A good price. You can find them for a fair bit cheaper than 200-odd dollars but its still a good price particularly with free shipping.

These are the pressure cookers recommended by Ozbargain's top-ranked tightarse realfamilyman:-

  • I'm not sure which specific models, but this brand of pressure cooker is one of only two that makes pressure cookers that are safe for cooking with oil (ie: you can home-make fried chicken)(try that with most pressure cookers and you will die AND it will hurt continuously while you are dying!). I wonder if these are the ones, might be worth checking out.

    • NO! Under no circumstances should you try to use any pressure cooker as a pressure fryer. Pressure frying can reach temps of 400c or more that will cause seals on a normal pressure cooker to melt and fail and will cause your face to burn off in the process if you are close enough.

Fagor DO make a pressure fryer called the Fagor Pressure Magic. This device has added safety measures such as a steel bar across the lid to stop the cooker from exploding. They strongly recommend NOT using any other model as a pressure fryer.

  • Bought the 9.5 from them last week for $172 so it is only $10 off there normal price. $10 is better than nothing.

If you sign up before you buy they will email a $5 voucher to use.

Eating a chicken caserole cooked in the Fagor as i type this, 20 minute cook time tastes really good.

  • Thanks OP Got 1
