Seems the cameras mounted to the actual unit will rotate all the way to the other side. Might grab one to see how it goes.

EDIT: Just to note that the ebay price of this F80 is ~$115 delivered, so it is arguably a bargain.

  • More comments in this item please, any know if its any good ?
Wanna jump on it now but looks like one of those cheapie's you get on ebay from china.

    • Can't find anything about the F80, all I can find is a fair bit about the F70, a tiny amount about the F90/F90G… so yeah, it's an unknown.

I ordered one anyway, gotta be an upgrade of my R280 with the wonky lens… :X

      • Havent owed a car cam yet but since you currently own one would you say 120 degrees viewing angle pretty low?
        thanks

It's pretty low, yes. I guess that's why there are two at the front, to cover more area. :P

        • Thought so thanks, kinda in good mood so any one that answers back to my questions getting + for next few hours.

One of the camera faces inwards from the windscreen. It's meant to record activity inside the car cabin — this is especially handy if you are a taxi driver and you want some security footage of what goes on inside the car, not just the outside.

For those interested in getting a dashcam, should watch the Beginners guide to DVR's

it is a chinese site and "allwinner" is a chinese brand.

      • Thanks for doing my homework for me lol, the pic of the mount looks of low quality. Good nothing against things coming from china as most if not a products come from there these days :)

  • Seems liks a good price considering I paid a similar price for an almost identical one about a year ago, but with GPS instead of the third camera. In retrospect, the GPS isn't much use (I know where I was) but a third camera for aiding in parking and hitching trailers might be handy.

Can the seller please let me know - does this save video as three separate files, or as three videos contained in the one video stream? Also are the videos saved as separate files to a standard SD card readable on any computer, or do you need to run custom software and export each video to save it?

I'm seriously considering buying one of these for Dad's birthday, so if you can answer fast you'll get a quick sale.

    • Another question for the seller - there appears to be a GPS socket. Do you sell an external GPS module for this camera, and for how much? Are they fairly standard, would the GPS module from my old CarCam III camera work? Thanks!

The OP has not said he is a rep, so I assume he is not the seller. Google may be the only option to answer your questions.

        • Yep I just got this in an email sorry.

        • Thanks muncan, sorry I should stop replying to posts when it's 6am and I'm half asleep! Looks like a good camera, thanks for posting the deal!

  • I took the plunge and ordered one.
Thought I could use the 3rd camera to keep an eye on my daughter in her baby capsule.

  • those in-car photos of the mounted dashcam are hilarious

    • Most of the Asian units are photoshopped on to a windscreen. Don't know why they just don't mount one to a real car.

      • Don't know why they just don't mount one to a real car.

i suppose if they did, they'd have to charge us more for the product :p

  • I think I just found the same model but including GPS for US$118.29:

If you need GPS, it's still not a bad price for US$25.30 more. You have to click on 'Color name' and click one of the small memory card icons before you can add to cart. There are four icons, first has no memory card, then 8, 16, 32GB.

This seems to be the manufacturer of the camera:
    http://ch.szdome.com/new/F80.html
Unfortunately I couldn't find a manual for that model.

This could also be a cheaper link to the non-GPS version for US$88.99:

    • I decided against the GPS. My thinking was I may have to use the footage one day and I may come unstuck if the GPS shows I might be going a bit fast.

For example you were going 110 in a 100 zone and a car pulled out in front of you. Footage would show they are in the wrong, but the GPS could show you not doing the right thing.

      • yeah that'd be a dilemma. does anyone actually know what your insurance company can do if that happens? can they void your policy? i know for sure they can if you were drink-driving. or could you say the GPS "isn't accurate"

  • Got to love how the counter has reset on the deal page… was less than 24 hours when I posted, but now it's got almost 3 days to go at the same discounted price. Mahahaha.

Anyway, my email came with a couple of other dash cam deals too from the seller:

    OK I received mine.

The description is a little poor - it's a dual camera system only, with three lenses. The one lens that will always be on is the front right lens. The front left and rear can be toggled with a hardware switch on the unit itself - as in, you may either record FR/R or FR/FL. You can opt to only record 'front' (as in, FR), 'rear' (as in, R and FL), or both (records two separate folders).

The software says 1080p - of course the description for the ad says 720p, and that is as good as the front cameras get. The rear camera is probably only 480p…

I'll give the thing a test drive tomorrow and you'll be able to see the video quality, and hear the audio quality (? :P).
