  Hmm. I was going to get one of

  • but thats $8 more (from a pickup site near me) - as an internal drive. Can some one comment on the quality & speed difference? If the case is easy enough to open I could just pop it inside the case to do a big backup/copy and then leave it USB2/3 for when I need to get quick access to it.

    Once you remove the drive from the external case, you lose all warranties.

    Considering the dreadful quality of modern hard drives, this is actually far more important than any potential $8 saving.

    Better check first are they come with standard sata connector, like WD portable one has custom connector.

  Officeworks stock the 1tb for $89. I showed them the big w brochure on my phone and no questions asked, they charged me for $74.10 due to their price match policy. Bargain!

  I am using one of these and it gets very hot when it operates for a long time.
  I recommend using them as backups or stocks.

  Got Officeworks to price match the 3Tb - no problems :)
