.

        And support google who at least make an effort not to comply with US spying on its own and the world's citizens, and also does the same for China, rather than Amazon who take down Wikileaks at the drop of a hat simply because someone right wing cronie calls them 'terrorists' when all they are doing is educating the public about how bent their govt is about covering up the killing of civilians among other things

      A Nexus 7 is still slightly more expensive than the Fire HD. But without Prime benefits the Fire HD in Australia is missing one of its key advantages.
