You can bring down another 30 by adding some other stuff worth more than 3aud, app only.
If you use foreign address to join, it is always free, QANTAS only rip off AU customers.
I am wondering if anyone really paid for it, all other airlines even give free points for sign up, and Qantas might be only one charge…
