Credit Card Rewards

Which card offers the best rewards system in your opinion

Interest rates not a factor as I pay off each month
Annual card fee is a factor as ideally I need 4 cards in total - 3 supplementary cards

I have an Amex (after I signed up to get a free coffee machine - Thanks OzB!)
But it isn't accepted everywhere
Ditto with Diners I guess

Anyone recommend a Visa/Mastercard with good value rewards?
If it has other benefits - warranty, travel, etc - that's good too
Thanks

  • I had a NAB card with 1% cash back. It was capped but if you are only using it when you need visa/mastercard that isn't bad. Downside is you have to deal with NAB.

    • NAB is awesome.

    • Sounds like a not as good version of ING Paywave! Just did a google search and found that it's NAB Visa Mini? Is it still available? Doesn't seem like it is. It sounds like it would be good for those purchases where there's no paywave available (such as online transactions)

    • Which nab card is that? I used to have their Visa Mini with 1% cashback until they dropped it to 0.5% and increased annual fee.

      • That was it, I haven't used NAB for some time now.

  • +1

Do check out the credit card reward compared website — a great comparison website. See the previous thread.

  • Westpac krisflyer and altitude have good rewards, but you've to pay annual fee.

  • Which card really depends on how much you spend on the card, and what percentage of that spend can be made using an American Express card.

Try entering values into the form here http://rewardscompared.com/cards and see which gets you the best returns. The calculations assume you redeem your points for supermarket/department store vouchers which tend to be the best value.

Note: the Jetstar Mastercard often feature highly but be aware they automatically issue their vouchers and they need to be used within 6 months - which would only suit frequent travelers.

    • Thanks for the link. I need one that compares rewards points and has overseas travel insurance. Any recommendations?
