      256 is RAM
      It has 512MB in ROM memory but as with all Android phones most of the memory is reserved for the system partition.

      You end up getting roughly 200~250MB, and that's if you don't have any carrier bloatware installed.

    it is technically the correct thing to do because it's the same mince - no one buys it, it has literally been sitting in the refrigerated session for the last two years (check the expiry date on each pack!)
