Please note that the URL points to my web store (that sells security products) and not my usual eBay listing for this type of item. This might seem slightly odd but it gets you a better deal (eBay fees are too high these days).

If your plants are looking a bit sick, this LED grow light is a unit which can be used to grow your indoor plants, or provide lighting for a hydroponic garden. It's great for indoor gardening enthusiasts, and especially handy to keep your plants growing during the winter months. The unit also includes a hanging kit so you position the unit up above.

Inside are 45 lamps operating at 3 watts each, based on a red blue configuration. Some say this means its 135 watts in total, but in fact it's power is 90w. Other lamps you might search for also claim to be 90w (90 lamps x 1 watt), but these are less efficient and actually only operate at 80w. In summary, the higher the wattage of each bulb, the brighter the result.

Please see the URL for the full specifications.

This item will ship from Perth.

If you want to compare prices, compare against 45 x 3w. EG:

Hello my name is Dr Greenthumb…

How much heat do these lights emit?

The DEA uses heat imagery to detect "houses of interest" will these lights give out a lot of heat??

      DEA in Australia??

    • Let's presume your question is for a legitimate cause: Unlike other grow lights, LED lights emit a minimal amount of heat. While they are slightly warm to the touch, they will not significantly raise the temperature of the growing area. Additionally, plants can be grown closer to the lighting without concern for scorching or burning.

The DEA operates internationally as well as domestically for those who do not know.

Of course my usage is legitimate - but I'd rather the DEA didn't knock my door in to discover my hydroponic lettuce farm…

These lights seem great for avoiding unwanted attention.

Unless you're trafficking your home grown goods to the US, the DEA has absolutely no interest in you and your small-time backyard cultivation. I'd be more worried that the local police will be knocking on your door.

Details of the DEA's international operations: http://www.justice.gov/oig/reports/DEA/a0719/final.pdf

        • Growing lettuce in your backyard/house in Australia has abosultely NOTHING to do with the DEA. It's not even AFP jurisdiction.

          It's state police.

The ONLY time AFP will get involved is if its large scale (importable/exportable quantity). Same with the DEA, and even then you better be importing craploads of the stuff to the USA.

Either way, if you are interested in buying $100 lights… chances are your operation in lettuce growing isnt going to warrant and time and resources of national organisations. Your local police?? Well that's a different story.

Actually in Oz, they cops get power data from energy suppliers to detect grow houses.
90W(I really don't't know how they calculate that as 45 x 3 watt does equal 135watt. ) an additional 90w/h wouldn't raise any eye brows, that's for sure.
