  • Seems like a decent deal given the inclusion of the operating system and the free shipping. Being branded it is likely that the case is also decent (usually a problem with cheap no-brand pc's).

  • only USB 2.0 ports!, 8 of them too

I dont think it's a deal at all. Compare with this $500 system + $100 64 bit windows. Compared to this linked deal, the OP deal is outdated crap.

For $100 extra you get twice the PC.

    • True, those specs are better, but shipping to WA was $75. So you're talking a $175 difference. It did not have keyboard and mouse, so add another $30 to the difference.
The one in this deal is from a respectable brand and comes with on-site warranty.

    • Pity that $500 deal isn't available any more Gunnny - its now $549….

Plus the $500 deal had a POS 500gb hard drive in it (which is why they wouldn't let you upgrade coz they wanted to dump their old crap).

The on-site warranty alone has to be worth at least $70… Good luck taking your busted PC back to CPL if you don't live in Victoria…

      So:
      Windows $100
      Warranty $70
      Keyboard/mouse $30
      Price increase $49

So you are paying $249 "for twice the PC" (with 1/2 the hard disk) more for the system you love if you add Windows, the keyboard/mouse and an on-site warranty… And even then it sill has a POS hard disk in it and you have all the fuss of installing Windows and drivers etc….

You just won't let that $500 one go….

    • I for one say Gunnny is getting WAY too trigger happy on his negs. Two recently for PC deals that he didn't feel stacked up against his $500 (now $549) "Dream Machine" with the POS 500gb hdd…

The fact is this system is $46 cheaper than the next cheapest price on staticice for the same system. That suggests it is a good deal if you want this system.

If you are a computer pro like Gunnny obviously is, then maybe this isn't for you.

But if you want a basic non-gaming PC that works straight out of the box, with windows pre-installed, with drivers pre-installed, with a keyboard/mouse and the comfort of a big name brand and an on site warranty - this PC is probably a good deal for you.

Sick of negs because the system offered doesn't meet Gunnny's personal expectations.

It would be like someone negging an IPAD deal on the basis that you can get a better specced Android for the same price….

With $500, we can get a fast laptop with better specification plus USB3.0 & HDMI.

Or even $350 with the recent DSE Asus clearanace deal- Had i5 and dedicated graphics.
This is pretty av. Oh and I really dont want W8. 7 would be a seling point for me

My thoughts exactly - esp as this system is monitor-less. For that matter, you could prob even get a 20" monitor with a laptop with specs like this and still come out around $500, basically making it a desktop.
