    Bargain.
I assume they only have black?

    • +1

      Always bet on black.

Gloss black is repulsive, in my opinion.

If they make the main unit in gloss and not matte, I'd rather have it in white, which - while not ideal - is far less repulsive than gloss black.

I'm still waiting for the tv manufacturers to show some sense in this department too.

        • +4

Sounds like you're the only one who hates black…

Better than the silver trend they had going for TVs/Stereos/Tech a decade and half ago

        • Don't mind black though it's not my first choice; I dislike reflective piano black. Gloss on white looks more palatable (fingerprints, scratches, dust and reflections are less apparent). Both not ideal compared to matte surfaces.

you shouldn't be touching your TV anyway.

        • you shouldn't be touching your TV anyway.

And the TV's cabinet (or any other gadget that can be matte) shouldn't be reflecting distracting light at me coming from the window or lights. If the manufacturers had any clue.

  • must.. resist…

  • What is the original price?

  • +1

Got me excited - for a moment there I thought it was a (better) copy of the awesome Dick Smith Wii U deal that sprung today ($149 for basic, $199 for premium). Ah well, this is still a nice price.

Tangentially related: I saw BigW started their toy sale today, too. Hoping to see some cheap LEGO.

    • Dick Smith Wii U deal

Where did you see this? Checked DSE & Lasoo webz, but don't see it…

    • Is that NZ only?

      • Ya NZ. Totally forgot to add those all too important letters in that post!

        • So do we know if it's a mistake or if it's coming to Aus or what? That price seems ridiculous cheap for a premium model.

        • At this point unknown, except to say definitely not a mistake. Seems like DSNZ were just clearing house, similar to what they did for the Gamecube.

No idea if a similar price is coming to this side of the ditch, though.

        • That seems more reasonable guy above seems convinced the sale is coming here.
How do I get paged incase it comes to Aus? lol

        • why are they clearing the Wii U? it's not like Nintendo is releasing Wii 3 this year ><

but i gotta say…. DSE NZ is sooo hip on this deal :D

        • Haha, I don't know how you would be paged. I have heard since that apparently DSENZ have cut ties with Nintendo as a distributor and are looking at getting out of the gaming division altogether, atleast in NZ.

I guess there is a good chance that this may spill over into Aus soon, too. Wait and see.

  • edit:

  • Are any game stores offering any ridiculous "trade in your old console!!!" deals? That's how I got my PS3 and 360 dirt cheap from game.

Picking up a Wii for $99 for a tradein might be an option.

    • +1

My guess is that you won't be ahead. Didn't they recently clear Wii stocks for $50?

I'd give them a call before making the plunge:
      https://ebgames.com.au/customer-service

Isn't EB the only nationwide one that trades consoles nowadays?

    • +1

You're forgetting that with EB, you have to trade in 13 of your games to get another $10 off lol

  • WOW! $199 for premium Wii U, thats the price I said will definitly go Next gen Nintendo/last Gen everyone else! Just like thousands before I tried to get home delivery….and failed.

  • Wow these got cheap quickly…

  • I got mine when it was $74.25 at DS: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100537

Not a great deal. This console pack was $78 normal price in numerous retailers months ago, and will only get cheaper.

Also note, the Mario Kart pack Wii doesn't support Gamecube games.

    • +1

The price as it was "months ago" doesn't help someone buy one today. Unless you can show that it's still available somewhere for less than $99 - your neg is invalid.

    • good info re: backward compatibility, thanks.

  • Love a good bargain

  • Got Mine this morning

Kmart Casula, stock on the back, you have to ask the counter

  • Unlike 99.9% of Dire Stock (Dick Smith) deals, I was able to actually get a unit this morning!
    Cheap entertainment for the win.

  • Legend - picked one up from Altona Gate no worries. They've got a heap of them behind the counter.
