I don't think it is substitute for your long running battery life.. but if someone is looking to just keep their phone "alive"… for $5 it's not that bad.. Don't beleive their specs.. just see if this fits into use and throw in few weeks time.

oh no. please dont buy these batteries. They are actually something like 750mah realy not worth it. pictures online how people took off the outside cover to find 750mah printed on the inside.

  • Yep, be lucky if they were 30% of their claimed rating, utter junk.

    • hmm… amazon says no delivery to Aus and ebay says

May not post to Australia - Read item description or contact seller for details.

      • Posted only as an example. Try limit searches to ebay Aus.

I've bought a 2 pack of the Anker 1900mAh from ankerdirect on eBay - you'll have to check all of their listings, hidden amongst there somewhere there is one that should ship here. :P

IIRC they won't ship ones with a wall charger, which is a shame. :(

And yes, they do last longer than the Samsung battery. :D

    Why not neg this then?

    • +4

Because negging posts unnecessarily will make them disappear…. along with all the valuable information that people have posted about their experiences with the product, or possible alternatives

      • In the meantime, people who don't take the time to read through sometimes hundreds of posts, miss the warnings and get stung. VERY helpful, I'm sure.

If indeed the claimed mAH are false (and they most likely are), there are cheaper batteries on Ebay that ship from Hong Kong too.

In general these are "good" batteries if you need a temporary replacement for the rest of the day when your main Samsung battery goes flat. If you need a proper battery, best to get original Samsung stock (which is more expensive but is of legit quality).

The claimed battery capacity is fake and completely fabricated.

i bought one for my HTC DESIRE HD long time ago, think it was $2 something and claimed to have 2000+mAH, turns out it is worse than my already aged stock battery. So never trust this sort of product.

  • undeclared rep?

    • Haha.. no way mate. happy to close this if you like… long time surfer and first time posted. be kind ;-)

      • thats cool, just a cut and paste then as i read this section:
"Our battery is sent out with little or no power, so please charge it for hours before using"

My friend bought same packaged battery from China for my S3. Maybe the mAh printed is bit misleading but it lasts longer than the original Samsung battery. So no complaint from me.

  • Well i am not seller so really don't mind bad rating for product. For someone who looking to run their galaxy phone lease of 2-3 months… for $5 its not that bad at all. I am not going to buy one for myself as just moved to S4 and my S2 will be in some drawer as second mobile.

    Cheers

  • I'll pass on this. I'm still using the $25 Samsung 2000mAh with cover from a year ago. Also crossing my fingers for that vanilla android S4 to be shipped here.

Ah, I think I can help with this discussion…
I have a Golden Brand battery and an even an cheaper (Samsung branded fake) bought from a local eBay seller, the latter bought with some urgency - both for a Galaxy Note - both to be charged in an outboard charger.
I expected both to have overstated capacity.

Local eBay seller battery (Samsung fake - very obvious when you have it in your hand) has in reality only ⅔ the capacity of the OEM batt - if that, making it pretty useless.
Golden battery is actually good quality - not the 3030mAh claimed, but very close to the original's 2500.

I may well buy the Note 2 near to its replacement and wouldn't hesitate buying the matching Golden Brand battery as a backup.

Keep in mind that lithium packs in mobile phones, tabs etc. don't pose the same (YouTube celebrated) fire risk that they once did.
Lessons have been learned. Just about everything pack you buy - and certainly if it's properly branded and not obviously dodgy - is going to contain two proprietary protection chips.

  • I read most the comments, seems like it not worth it then ? Would i be better off buy the portable battery bank from ALDI, instead of get a new ( supposed/original ) bettery for the phone ?

  • The world is full of poor quality or overstated capacity batteries. The Anker batteries were a good tip.

    • As regards real capacity vs price - as a highly bargainiferous alternative the Golden Brand batteries represent a more than reasonable tradeoff - at least as regards my personal experience goes.

  • I had one like this - can't confirm that it's the same, so won't neg the deal. I bought it after getting "upgraded" to a new Virgin/Optus supplied ROM, which drained the battery much faster than the older Android.

It lasted a shorter time than my original 18-month old Samsung battery, but with the extra bulk. With the fatter cover installed, the phone doesn't fit in any phone cover or charging dock. An absolute PITA.

My solution was going back to my original battery and installing Cyanogenmod. Much better battery life than the Optus bloatware.

    • Sounds like you bought one of the 'extended range' type batteries that require, and sometimes are sold with, larger back covers.
The Golden battery in my Note - intended for standard replacement like this SII one - is a slightly snugger fit, but no issues with back cover or outboard charging dock.

      • Yep, that's the kind I bought.

        Of course a battery 3x as thick must have more powars… I thought… :-/

    • +1 custom ROM to improve battery life.
