  • Last time I got this from HN for $89 it was region free - hard to find on Blu Ray players. Not sure if this is the same…

    • -1

It's definitely NOT region free for Blu, should be for DVD.

    • That was the BDX1200KY which is multi-region for Bluray and DVD.

      • So it cannot be unlocked for DVD Regions?

        • +1

No, it can't be unlocked for DVD. But will play Multi-region BluRay.

        • Thanks I'll give it a miss then….

        • As someone already mentioned, this player (like almost all Aussie players) will play Region B and Region Free discs only.

People who have tested discs from the US on this player and had success, have failed to realise the discs they're checking are Region Free to begin with.

  • Good price on the Blu-Ray player but note that it is not multi-region for Blu-Ray, nor sounds like it ever will be (unlike its predecessors).

  • No Bitstream supported?

  • That'll learn me, should have checked the model number.

  • Got excited thinking I was going to get a Regio-Free BD player for under $50 :(

  • I bought 2 x Akai for $18 each online, extremely light, works fine. I lightly threw the remote control onto my bed, hitting my phone, then remote won't work. Basic buttons on the machine. Still to try the second machine.

  • Got 3 of the toshiba bluray players for $44 each from HN on Marion Rd, SA.

  • Thanks good price
Don't care if its region Free
Lately I been getting my Blu-ray's form the UK which is region B
Never see many good deals on blu-rays from the states anyway

  • Cheaper than a BD-ROM!

  • Can anyone please try this and see if it works?

    • Would be interested to know also

    • I'll have a go tonight. Looks promising!

      • waiting for you test result

        • Anyone tested this yet :) ?

        • nah, doesn't seem to work.
Also the region code isn't a number on this machine, you have to select a country so you can't select '0'.

        • there is no DVD button on the remote, how did you try?

        • exactly, these instructions are wrong.
I just went to dvd on my tv and followed instructions from eject.

So just to confirm this is not a region free bluray player??
