As winter is approaching, I was searching for a heated throw and found what I think is a reasonable deal at Bing Lee.

Sunbeam Safe & Sound Heated Electric Throw
Model: BL3251
Size: 1700 x 1900mm [SUPERSIZE]
$69.00 on website

When I went into the store, they were marked $118.90 — but the store assistant confirmed they were indeed $69. However, he gave no indication that this was a 'Special' price, nor were there any signs indicating such.

The Sunbeam website lists the RRP as $119.00. See:
http://www.sunbeam.com.au/products/living-room/bl3251/

NOTE THIS IS NOT the standard size [1200 x 1600mm] Sunbeam Safe & Sound Electric Throw [Model No: BL3221] which generally retails for $79 - but according to the Bing Lee site has been discontinued. See:
http://www.binglee.com.au/sunbeam-bl3221-safe-sound-heated-t…

Both Target and Big W have this smaller model for $79. See:
http://shop.target.com.au/p/sunbeam-safe-sound-heated-electr…
http://www.bigw.com.au/home-garden/small-appliances/heating-…

Features:
* Super Size [1700mm x 1900mm approx]
* SleepPerfect Technology - automatically senses and adjusts to maintain your selected temperature
* Fast 10 minute heat up - unlike other electric blankets, Sunbeam's unique fast-heating element reaches your your selected temperature in just 10 minutes
* 9 heat settings - illuminated control offers a choice of 9 heat settings to keep you comfortable day and night
* Detachable control and waterproof elements make the electric throw safe to wash by machine or hand and can even be tumble dried
* Ideal for the lounge or bedroom
* Large enough for two, this versatile heated throw can be used on a sofa, armchair or even the bed as an over blanket
* Made from plush micro fleece, it provides the cosy warmth of an electric blanket where and whenever you need it
* 3 Year Replacement Guarantee

Given that it is almost 70% larger and $10 cheaper than the standard size model - and $50 off RRP - I felt this was worthy of being MY FIRST POST.

Stay warm, people…

      Thats an electric underblanket for using on your bed.
      OP's one is a throw and can be used for say keeping you warm while watching TV on the sofa.
      (I'm currently using a standard sized one as I type this)

      • As Trojan has noted, your link is an electric blanket which effectively remains fixed to your bed, whereas my link is more portable

  • Hi DirtySteve, nice first post. Just wondering if you have used it yet? How warm is it on the highest setting? Could it be used on top of a bed as well as on the lounge?

    • +1

      Assuming they are the same as the normal size, they are very warm. I put it on 9 to heat up the throw and then have to turn it down to 4-5 for continuous use

      • Thanks for the info Trojan :)

    • +1

      No I haven't used it as yet. It is meant to be a gift — but I am very tempted to try it out as I sit here on the lounge…

  • sounds good so does it have 1 or 2 controls?

    • Not entirely sure — refer above — but I imagine there is only one control.

  • Billy Guyatts have it for the same price (+shipping): http://www.billyguyatts.com.au/sunbeam-safe-sound-heated-sup…

    • bing lee have free shipping on this item, at least for me.

  • Just bought one. I've been keen to get one of these for a while. Thanks for the post.
