Nikon D3300 Digital SLR with 18-55mm Single VR-II Lens Kit $298 After $100 Cashback @ Officeworks

2140

Well this is embarrassing. Two posts in a row from our old mate theearth. But they're just too good not to post on OzB. So all pride aside, and full credit to the great man. Sale starts Thursday. No idea if it's instore only, or available online in which case delivery should be free.

EDIT: Thanks to the link provided by Firey1989, seems this price is available now with free delivery. Store stock levels should increase Thursday when the catalogue sale officially starts.

Update:

There appears to be issues with their cashback form. They advise the following:

use Other, and the Other and then type in the full name of the store

Officeworks is listed as an authorized seller.

  • I just got one from OW Maroochydore, the guy said they received a "few" this morning, so maybe they send stock especially for this sale…is worth to check tomorrow morning

  • For anyone in Newcastle, I got one from Officeworks in Warners Bay. When I called they said they had none, but when I asked if they were expecting any delivered, they found they had 2 in stock.
The Rutherford store sad they were expecting stock either tomorrow or Friday.
    Good luck!

    • Yeh I was told by one store they are expecting stock, but in others i've called and relayed this info to,and they said they weren't expecting anything.

      • Well the place I got mine told me they had none in stock, but when I asked if they were getting any in they transferred me to someone else who said they had 2 instore.
Hopefully they're just holding out till tomorrow, maybe call again in the morning

  • For those looking for good camera review sites, I've been reading this one for a long time. See what you think?

  • No stock or back orders in Sydney CBD. Chatswood supposed to have 2, won't bother if display or stolen units.

  • Called up highett Vic. No stock anywhere but werribee

  • Don't even bother to buy in SA. Contacted and no stock. It is ozbargained but OW may face trouble when they advertise and no stock on the 1st day of sale

    • They said while stock last, that mean OW don't last. lol..

  • No stock in QLD either folks. The guy checked and warehouse has nil either. False advertising!

  • Brought an D3200 instead today at OW, can't find any D3300 in store anywhere. Apparently staff in store are having trouble finding it on the system. I really hope the D3200 is a good camera though.

    • Just fyi, the D3200 is not part of the Cash Back promotion. https://mynikonlife.com.au/cash-back/

      • No it's all good, I'm happy with the price I got that I don't think I need cash back

        • How much was the D3200? Can't see that in the website either.

        • +5

@albanyson: It's not on the website, so I'm guessing it's store stock. I was asking for the D3300, when the lady found me the D3200 at a great price. I brought it for $158 this morning.

        • @fury12:
Sounds like a bargain. Well done.

        • @albanyson: Thanks, was a little disappointed before when I couldn't get one of the D3300's. I guess life's full of surprises.

        • @fury12: wow, super price. The D3200 is good as D3300. But its bigger and heavier. Still an awesome camera. Well done!

    • +1

Besides having a low pass filter, I hear that the quality is about the same as D3300. Only other difference is the processor is slower which affects continuous shooting and not able to do 1080P at 60FPS.

I called at 705 this morning to Werribee all stock had already been sold, I also called the Geelong store who had no stock. They called the highpoint store and also bendigo. Appears no stock at all in Vic.

    • Same. Been told there's couple left at Shepparton and Pakenham. My local store informed me they just received a bulletin to announce that they're sold out due to overwhelming demand.

      • Due to them selling them all before the cataolgue start date.
When I went into my Store (Brisbane City, I was there before 7am which is when they open.) I was initially told cataolgue prices started last week. Had to correct him on that based on details in the catalogue. Spoke to a supervisor who then said prices started yesterday, again had to correct him.
Not bad, bull shi*$ed to twice in the spell of 5 mins.

      • Thanks I'm going to try price match at jb. Really need a camera.

        • Do tell us which store if you're successful! I tried yesterday at the two JBs at Maribyrnong and both managers said no to the much lower price.

  • +1

    Got one!!
Got JB world square to price match.
Thought it was going to fall over when the guy said he had to check stock but came back and said ok.

    • Thanks for the tip. Just got one from there, too. Same story.

      • Sold out now. No stock

  • Just tweeted officeworks for stock levels in brisbane and surrounding suburbs. Below is the conversation:
Hi Officeworks! this is Satya from Brisbane city. Can you please advise which store around Brisbane has Nikon D3300 in stock.
Hi Satya, it doesn’t seem that any of our Brisbane city or surrounding stores have any stock remaining of this camera. Apologies for this. ^LH

    • Yup, I was in the City store as their 1st customer this morning. The guy checked their other stores in QLD and even checked their main warehouse (as I asked to order one in) and it was zero stock. The stores won't be getting any more in.

From what I can gather from other forums etc.. Stores were NOT supposed to sell their stock until today (Catalogue start day) but MOST failed to follow this direction and sold them anyway.

      • Yeah you are right! I wanted to know the stock so that i can at least claim the price match guarantee from good guys but none of the office works from Brisbane have it and the deal is not available on-line so cant do much i guess. I can read JB hifi sydney cbd is doing it, It will be good to know if anyone tried to convince any of the Brisbane stores to price match.

        • My experience with JB in Brisbane for pricematch is not good. Not once have then accepted despite item genuinely being in stock and opposition.

  • Guys who already purchased, theres a great deal on EBAY might check it out,

    SanDisk 64GB 64G SDXC SD Extreme Pro 95MB/s Class 10 UHS-I U3 4K 633X Flash Card
@ $46.50 delivered (Hong Kong Seller) its a bargain.

    Nikon EN-EL14a ENEL14a Batteries For Nikon D5100 D3200 D3100 P7000 P7100 EN-EL14
@ $26 delivered (Hong Kong Seller) its a bargain.

Anyone know a good small compact DSLR bag for travel?

  • Just got one at Office Works Toowoomba, QLD. It seems that they still have one in stock. Good luck guys.

  • +3

I just raise this as an issue on their Facebook page. They're investigating and getting back to me. Also emailed their Customer Service Team to complaint also. Will let you know what they come back with.

    • Please do so as I am interested in buying this camera as well. I am really disappointed that it's unavailable anywhere on the first day it was supposed to hit the OW shelves. I don't buy into this 'out of stock' story they tend to run with in such cases. If they weren't willing to sell them for such a low price then they shouldn't have advertised it in the first place.

Edit: I've just talked to an OW staff on their official Facebook page and the lady apologized for the inconvenience (that the product sold out before the sale date) and that they're doing "investigation" as well. But most importantly, SHE SAID THAT THEY WILL NOT BE RESTOCKING THAT SPECIFIC CAMERA. Damn it! I missed out on another great sale, AGAIN!

    • i have done as well .. we'll see

  • I ordered on 10th at 5am! Called OW and they said they have no more in stock and canceled my order. I am really angry!!

  • Called all the stores on Tuesday afternoon, none had stock.
Went in to a store this morning at 7am, no store had stock (was told Vermont South plus one or two others had stock, but when I called they all said that it was sold out days ago already).

Guy I spoke to said that the Nikon D3300 is listed on their system as clearance stock, no more to be ordered in, ever.

  • +1

Guys, JB is doing 15% off cameras, won't be as good as the OW one but not far off, I recall the body and lens is $488, so down to $414

  • I was the first customer today in Sydney's Pitt Street store at 7am. OW employee pulled out his scanner and showed me that there was no stock around, lots of zeros, nothing in the CBD stores, two in Chatswood, another one somewhere else (which I assumed would be display or stolen). A bit of a shame that they sold them all before online. But hey, they had some and some got some. Free markets and a bit of luck, huh? But agree with most of you, frustrating if you play the 7am OZB-sniper-game in front of the store.

  • Just had jb knox city victoria price match. Take the catalogue with you. He didn't check stock levels. Get in quick.

    • +1

Nice, the jb at chadstone homemaker said they don't pricematch ow to me

Too bad don't have time or energy to make a other trip :(

  • +4

Ok fellas let me tell you a story. First of all I do not really need of this thing, then ozbargain blood in me telling me I have to buy it. Went to a OW yesterday and was told someone just put in hold and would picked up last night, I was just little late . Then today I woke up early and went to another one, at 8:30, and they said som3one just put it on hold today!!! B7t its not the end!

Went to jb hifi to price match, the manager told bs story and gave a lot of crap reason to refuse to pricematch, but I forgave him because last time he gave me a pricematch lol. I went to TGG and price match it, guess what? SUCCEED.

TLDR: I pricematched successfully at TGG although I dont want this shit. Done

    • Which store? I tried at TGG in Rockdale NSW today. No luck :(

      • Well it is Ge5op Cross SA.

    • +1

excellent description of ozbargain spirit in action!!!

  • went to local JB near work and they gave me some BS it being advertised as a kit but they only sell separately… booooo!

  • None left at officeworks Marion road SA but was able to get a price match at TGG Marion road. Unfortunately it was the last one they had in stock. Officeworks told me there may be one left at their store in Elizabeth.

Thanks for your great work once again TA!

    • Nope. I am the one ask them yesterday. None stock at Elizabeth

  • Also tried price matching at JB. Helpful sales guy agreed to match price but system would not accept override pricing. He tried to get manager to override but he would not. Explanation given was that the system would not allow price matching if the item was not listed on the competitor's website.

For anyone else trying to price match, I suggest you try TGG first.

  • Im not sure why some store allow match price and some would not under the same JB HI FI, I did manage to get match price with JB HI FI while OW had the advertisement on their website. Harvey Norman seems to match price.
I will be really angry if Nikkon came back and said they can not give me $100 cash back. I will be heading straight to FAIR TRADING

    • You mentioned fair trading but I'm surprised no one has uttered those magic letters ACCC

  • +2

Is this not borderline bait advertising?

Bait advertising takes place when an advertisement promotes certain (usually ‘sale’ prices) on products that are not available or available only in very limited quantities. It is not misleading if the business is upfront in a highly visible, clear and specific manner about the particular product ‘on sale’ being in short supply or on sale for a limited time.

  • I got the last one in a box (they had another one on display) on a price match from the TGG on Mile End, SA. Anyone still interested in one try other TGG, JB or HN stores as most of them will close at 9 tonight. You might be lucky that way. I've also done the Nikon $100 cashback on their site right now and everything has gone through fine and I've got the initial auto email response. Good luck!

  • Finalllllllly after more then 5 different stores rejected price match. Got RED one from Big W. Feel really happy!

    Thanks earth, god bless you.

    • +1

Lucky! I wanted the red one, but JB didn't have it in stock. I hear the red one is faster.

      • Yeah and it shoot fire while taking photos :p

Will exchange with you if you got black one and really want the red one if you will pay $50 on top :D

        • Did Big W match price? never knew Big W had Nikon DSLR
          Hoow much?

        • @OhMaJuck: yes they price matched ow, they did it for $398. They have the basic levels of each brand. They had to look in Google to make sure the red model is the same as the black model.

        • +1

I didn't know about the fire ball feature. I think it might be too dangerous for my purpose. Don't want the kids to be set on fire.

  • Called OW East Perth Weds night - had one in stock and would not sell it until Thurs. I turn up at opening time Thurs, and guess what, sold the night before (by another staff member). No extra stock expected.
All is not lost - JB in Hay St mall price matched.
Thanks TA and all the contributors.

  • Got mine price matched at Big W today, the poor guy called OW and when he mentioned the camera they hung up on him.
Can someone in the know recommend me a quality compact portable carry case for a decent price please? Thankyou

    • +1

I'am in stage of purchasing NIKON - AU00261 Top loader bag $50 at JB HI FI.

  • I went to jb today and got the camera for $500 but get $100 gift card and $100 claim back so not bad

This was at Werribee they had the last body

  • Heading over to the US…how about this N D3300 deal at Target https://blackfriday.com/stores/target/ads/black-friday/page-…

Is the JB deal from 'kindra123' is better or the Target US one with twin lenses, WiFi adapter and bag for AUD $710!? I am thinking JB…

    • The Target deal seems to be good. Maybe you should post it.

      Edit:
"US", I thought it was AUD. Maybe not a bargain.

  • +1

Wow, I'm lucky. Grabbed the last one in Auburn NSW good guys just now. Showed them the catalogue then after sales man talked to the manager, had the thumbs up. No further questions asked.

  • Harvey is next cheapes i think at $499 - $100 cashback

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/brands/nikon

  • I scored a price match today at The Good Guys, Mandurah. I had brought in my OW catalog & they did the match, no questions asked.

This, after a knock-back at Mandurah Big-W, after waiting 30 mins for manager to state the price difference was "too great" (& that the red they had in stock was "a different model")—> according to all-knowing manager at Big W = moron. I didn't bother to argue, thinking I'd trot on over to Hardlys' or TGG later.

She then added that this was a "hot seller"— oblivious they had at least 6 in their case. I said, "you'll be holding onto them since everyone else is selling under you by a few hundred". Just another clueless retail manager.

  • Has anyone received their 100 dollar cash back from Nikon yet. I submitted mine on the 10/11/15 and still haven't hard anything. I entered the RRN as the receipt number. I wonder if this is correct or not. I won't take the camera out the box yet until I am 100 percent certain that I am eligible for the cashback.

    • Cash back normally takes over one month.

  • I found an online store that price matches and ships free. No running around and dealing with sales people.

    Just PM me.

    • +1

      Is it a secret?

      • Must be,otherwise It`d be shared with ozbargainers go share deals with he community.

        • Camera Electronic in Perth. I contacted them yesterday and my husband picked mine up this morning.

        • @luztra:
          Nice one. Well done.

  • +1

Remarkably, I found this old expired deal and thought, what the hell! It's a bargain. Lo and behold, a store 30km away had one as a return. Nothing wrong (shutter count of 4!) just the buyer probably registered it for the cashback and then returned it!

As it'd been opened and I won't be able to claim the cashback, they sold it to me for $298! bonus! no hassles claiming and I now have a D3300 with the VR II kit lens new apart from 4 shots! :) I even scored a genuine samsung tab s 8.4 cover which was in a damaged box and randomly hanging around for $5! even better!

So thanks again TA, keep em coming! (with a bit of a break, as the Mrs is getting mad!)

  • got my claim approval on dec 4th afer registering on nov 11th and now 28 days to process so fingers crossed
