Saw this on the Dickies website. Very good deal for a NAS if you can find one. Out of stock in central located areas in Vic but sill limited availability in the outer suburbs like Pakenham & Cranbourne (if you're brave). Probably same deal in other parts of the country, test to see if its available in your area.

Hi
NAS can be directly connected to your router and you can access it from using any devices inside your LAN and as well as outside your network (After doing the necessary configuration. Normal external drives just connect to the desktop/laptop and if that desktop is power off you cannot access it.I wish this deal was good enough to get on the main page so you could get a downvote roasting for that comment
What is wrong with this Drive?
There are plenty of negative reviews of this product
better off breaking it up and using it in a microserver
…only works if you have a microserver, Tony!
what is a microserver?
Might be useful as an external hd alternate

Thanx for heads up on the neg reviews Downero.Thanx for heads up on the neg reviews Downero.
FWIW, I've been using one for more than a year now, it's not the perfect NAS, sure it has a few of the same software quirks that plague most entry level NAS's; but it's been rock solid as far as reliability & performance goes.
No stock ;(

Can't a standard USB or external hard drive be able to connect directly to a router anyway if your router has USB 2.0 ports.the new A/C Netgear d6300 has 2.
If your router has usb ports, sure.
But not all routers have usb ports.which is why everyone should have a fritz box!
Why? Instead of a $200 router, they can use a $55 Billion that works perfectly fine, and plug in this NAS into it.
You do realize this deal is a 2TB NAS for $79.50 right. You'll have to spend just as much or more to buy a standard 2TB USB drive which will only work with routers that have USB ports, like your $180-230+ Fritz.
bought this last weekend from office works, price matched to dse price (but was about $120 grrr)
Is it good??
actually just using via usb to back up another nas (using another goflex usb adapter i all ready had). i haven't tried it as a nas itself yet. seems to be fine so far
Did you pay by credit card? If you have a gold/plat cc you might be able to get refunded the difference.
cheers. might look into this. but win some lose some…..

They're not a special offer so much as reduced to clear, which means its very limited stock. I wasn't able to find one near me myself, but I thought I post it in the case someone out there might be able find a store near them that has it. It is limited but they are available
There were plenty in stock in at least 4 stores near me when you posted this deal, so had I wanted one it would have been of great benefit.
We do have stocks of petulant OzB'ers ready to bellyache coz they didn't get a lollipop when the other kids got theirs though…
I never even bother to check stock levels at trickie dickies. I know if it's a good deal the staff have allready hidden the stock out the back. I just printed off the page from the web site and took it to officeworks to get their price match guarantee, so i just paid $75.52 for this NAS HDD…
Used the stock level at the one Perth store with LOW STOCK (Innaloo)to get Officeworks to price match. Got it for $75.xx
I am currently playing with the drive. If you want a simple file storage option I would say avoid as the software is cumbersome at best. Having trouble setting up file shares. Still at this price the drive is still a cheap option even if I remove it from the case.
I done the same thing at office works hoxton park, took them 10mins to pick up their jaws because of the massive price difference but I was able to walk out with one for $75 too. Very good price for a 2tb drive. Just the Seagate 2tb drive is $91 at MSY.
My main purpose is to use it to stream contents to dlna devices and so far it works well. But I see where you're coming from regarding the software. I didn't install the dashboard and just go through the browser and windows explorer but that's not for everyone.
they'll be closed soon yeah? and then they'll be one less "shit place to shop" in oz.
This is cheap. I bought mine for $160 at Ebay. It is a good and reliable NAS. You can access data, pics and watch movie via streaming using iphone/ipad, smart tv. Just like having cloud at home.
Downside is transferring data from PC to NAS takes ages, approx 28mins per movie if using wireless connection, and 10mins using LAN cable. Thanks, just bought one at Punchbowl's officeworks with price match.
I don't like this NAS..take ages to transfer file from my laptop to this drive…search for review…people are complaining
managed to get price match at officeworks… thanks op
404 page not found LOL
I think DSE removed the item for some reason. Only a 1.5TB can be found. Not sure if we can use this page to match the price at officeworks.
Cranbourne Vic Stock all gone…
Just wondering, do these have batteries for the clock or use NTP? How do these things keep time? I have an old NAS enclosure that doesn't keep time, and all of the file create times show 1/1/2000.
Thanks.i just price match Hornsby officeworks for two this morning after dicksmith took the listing off their site but officeworks phone parramatta dicksmith to conform stock and they actually said they had 2 and was selling it at $79.50.
There was three in stock before I got two.
What is a NAS exactly and how is it different than a regular external drive?
