a good price but stock seems non-existent in sydney

    • Yeah, I know, I'm around Sydney too and can't get one but It's still a bargain for people in the above areas so that's why I posted it.

      • Couldn't even pricematch in Sydney because couldn't find any existing stock… kmart apparently stopped stocking them and no luck with Big W or Myers either =(

    +1 for the stock checks

  • in sydney, i got target to price match a few weeks ago (was $99 then)

    • +1

Did Target have a condition that DSE must have stock if they are to match price?
That seems to be the catch for me :-(

      • probably, but the guy who served me didn't bother checking. maybe i just got lucky…

        • Target normally doesn't have that condition (much the same as kmart).
They would have probably price matched because $99 is there possible sale price as well. $74.25 is a clearance price as with most of Dick Smith's gaming products as they are pretty much just liquidating stuff in order to get rid of it completely.
Companies don't normally like to price match liquidation prices.
Although they probably don't know that.

        • I got a price match from Big W today. just bring up the Dick Smith page on your mobile before it is fully sold out and go in there saying its in store. worked for me.

        • Which store?

Pretty low stock not worth it's own post, but a few in Brisbane and low stock in some other places. Worth the $3.75! Just thought i'd post it if anyone was interested.

  • no stock

  • no stock, but you can pay $9.95 shipping ??? although there's a red X against "home delivery"

    No stock along Illawarra coast.
No stock around North Perth (no one could find any in store).

Price may be good but if there is extremely limited stock available its not really a bargain.

    • +2

Just because there is none left in your area doesn't mean it's not a bargain for those people in the above mentioned towns where there is stock. I'm from around Sydney so I couldn't find any but I called a friend in Dubbo and she went and got one for her kids so it was still a bargain for her.
So in your opinion just because there is none in our area people in other areas don't deserve to get a bargain?
Please stop being so petty and selfish.

Good reason why it's called "Oz" Bargain, not "your local area" bargain!

FYI..I traded in Mario kart at JB and got a $30 gift card.

    • +1

$30 in trade! That's a crazy good deal.

    • I'm pretty sure you can trade games towards anything in store BUT gift cards. Looks like you have an unqualified staff dealing with you.

      • +3

you can trade it for a JB gift card (store credit)

  • +3

Tempted to buy one just to keep in the cupboard for years to come

Update: shattered dream, only stocked store left in VIC is shepparton

    • So what's your next adventure?

  • +3

come on guys! This is an EASY price match. Just got back from Big W who price matched on the white pack (wanted black but none left).

Go on your smart phone, bring up the dick smith page with the product and it will have the green tick showing its 'click and collect' (ie, in store price), now go to your local target/kmart/big w/myers/DJ's and price match!

This is a great price and beats the controller link i posted last night (good timing, i was just about to get another one out of Target)

    • Do all Big W's price match? Also what is they ask you to check local stock and realise there is none. What is the procedure that you used to match? It says they do not match online sales or clearances in their policy. Which store was this?

      • +1

yes, no problem at all. As others report with Kmart, just show the phone with it showing 'in stock' and its easy.

just ask, the worst they can say is no.

  • Stock @ Yeppoon, Queensland.

I just pissed on my wii..

Got one from Kmart, Maddington, WA, sales girl was really helpful, checked with her manager through phone and price matched to $74.25 from $188.00

    • Me too. Showed DSE page on phone, got it for $74.25.
      Thanks OP, nice score

  • Price matched at Kmart.. was a bit of a stuff around .. Kmart guy was helpful though..
As usual every dse store had no idea of the price and no stock.
In the end finally found one that new the price.. (even after showing them the website they still wanted to ring and check).
I took their last 2 black ones..:)

Ps - I asked DSE si they were liquidation, they said no they were going to and sold the company to liquidators but then bought it back off them 2 days later, some smaller stores might close but not the bigger ones according to the employee

  • Thanks just got kart to price match one!

  • +1

Right. Now that I've got this

    1. Where's the cheapest place to get a 2nd controller
    2. Is this is version moddable/hackable /jailbreakable/flashable/custom romable/home brew able?

Friend has the same bundle, bought it during Christmas and reckons he's done it. I'm hoping they're all the same?

    • Mate if you find out the basics, please share here. Would love to know too.
Information overload for me at the moment.

I got one today also, abit of a pain n the arse. waited to speak to manager then for them to call dse, finally got it after 15mins (Big W sunshine)

Depends what software it has mine was on 4.3 just finished doing a letterbomb on it, only problem im having is running my USB it wont read it for someone reason, but shod have it sorted soon.

        • Can you please post, how you go with fixing USB issue.

        • formated to fat32 with http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Master-Free-Editio….

Also so if you doing a softmod best to use normal remote, the new remotes cause problems (only while softmodding after normal use is ok)

    • Ok so I ended up buying 3 motion plus controllers from target from the deal posted here. Apparently these are the latest, most sensitive version of the Wii remote. $29ish ea, bundled with play motion game.

  • Big-W Keysborough - No Stock
K-Mart Keysborough - Refused to price match because local DSE had no stock.

  • I price matched and bought two and the big w in the vogue south Yarra. The young lady at the customer service desk called up the entertainment department and after checking for a bit and asking questions happily price matched. This took around 15 minutes all up at lunchtime today. They even asked me if I wanted the black or white wii and I chose black and I got one of each.

  • Dick Smith Traralgon (regional VIC) still had about three left this afternoon when I went in. All in white. According to the DS stock levels there's nothing else within at least 107kms.

  • Can confirm that I got a price match at Big W as well. The one I got must have been gathering dust on a back shelf somewhere for a while (they said it was the last one they had in stock) as it's a Gamecube compatible model - hurrah!

    • how can you tell that?

    • new black wii's are not gamecube compatible unless you got the white bundle maybe

  • I got this priced matched at Target today.

    Target Parramatta.

They had 4 left, They also had black and white

  • @Anybody that knows!

If you had the choice between a brand new Wii Mario Cart Bundle console as shown here or an original Wii console (second hand but as new) which would you go for?
Are there advantages with the early model that make it better to mod etc? I know they play Gamecube right out of the box on the plus side. They come with the old style controllers so thats a bit of negative.

    • according to the instructions that came with the mario kart bundle, the console is gamecube compatible.

      • Really? OK i was reading up about the later models not being GC compatible. Perhaps the Mario bundled one still was OK.

  • I was knocked back for a price match at Kmart Tuggeranong (they rang and confirmed that the only Dick Smith in in the ACT with a Wii left is the Canberra Centre store, and they only have the display model left - based on this they wouldn't price match). Tried late at night at the 24-hour Belconnen Kmart and successfully price matched what I think was their last Wii (since all the Dick Smiths were closed all they could do was check the Dick Smith website). If you want to try your luck at Kmart Tuggeranong (who I think have two or three Wiis left), I'd wait until after the local Dick Smiths have closed for the day (Kmart Tuggeranong is open until 10pm weeknights).

On their website Kmart's "Price Promise" (http://www.kmart.com.au/pricepromise) has the condition that "[the] competitor's product must be in stock in the required quantities in a retail outlet located in Australia", but Kmart Tuggeranong only seem to honour this if the retail outlet is in the ACT. You could maybe try pointing the wording of their "Price Promise" out to them if they aren't cooperative, and see if that changes their mind (you never know your luck).

    • Wrong post, but my local KMarts have been a PITA.

Excuses from "The manager isn't willing to lose $100 profit" to "It must be clearance stock" and even "We'll only match stores in the same centre".

Kmart used to be good at price matching.

      • what are tw*t, maybe he thinks his the owner
