Nikon D3300 Digital SLR with 18-55mm Single VR-II Lens Kit $298 After $100 Cashback @ Officeworks

2140

Well this is embarrassing. Two posts in a row from our old mate theearth. But they're just too good not to post on OzB. So all pride aside, and full credit to the great man. Sale starts Thursday. No idea if it's instore only, or available online in which case delivery should be free.

EDIT: Thanks to the link provided by Firey1989, seems this price is available now with free delivery. Store stock levels should increase Thursday when the catalogue sale officially starts.

Update:

There appears to be issues with their cashback form. They advise the following:

use Other, and the Other and then type in the full name of the store

Officeworks is listed as an authorized seller.

  • Thanks TA. Now need to decide which camera to keep - this one or the Canon M.

Ring your local store. They may be happy to release stock before the official catalogue date.

    • Time to throw Canon M into your trash bin.

      • No. It's brand new. I will sell it if I have to but it won't be going into the bin.

Watch this video review and tell me you still aren't tempted to buy it > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhUd90Mnzjw
On a side note, does anyone know how much a decent telephoto zoom(70-300mm) lens will cost?

    • +1

The Nikon 4.5-5.6/VR (FX) version is about $300 2nd hand. I have one and it is very good outdoors. Good for wildlife. For lowlight, you'll need the 70-200/2.8.

      • Got both. They are very good. I like the 300mm for the range and because it is lighter than the 70-200. 300mm portraits are awesome.

  • You're a legend once again TA! Been wanting a decent camera for a while, and the timing for this offer couldn't be better!!

For all you South Adelaidians out there, Officeworks Noarlunga had three showing on their system, however after 10 minutes of "looking out the back" they couldn't find them. A quick drive to Marion proved eventful though, with them having approx 4-5 in the cupboard behind the cash registers at the front of the store (as of 7:45 this morning). Good luck :)

  • Temporary unavailable online…. or permanently ?

    • Sale starts Thursday.

      • Thanks, it's just weird that I added till last check out step … it said not available.

        • Looks like temporarily sold out

Just bought two cameras from Albury Officeworks

  • Great deal. I'm still rocking my D3100 (Twin kit). Great intro camera IMO.
At this price it's a freaking no brainer!

  • +1

Just picked one up from Fountain Gate Vic

    • Many left there?

      • I'm not sure, I called up and the person on the phone asked someone in the background if the "cameras had arrived". He than offered to put one aside for me. There was none on display.

  • Anyone know when the cashback deal ends?

  • Just picked one up

    $398!!!

Get them quick, they will be gone by thurs lol!

    The store only had 2

  • Awesome price for this camera.

  • Picked one up in Greenacre the only other stock was reserved as well haha

  • I called Glebe and they had 2 left. Asked them to put one on hold for me - lucky because in te 20 minutes it took for me to get there they had sold the other one so I bought the last one

  • At the rate it is selling, there will be none left before its catalogue start
    date

  • I cant find any in QLD

Just got it price matched at JB HiFi.

And my partners work gets 7% off gift cards, ended up being $372 for the camera, woot, so $272 after cashback. Thanks TA!

    • They have it for $388 online but it doesn't have a lens. Did you get the one with a lens?

      • +1

        Yeah, he price matched it

        • JB HiFi at DFO southwarf melbourne refused to do price match. When I said about other stores who are doing it, the store person said it depends on stores discretion. I don't believe. I think the store person just did not bother.

        • @pyarravajhala:
Just walked in to JB HI FI North Sydney asked if they would price match with Office Work at $398, the bloke said thats really good deal and went to speak to his manager. After couple minutes he came back with YES so i purchased right on the spot. He did encourage me to buy SD Cards, bags and etc but i said No.

  • nice, which JB store, tempted to try the one in Elizabeth St.

    • My one was in Sydney, but just showed them the office works page, and done!

    • +1

JB in Wollongong happy to match off Officeworks site on my phone.

  • Woot, the wife is at OW paying for mine now.

Called up at 8am and got them to hold it.

It's my first real camera, can't wait to get home and play with it!

  • I Just place Nikon D3300 on hold which was the last stock on store at Auburn Officework.
    So I can get $100 cash back through nikon website? which means $398 - $100 = $298 wow…..

    • How many do they have in total?

  • One left at Port Macquarie an hour ago. Best to call first and reserve.

    Excellent find thanks TA.

  • Hi, anyone have a copy of the new catalogue or a link?
Want something a bit more substantial when I go to JB and try and get a price match.
Because there is no stock left in OW I don't think a print from their site would be any good.

    David.

    • Just walk in seek for a price match with office work, despite low stock its worth a shot.
I rang OW and they had no stock and kindly assist other OW with stock.

  • Thanks TA.

Not sure if we can manage to get one but got a question to the people who bought it.

Is it ready to use out of box? or do we need buy anything else like lens etc?

  • +1

I am not rush to buy this camera. I still remember how stressful last time I buy a bargain camera, now I left it somewhere in my house. Considering your need before you buy ( I know it will be anti-ozbargain spirit, lol). My phone is handle almost everyday task

  • just picked one up at richmond store no worries, still had a few more in stock

  • I tried calling office works werribee. They said they can't sell it until Thursday. When I mentioned about other office works stores who are selling, the store person said who ever had sold it can potentially get fired.

    • haha classic. at the store I went to she just scanned it like it was a normal item and it came up as $398

    • They sound dumb, It's on the flipping website at this price and if they have stock they can't withhold it.

  • +1

Just walked in to JB HI FI North Sydney asked if they would price match with Office Work at $398, the bloke said thats really good deal and went to speak to his manager. • Any chance you can upload receipt or send it personally to me ?

    • I went there this afternoon and they gave me the runaround first telling me there was no stock and then when they were caught out on the lie just said they cannot do it because OW was "out of stock". Poor form JB!

      • I guess it depends who serve you.

        • I should make the whole company pay for their transgressions. When I worked in retail there was one voice for the company and we had to be accountable for what we said.

  • I'm looking at the one on JB HIFI website - it says body only?

I managed to get Harvey Norman to price match with Officeworks to $398
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/cameras-printers-stationary/c…

The guy also had to check with his manager

    • Any receipt or can you private message me it ?

    • Which HN?

  • lol some idiot bidding for at least $460 on a lost D3300 at the sydney airport auction.. and this is before the 16.5% buyer's premium too lmao

    http://www.pickles.com.au/general/item/-/details/Nikon-D3300…

    • +1

at one stage i was bidding $350 if you look at N.O. from Lidcombe LOL
      Luckly someone over bid me

      • 9:40am… did you not see this thread lol?

  • I too JB'd it! ;-)

Funny tho.. I asked Dick Smith, Myer and Georges Cameras - and all refused to match price.
Can you believe Myer had this same model for 899!! Ludicrous!!

    Nice one TA!

    • Was told original price in OW is $800.

  • +1

Can we get any uploads of receipts of price matches from jb hifi or harvey norman would help in getting them to price match or could someone private send me theirs ?

  • Managed to get one from Monavale. Called them and asked to reserve one, picked up in 15-20 mins. They have one left an hour ago.
    Thanks TA

    Wow, you people!

  • Anyone else getting a "Sorry, a reward is not available" for entering the cashback?

  • who ever wants a copy of Receipt from JB HI Fi matching officework price which i bought just couple hours agom send me a message to [email protected]

    • Just sent u a email mate, thanks!

    • Thanks mate, got price match at JB Hifi. $299 for the body and $99 for the lens.

  • Just purchased the last one in Officeworks Altona.

  • +1

Not looking good for the cashback. Just went to claim using the Officeworks as the purchase store. Tells me no rewards are offered. Changed to Harvey Norman and comes up with $100. Is it working for anyone else.

    • you just need to log in to the cash back website and your entitle $100 bank transfer. Simple as that

    • hmm.. tried the link and it's saying this with attempted redemption. May have to email them?

Sorry, a reward is not available.
Thank you for entering your NIKKOR purchase details. Unfortunately, your purchase is not eligible for a reward or the redemption period on your purchase has now expired. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your claim: [email protected]

      • This has only started in the last hour or so. I tested it at lunch time and it went through fine, now getting the unavailable message.

      • Yeh thats true, Luckly i bought through JB HI Fi price match and gone through the application without the hassel

    • I have tracked the cashback claim page for more than a week, Office Works had $100 redemption until today morning. Now its gone :(

    • you are right, looks like its not working. Deal has been ozbargained.

Guess I need to return the box to officeworks.

  • Thank you for this Awesome Listing for this item.
    Muchos Grassiass.. :-)

  • I am very new to this DSLR camera. So I got a couple of questions which might sound stupid:
    1. Is this camera better than a point and shoot when using on auto ( as I have no idea how to use the features that comes with this camera)?
    2. Is there online course that I can learn on how to use this camera to get the most out of it.?

And thanks Ta, I bought one eventhough I don't know how to use it apart from auto mode.

  • Guys if you buy through OFFICE WORK YOU ARE NOT ENTITLE TO $100 CASH BACK,
Go else where that matches price like JB HI FI and claim the $100 cash back

    • It said to me my cash back was valid, hasn't arrived in my bank account yet for obvious reasons

  • What the hell, I tried to redeem the cashback and got the message: "Sorry, a reward is not available. "

  • Hi anyone else getting
Sorry, a reward is not available

put in office works and todays day

Thank you for entering your NIKKOR purchase details. Unfortunately, your purchase is not eligible for a reward or the redemption period on your purchase has now expired. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your claim: [email protected]

    • Hi anyone else getting

seriously do you even bother reading any of the comments directly above yours??

    • What I'm guessing is Nikon will only honour the cameras bought from Officeworks from Thursday onwards. I may be wrong though.

      • I think office works missed to mention the fact the price is only after cashback, now they trying to fix it.

      • I think you're right TA.

The Nikon website doesn't state that OW is excluded from cashback and the advertisement states $100 cash back through Nikon.
Maybe all will come right on Thursday, but I may try and nab one at JB before it's too late!

  • Unable to get cash back reward.

guess I got to return the box to Officeworks, and get refund.

    • maybe wait til thursday?

      • yeah, may be. Thanks.
It was working couple of hours ago, but I didnt claim as I didnt have my receipt with me (managed to buy this thru a friend).

  • +8

Ok called up the cashback phone line, they say to use Other, and the Other and then type in the full name of the store

    • if this works you are a legend

  • +1

If you click on the terms and then onto this link http://mynikonlife.com.au/partners/buy-local-buy-peace-of-mi… it has OW as a Nikon Australia Authorised Reseller. I am sure you won't have problems claiming, probably just their stupid site glitch.

  • +2

not sure if its been mentioned, but just a heads up for anyone purchasing and claiming the nikon reward:

when i entered the model:D3300, store: Officeworks and, Location: Milton, it came up with an error. just got off the phone with Nikon Customer Service and they said for "Store" and "Location" just put "other" then in the "please specify" section just put (in my case) Officeworks - Milton :)

also 1 left at milton location in queensland when i left today.

    • Thanks for letting us know. I'd sent an email off but will take a lot longer for a reply. I've followed the bouncing ball with the "other" selection, we just need to wait and see what happens. The first thing I did was start packing the camera up again when the redemption failed. I'm still not sure if I would take it back but it would be nice not to have to make that decision.
