  • The price now says $99.99 with further discount to $69.98 only for prime members.

    • Cheers, have updated the title

    Bought 2. Thanks OP! 🙏

  • Can anyone vouch for these? I'm about to pull the trigger on a Viofo A119 Mini 2. This is significantly cheaper though…

    • Would like to know the same

    • Some Amazon reviews seem to mention difficulty in reading number plates at times.

      • +1

At that point, might be worth it to go for something more reliable like the Viofo

    • +3

I would go for the ozb fav, the Mini 2, it appears to be more advanced due to its STARVIS 2 sensor, HDR, impact & motion detection, and buffered parking mode recording (saves footage before and after the incident).

Also I’ve had 2 customers with faulty units and Viofo made it fairly seamless to have them replaced. Doesn’t make Viofo unreliable though, as Blackvue also have had faulty units (but also replaced swiftly).

Not being bias, as I don’t sell any dashcams, I just provide installation services.

I haven’t used/installed a KAWA before, but most likely similar to other cheaper Chinese units, which will have a choppy app/UI, upscaled resolution (not sure 100% about this one, can’t find much info about the sensors) and I wouldn’t expect much from its parking mode - if you just want something to record while driving, I guess it’s fine.

      • Yea fair enough, I'm fairly set on Viofo as my installer seems to love them too (I wonder if you're the same guy?) but currently the prices are all too high, so I'll wait it out and focus on my head unit install first. I'll jump at the next Viofo deal on OzB tho

        • Not sure haha - I'm in Sydney, feel free to pm me, and I'd be happy to share my business details with you.

          • @idd: I'm in Sydney too… I already have an installer though, was just curious if you were the same person LOL. Big coincidence if you name happens to be Mueez?

            • +1

@Zackeroo: Yeah, I was wondering that too! But, no haha

              • @idd: Aww okay well thank you for your help! This is my first experience with this installer and if he turns out to be doo doo then I'll be asking for your business details :)

  • I know the one below is not 4K but which of the 2 would be better?

    • 70mai, because 70mai

  • Anyone know any good deals on Viofo currently? Best I can find is a Mini 2 for $149 on their official AliExpress store, although the prices right now all seem higher than previous deals :(

    • I looked recently and bought the Viofo Mini 2 from their aliexpress store. It was the best price at the time (about $158 with polarising filter)

      • Not bad but I've been looking into it since morning and I value the rear camera… I'm about to bite for $218 on the A129 Duo

        • The A129 Duo is fairly dated now, so for ~$100 more I think the A229 Plus is a huge upgrade…2K, newer image sensor, buffered parking mode (this feature was later disabled in the A129 Duo Plus after release), better UI etc.

          • @idd: Yeaa I realized that too which is why I'm holding off on the purchase for now. I'll keep an eye out for some A229 Plus sales as I want to use the video footage for scenic drives too, in place of a GoPro. Thanks!

  • I found my old 70mai app is hts to connect to the built-in wifi. Not sure kawa or the recent 70mai but.

    • All newer 70mai I've installed for customers were fairly easy to connect to the app. If you're buying off Aliexpress and it's a chinese-based version, so you'll need to use the Chinese app to connect.

  • Damn, just hard-wired my blueskysea not that long ago
Apps gone balls up, have to physically remove the memory card to view.

  • Sorry dont know much about dash cam. This would be my first one. Is this one better or 70mai 1S? Night vision is important. Dad had a cheap one a few years ago and pretty much you can't see any details at night.
