I have no idea, maybe if someone actually had a receipt. I was on the fence on buying one because I want to know first if it can play games like Baldurs Gate EE and the likes.
i don't think they will because costco requires a membership and that's why their products are cheaper
They can price match costco, however they will not since they cannot call into them to ask them about stock.
However if you provide them with an original receipt they will price match. So if you have a friend who bought one, they can lend you their receipt…
Annecdotally there have been both scenarios. People have been flat out denied a price match on the basis that Costco is a membership warehouse. Others have been denied on the basis that they cannot be called. Perhaps knowledge of the latter has genertaed the excuse of the former.
seems like a good price.
dont forget to claim the free copy of ms office via asus!
how?
I bought mine about 3 months ago, can I still claim the free Ms Office?no, i think purchases between 20/5 to 30/6

Our opinion on the ME400C - FWIW -
This tab is -hardly- worth $380 + shipping
(nor $362.xx minus 5% (ING Dir wave & save bonus)
that we paid), due to:low performance CPU (you'd do better with notetop)
incomplete integration with Win 8 (get a keyboard)
didn't seem to wotk with Seagate portable hard disk
WiFi not as strong / sensitive as ASUS PC netbooks'
needed OTG cable not included (buy from Hong Kong)
ours seems to "freeze-up" almost daily (others'…?)
no way to plug-in extra memory storage [discretely]
Of course,YMMV.
My experience with the VivoTab;
The CPU performs adequately for most of the tasks i have thrown at it (nothing like video transcoding) most of my useage is as a music player (running MusicBee on it - streaming full FLAC via wifi) have not had a single problem with the wifi or the processor crying under the load.
Also streams Netflix/Hulu no problems at all (using windows 8 native apps).
My main usage is as a video/audio streamer for around the house in this role it ticks all the boxes (and is cheaper than anything with the same capability you got from a computer). With VLC it plays back most of the media i have thrown at it (full DVD images - 720p and some 1080p) - however it will not work with bluray (more of a problem with the GPU rather than the CPU).
It feels responsive in windows 8 with the swiping and gestures responding as expected.
Get an average of about 8 hours of battery (+/-) in use - not sure what the standby is like.
Plays simple games (solitaire, cut the rope, gameboy stuff via emulation) but i honestly have not tried any heavy lifting on it yet - given the GPU is pretty weak i would say games pre 2005 should run, but YMMV.
Not sure about the keyboard comment from above - it works like a keyboard in windows 8 should (i prefer the split layout - can type easier with both hands). The issue is that on screen keyboards in windows 8 desktop aren't that good once you leave metro - more of an OS then a device problem.
Extra storage is available via 64GB SDXC (upto 128GB) with slots into the side, an OTG costs about $3-$4 or so (including shipping).
Only neg i have to say about it is that whilst it feels good in the hand in landscape mode, in portrait mode it is not as good and the aspect ratio is all thrown out (ipad is better for this).
I went to the OfficeWorks store at Woolloongabba QLD first thing this morning trying to price match – failed – staff refused price match arguing that there’s no Costco in QLD and no shipping available, therefore couldn’t price match…
I then call OfficeWorks online store to price match – failed – again price match rejected but with different reasoning, Costco require membership and some of their advert may not include GST blablabla…
This is the first time ever I try to price match at OW. Deeply disappointed by their bullshit reasoning and attitude.
Well before you claim your right, please read the fine print so you dont look like an A***ole. i rather Office work makes profit and keep in business and someday, a really good deal comes and genuine price match comes compares to it folded because everyone trying to game the system.
I bought this for my daughter so she could do iPad kinds of things (read email, watch iView, play games like Cut the Rope) and PC things (full Sims 3, load her iPod, learn how to program) on a budget of less than $400.
She is delighted by everything except the very poor range of free games in the Windows 8 app store.
We have had ours only for a week or so, but this is what we have found:
- performance is smooth and the tablet is generally responsive
- big windows desktop applications take a while to start and you find yourself starting them multiple times if not careful
- Not sure about FPS, but Sims 3 seems to run really well in a window. If you run it full screen, accessing the keyboard is a pain.
- The screen is really nice, clear and bright. Somehow it looks higher rez than it is. I'd never want to go back to 768 on a laptop, but it seems fine on this device
- Comments about the portrait orientation are generally true. Works better in landscape
- No crashes and no problem with wifi, but sound does occasionally disappear, which needs a restart
- If you want to listen to music above a whisper, plug in a speaker
- Battery life is amazing
- This is a Windows 8 device. Windows updates, driver updates, recovery partitions etc. Sighs. Don't give it to a tech-phobic relative. If they are used to Windows 7 or less, it will confuzzle them. If you want trouble free relative-support experience, give them an iPadStill to do:
- Have claimed our free MS Office and interested to see how well it performs.
- Buy a micro SD card to hold the iTunes music collection
- Waiting for our HK delivered OTG cable to try keyboards and so on
- Have heard that it can't be charged from a generic USB power source. Need to check that.
- Waiting for cables to see if it can connect to an Atrix Lapdock for external keyboard and second screenThis is what I'd call a compromise device. If my laptop, my iPad and this device were sitting on my desk, I'd never pick it up - I'd always choose the iPad or the laptop. If you have the cash, buy a dedicated tablet with a great app store (iPad or Nexus 7) and a separate laptop to suit your needs. But if like my daughter, your pocket money doesn't extend to 2 devices, this could work for you.
Charging via USB sounds weird if its a USB host port, you wouldn't want two sourced of voltage.
The only way of getting it to charge is via the one micro usb port. It has micro usb, micro hdmi and micro sd only.
Say no to atom…
It does charge from a generic micro usb plugged into the wall - charge mine via an old iphone wall adapter and nexus 4 micro usb.
Should be the same price at all Costco Australian warehouses. We found that it was that price at Docklands last week when we compiled the latest list of Costco prices on laptops etc. last week. (http://loadedtrolley.com.au/costco-australia-price-lists/cos…)
I brought this picture to Bing Lee in Haymarket. They currently have the same model on sale for about $480. They were able to drop the price to $455 after I showed them the picture, for those that don't have a Costco membership, this is currently the best price in the major stores that I could find. I also got the keyboard accessory down from $118 to $95, although I didn't purchase it (going to see how necessary it is first).
If anyone needs me to upload picture of receipt, let me know.
Will officework price match Costo price? How?
