What is great about these sims is that you can activate them without adding any credit.

    • Thought you had to. When do they expire after you activate them with no credit. Might buy a stack

    • Orly? That solves a few problems for me :)

    • +1

Sure about that? Going by the Critical Information Summary for the Lebara Standard Plan/PAYG plan, it says "Minimum $5 on activation" so by that I'm certain you need to pay $5 when activating (and minimum of $10 to top-up when required)

Can bypass by over the phone activation (I've done it 10+ times)

        • +1

Can you step out the process and whether it is troublesome?

Through online it indeed needs to activate with at least paying $5.

@wildstone: Phone lebara, choose the option that lets you speak to someone. Once connected, state you wish to activate your sim, follow their instructions and boom.

The only troublesome aspect is the time spent. You could be on hold for 5m or 45m.

            • @Mike444: Worth it when you get some solid new account sign up stuff with doordash, uberOne, guzman, etc; free/cheap meal, cheap grocery store runs.

            • @Mike444: Bought 2 to test

            • @Mike444: Thanks, I wonder if Live Chat will work the same. If so, will be more convenient than calling.

Good for porting out of boost and back in?

    • +3

It's what I do but it requires you to activate over the phone to bypass the min spend for activation.

      • How do you do Id check then with the automated phone system

        • +2

I use driver's licence over the phone for ID check (if that's what you're asking)

It's not automated - I have to speak with a human.

          • @Mike444: Ah OK. Will try tonight. I usually use medicare card. Easy to change expiry date and number if you are hacked and is free.

how long could you keep the number without any credit pls?

Why not get 2x for $1.49 on eBay?

    Can’t comment as I haven’t bought

    Edit: bought to test :)

    • Even if that eBay seller got those SIMs for free, surely the $1.49 would be eaten up by postage, the evelope, their time and eBay fees? How are they doing it?

… or maybe the better question is why

      • +1

Dealer get paid if the customer activate and recharge $10 and above.
For lebara, it's $2 for $10 first time recharge.
$10 for $30 first time and second recharge.
Seller sell at a lose to wish the customer recharge and gain.

        • Thanks, makes sense now.

    • New link :))

Pay $2 online for the eSIM, and save a trip to the shops.

  • A friend tried and said that they did not activate without adding further credits over the phone

    • They did or did not? Are you saying they still have to pay $5 through phone?

  • I picked up a couple of the $24.90 sims for $6 each from Coles today

  • Can this be activated and just be used for phone verification purposes without adding credit?
If so how long is the number active without topping it up?

  • great

I’m looking for an as cheap as possible SIM that I need to transfer to before I can go back to Coles mobile. Their new customer plans are cheaper than recharge usually. Can anyone recommend any?

  • So I bought this but it only gives me options to choose a 30 day plan ($24.90+), long term plan ($160+), or data plan ($22+).

I can't see any standard or payg plan to choose from. Is it even possible to pay $5 for just keeping this number for a few months?

    • Is there an option to activate and "recharge" for $5 ?

      • +1

I found it. Only in browser, not the app like it says on the box. Just Google Lebara activate. Pretty straightforward

  • not really a burner when you need to use ID

  • Can anyone else confirm activation on the phone without $5?
