      It's velour. VELOUR.

  • Anyone know when this deal expires? :|

    • it is not a "deal". the price fluctuates though.

      • Mmm… I hate buying purchases upwards of $100 blindly.. I listened to these once in the Apple Store, when their RRP over there was $500 or $550, but they were the only ones in Australia who had them, and their sound didn't exactly make me jump up and down, well especially at that ludicrous price.
Anyone know if JBhifi have this at all their stores + available for listening?

        • Sennheisser wont make you jump up and down, their house signature is laid back with toned down highs, try the Beyerdynamic DT1350.

As for demoing higher end HPs there really is not much choice in aus, find a local meet or buy from heaphonics. They may sell at close to rrp, but they give you a month to try it out and let you return for store credit less fees.

        • Can also try out a place called Addicted to Audio, they let you audition gear.

I've had a few pieces of lower-end Sennheiser gear, I liked the clarity of their sound (HD228 old versions, new versions sound different but they're okay with the "asteriod mod" which is take out the inner foam to increase the treble a bit).
Audio-Technicas are alright, the ATH-M50 sound is fine but the bass seems to be a bit tuned up + the mids and highs not as sparkly. I hate how its extremely uncomfortable to wear them though. Extra padding from the $20 COTD AudioTechnica pair has helped a lot though.
Grados sound like they're based on a radio speaker or something (that's what I'm hearing anyway), they just have that strange touch to their sound.
