LG Printable 50 Pack DVD-R $15 at Harvey Norman

200

Just went to Harvey Norman earlier today, Was after some DVDs. Found these just in front of the the checkout in the Nunawadding store in Melbourne. They were selling some Verbatim ones(Non-Printable 50 Pack for $16, Printable $18- I remember this deal was posted not very long ago..i think…EDIT: Found it! - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/9528). They must be clearing out on all their non-popular DVD media.

AFIK these LG ones are only available in DVD-R, tried to look for some +R's as those are the ones i always have been using but had no luck. Was initially going to get the $16 Verbatim ones(Which also are available as DVD-R only-Found DVD+R's but they were $29.95 or something) then saw these and was like, ok. i'd prefer printable and its cheaper by a whole DOLLAR, so why not? also didnt mind trying another brand i hadn't tried before seeing as i was making the lifelong switch to -R media!

Have no clue about the reliability of LG's DVDs but i assume most if not all name brand media should at least perform adequately(Many DVDs are supposedly manufactured in the same factories, just re-branded to different companies- Don't quote me on this though :P). Will be reading up on it later if i have the time.

  • verbatims are better

  • I think it's just that their "normal" prices are too overpriced compared to other stores and so do not sell much, hence the need to have a sale to get rid of stock.

Calling Verbs non-popular DVD media is a huge mistake, unless you meant LG.

    • Sorry, that was probably a poorly constructed sentence…what i meant was that +R DVDs must be more popular than their -R counterparts regardless of brand, hence HN had to find a way to reduce the extra stock of -R media leading to them asking $15/Spindle anyone? :)

  • LG brand was created by CMC ……… can be good, but mostly medium quality and some nasty quality. Verbatim should be MCC? world wide famous after Taiyo yuden and Sony.

same with TDK, some reported MCC, but most are CMC as well……..

  • I have been using the LG DVD for past 2 years now. I found it the best with 98% success burn rate. As a result I have stuck to them and haven't tried any other ones.
Which harvey norman did you go to? I will stock some more up if it is accessible. We used to original get them from the sydney cbd store. But they stopped stocking them a year ago.
    thanks

  • hmm… dvd burner or 50 dvd's for $15?

  • saw Verbatim DVD-/+R 50 pack for sale $17/21 last week on HN QV Melbourne.
Thought it wasnt good enough to be put here :)
    maybe it's gone now.

but they are selling 25 PACK homebrand DVD-/+R for $6 or $7. I saw it on friday.

  • Officeworks has Verbatim 16x DVD+R White Inkjet Printable Pk/50 - VBDVP50WIJ for $17 each. Much better buy IMO.

    • good deal. inkjet printable media are produce higher quality than non inkjet normally. Value pack is slightly worse - normally OEM.

  • That's the normal price for this sort of DVD pack from CAPITOL in Sydney. Only good place to get packs of DVDs.
