For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard(mastercard.us) or VISA(visa.com.au) exchange rate depending on the card.

  • Battery life of the WiFi option?

    • +4

The name is a little misleading. The wifi option requires mains power.
There is a battery version however, but the reviews aren’t amazing.

      • Yea I ordered it basesd on the name and will be returning it now

  • +1

I have a wired wifi one which is great. Thwre is a difference in field of view between black.and white ones as white one may give wider view.

    • +2

I bought the white one. It's actually the same, just that they rotate the view by 90 degree. So you get to capture the whole body of a person with less distortion. Also best for the parcel detection feature.

I actually wish i took the black one as i didn't think about my situation of keeping the old doorbell location.

  • Any good camera deals?

  • Can PoE version work with NVR from recent Costco deal (https://ozb.me/o/3l8C)? I understand I might have to sacrifice one port on the NVR if it does.

  • +1

I need a PoE switch to go with this. Is this KeepLiNK 10-Port Gigabit Switch with 8-PoE and 2-RJ45 (KP-9000-208GP) @ AU$41.39(aliexpress.com) a good buy?

    • I went the other way and got a used enterprise POE Switch (that was actually power efficient) for about $200 and has 48 ports as well as uplink. (I did want the 24-port version, but it was more expensive, because it uses less power).

      • Do you have a recommendation on brand / model?

  • +1

Oops bought and installed one from amazon for $109. Can i buy from here and return to amazon? ;-)

    • +1

90% chance nothing bad happens and you get $20 back
10% chance you get blackballed by amazon and get no refund

  • +1

Anyone know where to get a rubber cover?
Ive had to warrenty 2 if them for water ingress in behind thebpush button.

  • How much would installation cost?

  • I have this and love it. Only complaint coming from Eufy is this doesn't have HDR. If you're front door gets direct sun its going to really struggle to produce a clear image without blowing the image out too bright.

    • Newest update now allows for HDR apparently! Which is good news

      • Software or hardware update? Have you got a link to patch notes?

  • might seem a dumb question but some sellers photos of the backs of these show that the WiFi version also has a Ethernet port.

So does the WiFi version also support POE or is this just sellers reusing stock photos?

    • +1

wifi supports ethernet but not poe

      • thanks.

      • stepping in with another dumb question - would wifi with ethernet perform as well as PoE then?

  • +1

What am I doing wrong guys, neither code works.

for either of these I get

    OZAU13 or AUAS13
"For security reasons your request can't currently be processed"

    for
    REOLINK1790
"Unable to apply promo code. The total after discount (excl. shipping) doesn't meet the minimum purchase amount."

hmmm ignore. must have just been a website glitch, after about 5 mins of attempts it now works.

  • Installed the PoE version recently and it's been great, very well made product and software

  • Got mine for $81 AUD (PoE)! Thx OP

  • I've got an old wired battery doorbell that I assume is 12V, can I reuse the existing 12v wiring with new connections on either end to supply the doorbell or would I need to run new cable? If I need to run a new cable I'll just go PoE

    • Depends on what your old doorbell power supply actually outputs.

The WiFi model from Reolink can accept 24V DC or 12-24V AC according to their website.

    • You can use existing wiring with the wifi model (that's what I've done for one of mine - was easier than running ethernet). I just cut the cable from the existing doorbell and connected the supplied reolink power adaptor to it.

  • Thanks. I’ve been waiting for a deal -Just brought a wifi on. Let’s see how easy it is to replace my aging Ring and integrate this with the ReoLink NVR.

  • Assuming I could install either PoE or Wifi, would the wifi one(with an Ethernet cable) be a better option? I am mostly concerned about being notified too late when someone is at the door.

    • I'd do PoE as it's arguably easier to run an ethernet cable than a power supply cable

    • I have PoE and response time is fantastic.

    • I've got both and response time is same

  • I’m waiting for the 4k version

  • I have a Ring Elite doorbell which I want to replace because of the subscription fees but the hole in the brick wall where it is installed is about 6cm wide.

This reolink doorbell is only 4.8cm wide which means it won't cover the hole in the brick wall and will look pretty silly with gaps on the sides. Are there any other good non subscription doorbells that are wider in size like the Ring Elite?

    Thanks.

I switched from a Google Doorbell to the Reolink Doorbell, and honestly, I kind of regret it. It lacks rich notifications, so I can’t see a snapshot of who’s at the door like I could with the Google Doorbell. By the time I open the app to check, the person is usually long gone, and I have to replay the recording.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

    • +1

I use notifications from Home Assistant rather than Reolink, which gives me a lot more options.

    • -1

I don't follow, unless you've got a battery powered doorbell why would a google one be any better especially when its locked to the google only ecosystem. How is it taking a "snapshot" and what is a rich notification?

Reolinks can be integrated to a variety of smart home and open source platforms. Far as I can see their POE lower res version is currently leading the pack over the other options but I'm yet to use it myself.

      • How is it taking a "snapshot" and what is a rich notification?

A standard notification is just a message on the screen, like you get when you receive an SMS. The Reolink doorbell sends a standard notification when the doorbell button is pressed. If you click on the notification, it will open the app so you can see the live view, but this takes 5 seconds or so.

A rich notification will include extra data - in this case, the Google doorbell will provide a notification that includes a still photo from the camera at the time the button was pressed, so you can see who's at the door at a glance.

Rich notifications are definitely the better option, and I hope it's something Reolink are working on for their devices. Currently only the battery doorbell supports this.

  • I have been running POE version for approx 6months. Its a great doorbell compared to my old WIFI Ring doorbell 2. A big proponent of that i believe is the POE
