TOPBUY Havaianas - marked as NOT AUTHENTIC

Hi ozbargainers,

this is in regards to a recent deal posted approximately a month ago (if you feel the need to find me as an idiot for purchasing it, then you are right.. i was ): )

as you are aware, there are multiple recent comments indicating that it is FAKE. i, myself have gotten my sandals and can verify that this is 100% FAKE.

some of the clear indication is simply by the fact the Brazilian flag was GLUED onto the sandals… i find that very unprofessional even for a fake.
there are also many other indications that i have managed to approach Paypal with and i really hope they can do something about this.

overall, i don't think i will ever buy from topbuy.com ever again.

the purpose of this post i guess is to warn others about topbuy in general… i may or may not be correct to say that all their products has a high risk of being "fake".

    Is someone or a mod able to get hold of a Topbuy rep (Gman I think) to reply to this or the original deal post.
    I see Gman has private messaging turned off.

    im not too sure.. if there is anyway to even get in touch which their rep that would be really wonderful..
    i would have rather bought it off COTD which i had the option to without being sold out but decides not to because i already made this purchase…

    i have made it clear with paypal that i will never purchase anything from topbuy and this has put a negative image towards not just me but many others.

      i have received parker pens from cotd which i'm confident is fake as well

        pretty sure the one hour deals are not fake ones.. id be surprised if the thongs are fake from COTD…

    I received the thongs a few days ago - with the replacement Brazil flag thongs in an incorrect size and sent them an email to which I received

    "Hello dear customer,
    We are very sorry for all trouble caused, but we are 100% sure they are authentic.
    We still like to issue $49.96 coupon to make you happy, please advise is it that ok?"

    I am not sure how to prove that they are fakes but I definitely do not want the Brazil flag thongs and would rather a refund for the whole fiasco.

      LOL a coupon for more fake products.. i sorta wont be buying from them anymore after.

      i lodged my paypal claim so hopefully money back and never again from top buy (:

      Definitely insist for a refund rather than the coupon.
      I haven't received mine yet. But I've already given up my hope. It will be fake and probably a wrong size + wrong style.
      Personally I bought from Topbuy couple times before, got the mbeat USB hub and my samsung galaxy note (from dutyfreecentral, topbuy owns it). They all seems fine.
      But after this incident, I will never ever deal with Topbuy anymore. They stuffed up Big Time this time!

    I haven't had a genuine Havaianas before so can't tell, but they are definitely as uncomfortable as cheapoes from BigW or KMart. Can't imagine this is the right quality for $20+ thongs. How can I tell if these are fake for sure?

    I just received my pair. But they seem identical to the ones described on their website. I can't tell if they are counterfeit or not. They seem comfortable. They also seem to have all the correct markings and a tag saying they are made in Brazil and are authentic.

    Looking at them and comparing them to the official website they seem identical. So I am inclined to believe I received the real deal. (Mine don't have the Brazil flag and are just the Top Havaianas as in this link http://www.havaianasaustralia.com.au/HTCT2670WEB/Top/pd.php?…)

    Thanks for this. They are definitely counterfeit. They are almost identical except for:
    The tag is missing the hologram and the oval pattern seems slightly more elongated. Also the holes look punched in. They are pretty difficult to pick counterfeits. The hologram is the main thing to go back with.

    Just received confirmation that I've been refunded through pay pal. No hologram and no writing on the inside of the strap. I received mine today and opened a dispute an hour ago.
    They just don't look and feel like real Havaianas.

        Escalate to a claim! I got no reply from topbuy. But just got an email from PayPal said I got refunded. I escalated to a claim on Sunday.

          Awesome! Sent one more message to seller first and received refund today.

          Such a joke to do that to customers. Should be ignored for good, they certainly will be by me!

    I just did it through pay pal, not Topbuy. Ticked the box that said they were fake, imitations and not the goods that were ordered.

    I also got a refund through Paypal within 2 days, I also posted PayPal the 2 discussions on OzBargain, which may have sped it along.

    I got refunded through Paypal, but I didn't escalate the claim. Seems Topbuy refunded me themselves!
