  • Lame chance for Spotlight to get people into their stores and piggyback on the "Show Your Support" crowd. How exactly is me wearing a yellow ribbon helping anyone out here?

  • I agree…..at least with the Coles et al "all profits for the day go to" stunts they coughed up some money.
Who would have the gall to wear such a yellow ribbon anyhow, knowing they hadn't given anything to help.

At least ask for a gold coin donation.
Otherwise it may symbolise something, but hasn't done anything to help

  • Yeah this is poor!
I think everyone would be behind the victims of this disaster.
People should donate if they can afford to … I think it's pretty silly that people have to physically show it off like a badge.
It's as if the act of giving isn't enough and they need recognition.

This is not Spotlights doing. Premier John Brumby has called for this.

And here is the story in the Herald Sun

    http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25042345-5018…

THE Herald Sun and the State Government are urging all Victorians to show their support for the victims of the bushfires by wearing a yellow ribbon.

Premier John Brumby described the yellow ribbon campaign as a "powerful symbol".

"It is a fantastic way for Victorians to show their support for our volunteer firefighters, career firefighters and all who put their lives on the line protecting the state," he said.

    • I'd rather donate money.

This should be in the forum anyway.

    • I'd be interested to see John Brumby's share portfolio!
+1 this should be moved to the forum

  • Terrible. Not a bargain and not really beneficial to the victims.

  • Moral support is all good and well but financial support is what is needed. How exactly is Spotlight helping?

    • I know one of the two owners is personally donating $5'000.

Spotlight is a Melbourne based company so I'm sure they're doing something. But then again this is one of the cheapest companies doing the rounds, and one I don't expect to last many years longer.

  • Not exactly a bargain to take advantage a company's good spirits
