Samsung PRO SD Card 80MB/s - 16GB ($15), 32GB ($25) Shipped

100

Well this is the first time I've ever seen cheap electronics coming from France, but came across these looking for a card for my new camera (thanks to OzBargain…)
EDIT: updated links with an Aus seller at the same low prices

UHS-1 80MB/s read speeds so apparently faster than the ever popular Sandisk Extremes.
MSY are selling them for $26/$45 so a steal at this price!

  • Prices converted to AUD assuming using 28 degrees card, add a few bucks for paypal

    • How do you pay for stuff on ebay using the 28degrees card? From what I can tell it still forces you to use Paypal which automatically uses their ripoff conversion rates to AUD thereby defeating the purpose of paying with 28 degrees

      • +1

First, you select the payment option of your 28degrees card, then there'll be an option to "change conversion options", and from there you can tell paypal to "bill you in the seller's currency", which will let 28degrees handle the currency conversion.

But Paypal charges you more fees if you choose to pay by CC instead of your Bank account.

          What are you on about?

          I'm fairly sure it doesn't

I have never been charge more for doing the above when make purchases on eBay etc

Sorry my mistake, just checked paypals's Ts & Cs, that only happens for non purchase payments, like sending money to family & friends instead of purchasing an item.

  • Purchased with Bankwest Zero Platinum :) Same deal as 28 degrees!

    Thanks,

    Let's hope these are genuine!

    EDIT: I was charges 24.95

  • HANG on a second - is this not the same thing? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-32GB-SD-card-Extreme-clas…

    • Oh that's interesting….. Didn't come up my search for "samsung pro" i guess…… That is as a good deal
      updated the post.

  • Sorry to be a bother but I've just purchased my first digital camera (the $39.83 Ricoh from Target) and I've no idea about SD cards.

… is this a good bargain for someone who just wants to start taking point and shoot pictures? I've no idea how large a picture is on a 16MP camera :/

This memory card is likely to be overkill (in terms of speed) for that camera, but considering it's really not all that expensive, its probably worth getting in case you decide to upgrade your camera later, and also the pictures should transfer faster onto your computer.
16gb should be enough for a fair few hundred photos (conservative estimate, I can get 3000 shots on my 16MP DSLR).

    • I wouldn't bother with something this good for you. You'd expect about 5mb per image so 16000/5 is 3200 and you really would want to clear your images much more frequently than that - nothing worse than losing a memory card full of pictures you never moved them to the computer!

I'd probably pick up one or two cheap 4GB cards, but hey $15 for a fast 16gb card is not a bad deal albeit an overkill for your camera.

  • Thanks so much for the info! Will probably purchase one for me and the lady :)

    Have a great day phwahh!

Guys we are talking about READ speed here not write speed.
Write speed for this SD card is only 40MB/s. Saying that still this a nice price if this a genuine card.
does anyone know how reliable is Samsung SD cards are?

    • I have been using some of the class 4 8gbs for a few months with no dramas….. 40MB/s write is decent if it can keep that speed rather than it being a peak speeed and sustained speed is half that. Decent even in that case

  • Anyone know of a decent USB 3.0 to SD card reader, so you could effectively use the SD card in question as a fast 16GB USB stick?
