  • We're on brink of 4K/UHD roll-out. I'll wait.

What's your point? That 4k monitors will get cheaper? Because this is 4k….

      • there are a few different 4K standards, but they generally higher in resolution than wqxga which is this monitor's resolution.

that said, it's likely to take a few years for 4k monitor prices to come down to the consumer level.

      • Because this is 4k….

Wikipedia: "The term 4K refers to the horizontal resolution" … "4K UHD is a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 pixels"

2560x1600 - exactly the same as a 10" nexus tablet, so 30% of the resolution. Which part is "ultra"?

So you think your kogan FHD 23" LCD TV should be the same price as a FHD 70" Samsung then?

      • -2

Who said anything about price. Just saying the name is silly.
It is exactly the same resolution/sharpness as a 22.5" 1920x1080 - about 96dpi. Same as every monitor I've ever had, since the first 15" CRT :) Of course it is twice the size. Maybe they should call it the UltraFrickenBig.

        • The distance to your eyes is a huge factor you're ignoring.

        • Apples and oranges are both fruit too..

I have both the Nexus and this screen right here in front of me .. and the Dell has better colour and viewing angles by a mile… plus you know I can plug other things into it for multiple inputs, a card reader .. the nexus is awesome too as its so portable and sharp. but they aren't naming a screen 'Ultra' against a tablet anymore then they are the screen against a TV. Its ultra for what it offers compared to comparable devices - you know monitors.

For great dedication to a bargain. We salute you.

  • Does anyone know how long this sale is going for??

    • Thursday May 23rd.

Also you can usually find a Dell rep who'll give you the sale price outside of official sales.

  • would love to have two of those at my work. you can never have too much screen real estate.

one for each Windows 8 tile.

  • FWIW, I'm told "ultrasharp" is Dell's word for monitors with superior panels. So better viewing angle and colour.
But back in the days of CRT it did refer to actual sharpness.

  • I want one of these so much, the wife is happy for me to buy but I cannot justify spending that much!

  • Now this is a real computer monitor, 16:10 ratio IPS as opposed to all the mainstream wannabes with their 16:9 TN monitors. Since I am short of desk space and cash at the moment though, I'll stick with my 24 inch 1920 x 1200 pivoting Dell monitor.
