Really amazing headphones, I purchased a pair awhile back in December when they were $160. According to Camel tracker though these headphones fluctuate greatly since December but $172 seems to be the minimum point at each cycle.

These headphones are a high-end German brand of headphones which I personally would say trump the Audio-technica line. JB also says yes to the brand: http://www4.images.coolspotters.com/photos/773524/justin-bie…

The main selling point of these headphones is the ability to manually control the amount of bass through sliders that reduce or increase the amount of air that passes through. Otherwise if you are looking for a portable, durable, detachable headphone which excels at rap/hip hop, pop and funk then the COPs should be for you.

IMPORTANT: The item says "Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S." but I was able to go through to checkout when I selected Amazon as my buying choice.

An extremely short review: Custom One Pros are really nice cans, so long as you're not interested in a completely flat set of 'audiophile' phones. They drop off a little at the high end so they're not as sparkly as other high-end phones. Crazy well constructed, replaceable cable, will last you a while.

Review part done, I'd just like to point out to people that if you're going to be buying a pair of headphones worth this much, you should really be investing in a headphone amp as well. You'll appreciate the headphones twice as much when they're decently driven.
Remember that time you first heard a set of decent headphones, and went "Wow, spending a few more dollars really makes a huge difference"? You'll experience that all over again. Even if you only drop $30 on something like this: http://headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=574

(I promise I'm not associated with any headphone amp dealers. :P)

Agree and Custom one pro is only 16 ohm Fiio e6 would be more than enough. If it's me I would also invest a cheap DAC like hifime sabre dac http://hifimediy.com/index.php?route=product/product&product…

A headphone like this need a decent DAC to truly appreciate the capability. Also a good audio file 192kbps file would be a bare minimum.

      • I have a pair of ATH m50's would it be worthwhile buying an amp for them? Is it just connected between the headphone and ipod?

        • +1

IMO yes definitely worth adding an amp but since m50 is quite easy to drive the difference will be subtle but still noticeable. Just remember to get a LOD cable for the ipod rather than using the headphone out directly from the ipod.

        • Thanks for the heads up will definitely look into it!

        • An Amp will most definitely make a difference. The Fiio e6 (see the link above) is an awesome, compact little fella that will make your music sound better. I bought a used one off ebay, along with a Sandisk Sansa that was part of the deal. It's one of the best investments I've made to date.

The E6 also has 4 modes that you can operate the amp in. Two of these enhance the bass quite a bit so if you like a little bit more in the lower frequencies, especially in music that has soft bass notes, it will really bring the bass out.

As mahdi8 points out, make sure you get the Line Out (LOD) accessory for your i-device.

      • To be honest, if the price of these headphones is really pushing it, an amp is not really necessary to drive the COPs. Without my Fiio (I tend to forget to charge my assortment of tech) they still sound great on my Clip Zip.

coincidently I watched this youtube review last week. highly regarded

  • I have three vacant headphones stands. Need to resist buying….

    • sell them :P and then buy!

  • I own apiar of Beyerdynamic DT770 "drummers" headphones that I purchased several years ago from a US Ebay seller. The build quality was extremely good, definitely superior to Audio technica and Shure for example. I purchased them to wear in noisy environments, since the isolation is very good compared to other closed back phones.

    • Those were endorsed by JB before he made a devil's pact with Dr Dre. ;)

I wish the COPs had your sheepskins.

  • How does this compare to wired HS like ath m50s? Huge difference or barely noticable?
And how does it compare to RS180 Sennheiser?

Thanks! So tempted to grab this :O

    • It really depends what sound signature you are aiming for. The COPs will be bass heavy so they will appeal to genres like rap/hip hop while the m50s has more balance. However with the slider, you can change the sound signature to suit the song that you are listening to. The COPs take longer to burn in than the m50s and take 8 hours to sound a lot better and 60ish hours to sound great.

I haven't used the RS180 but sennheisers tend to be overpriced online for their quality because of Sennheiser's local licensing contracts with distributors. I'd prefer the COPs over the sennheisers.

      • You can't change the sound signature by adjusting that bass slider, it merely "adds" bass.

        • Actually yes you can. In Layman's terms, I was able to move from a cold sound to a neutral and then to a warm sound.

  • One of the video reviews says they can use an in-line microphone for gaming, has anyone got any info on what mic would work and cost?
    Cheers

      Something like this?

It would be great if these headphones could use the VModa kevlar cables <3, they'd be absolutely perfect in build quality.

Other than that, the mic cables VModa makes (with only inline remote) are only suitable for apple products.

    • I wouldn't go in-line unless you are really confident it won't degrade sound quality (anything reasonably priced will, I'd think…). Better off with a clip on. I'm a big fan of the cheap and nasty deal extreme one…

Edit: ok, so there's decent in-line if you spend.
