LG 55" LED Smart TV (55LM7600) - $1496 @ JB Hi-Fi

500

LG 55" LED Smart TV (Model number: 55LM7600) is currently on sale for $1496 at JB Hifi.

I know that LG's 2013 TVs are soon to be released, so I'm guessing that JB Hifi are basically trying to clear their stock of this one (a 2012 model). Most reviews for this TV are very positive:

By way of comparisons, the next cheapest price I can find is BingLee at $1,799; The Good Guys have it for $1,844.

Update: The Good Guys have now reduced their price to $1,494 too (Credit to @alanslho for the find):

Bought this about 6months ago for $2000. Very nice TV. 200Hz and dual play! (if your into split screen gaming)

    • +5

I actually bought it last week at $1,650 (bargained JB down a bit) then saw this price come out a week later!

Went back in last night and they gave me a $150 gift card as compensation! Was most impressed!!

      • Great to hear that JB did that, as I dont think they have an official price guarantee policy.

Good Guys have a 30 day price guarantee, so if you do find it cheaper within 30 days they will credit the difference plus 5%.

I used this when I bought an LG 60" TV a few months ago, and 2 weeks later Dick Smiths had a sale on so Good Guys gave me a credit (around $17) to beat it.

Hah meeks. I also brought this about 6 months ago. I think I paid $2100 for it.
Yer very happy with TV. Plays everything (inc mkvs and DTS) you throw at it.

      • I hate to rain on your parade, but I doubt it does DTS. It's a TV.

        • +3

he said plays, therefore there is no reason that it can't decode DTS, sure you're not getting all the channels outputted, but we're talking about playing it.

        • I don't think the TV has a DTS decoder in it.

        • +1

It does decodes DTS encrypted audio from mkv files on my NAS.

Dont guess if you dont know. I have this TV and play my HD movies through it all the time!!

Edit: Yer what Chan said.. I claim it decodes DTS. Sure you dont get DTS sound because its does not have 7.1 speakers

        • Mate whatever the TV is changing it into I hope you are getting all the channels. If you are missing the center channel by virtue of the tv missing a center speaker dialogue will be very hard to hear.

        • +1

You guys really need to google the word 'downmixing'…

    • Ah! Good find… I checked getprice before posting and they're still listing TGG's price at $1,844.

    • +4

Remember, 12% off for auto club members (RACQ, RACV etc)! Usually a lot better than pay less pay cash.

      • Is that 12% off on top of the already reduced price? I take it this works with NRMA too.

        • 12% off RRP - which is good for an every day purchase or something you need that is not on special at that moment..

But deep discounts like this are usually better than the 12% off RRP.

      • I'd not heard of this, can't see any mention of it on RAA's (SA) website… Anyone ever received discount using their RAA Card?

      • Good guys are no longer apart of the show your card and save deal. Would've been an awesome price if so though.

        • +1

Are you sure? Only speaking for QLD, but I got 12% off a Breville toaster four days ago on special. Also got a Nespresso Latissima at Christmas, 12% off on special.

They also never even once looked at my card, I just mentioned it and they took off the discount. For those Ozbargainers with the balls (in QLD at least) go for it, even if you're not a member!

Edit: By the way, I actually am an RACQ member. My balls are not made of steel.

I really like the no hassle battery free passive 3d on these tv's and great picture quality .

  • Been watching this TV for a very long time. Awesome deal. Does anyone know if Harvey Norman has it on stock? Would love to get the 22 months interest free on this beauty.

$25 one-off cost to set up your account. + $4.95/ month = $133.9 in charges

      • Am happy to go with that, $1496 + 4 years Warranty = Too expensive to fork at once. This LG series has been discontinued recently. So if you get a replacement warranty on this and anything happens to it, they will definitely replace it with something new.

        • +2

          No… they'll fix it.

        • +1

Just coming from jb. They will replace it with same value t.v.

        • +1

          Rarely they repair these days.

  • Hey guys, are LG TV's any good? In my mind they're not as good as Samsungs but they seem to have upped their game in the past couple years?

edit: I guess the reviews are good…

    • +3

IMO Passive 3D is much much better than active.
Though to be honest we dont use 3D very often…

    • After having several samsung products fail on me and seeing the in home performance of samsung tvs owned by friends I stick with LG.

      • -1

LG performance is comfortably behind Samsung.

        • Your personal opinon only.

    • +1

Bought this TV, very happy with it :)

I'm stepping away from Samsung as well due to the very same reason ^

      • Longevity and quality are not in the samsung vocabulary.

  • -8

Aldi had a 58" TV for only $888 last week, I believe it was LED too.

    • This is a full 200 Hz TV. Its also a smart 3D passive with a unique dual play function (which is good for video games only).
If the Aldi one for $888 had all that and a same quality screen its a bargain.

      • Think he's talking about the Brahn el cheapo tv…

        • Yeah I was, if you just want a cheap giant TV and don't care a lot about picture quality, it's probably good enough at near half the price for a 3" larger display.

      • The screen is higher quality?

      • -4

If you're buying an LCD or LED you don't care about picture quality in the first place.

        • -3

We have both plasma and LCD… we only use the lcd as the main tv as the picture is far better. Plasmas are also cheaper for a reason these days?

        • You're incorrect, sorry.

        • +1

Cardz, didn't you see the signs…DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!! :p

        • OLED is not LED, congratulations on having no idea.

        • -1

Actually it is.. what do you think it stands for?
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OLED

You should think before your next post.
Congratulations on congratulating someone who has no idea when you have no idea.

        • I'm afraid it's you who should consider thinking before your next post, you've got no idea what you're talking about.
They are COMPLETELY different technologies with VASTLY incredibly different picture differences. To even begin to compare the two is utterly embarassing. It's akin to the liberals comparing wireless broadband as an NBN solution vs the proposed fibre optic, that's how dense you look comparing OLED and LED.
          No, I'm not joking.

If anything, you're just further concreting my initial point, you know very little about actual picture quality, "200hz" does not even come close to what's important in picture quality and touting it as a feature is (yet again) embarassing for you.

OLED is vastly superior to not only LCD / LED(LCD), it's better than CRT and better than the plasma technology I was initially talking about

Please stop, for your own sake.

        • -2

There is several different kinds of LED technologies.
Didn't you read what I linked?

Seriously all you do it criticise and make facts that are not accurate. Sure a plasma has a slightly better picture than standard cheap LED on the market today but the new OLED which are still a LED technology (read the link!!!!) are far better than plamsa in picture quality (more reading!!) - Hence you are wrong!!!

Whilst Plasma are slightly better as blacks they are far worse in brighter rooms and far worse on power consumption. So perhaps you could be more useful at the reasons for your assumptions and your hate towards LED technology. Provides some links and stop being such as jerk…

        • I clicked the link, I read that article several months ago, I don't need to read any more than that.

This sale thread is discussion about a regular LCD LED panel, it's not an OLED - to even compare them is deceptive and ignorant.

You're touting old information about Plasma as if you know what you're talking about when it's clear you don't by trying to pull a fabricated argument out of thin air using OLED as facts which are irrelivant to this discussion.

Plasma has superior blacks to both LCD and LED and most importantly it has superior contract to them as well.
Burn in is a complete thing of the past and power usage differences are now minimal at best, same with thickness of the device.

What is the best known TV you can currently purchase new? All reviewers know this, all videophiles know this, it's the VT series 65" Panasonic plasma, that's the definitive image in the world right now, except the ONLY known OLED in actual production for home consumers in Korea, a 55" display at 10,000$

You know why I can be such a jerk and still get thumbs up? Because I'm absoloutely right - and my point still stands - why spend 1500$ on a 55" LED display when a 58" LED is 888$ at Aldi, or a superior panel (65" Panasonic ST series) is as low as 2000$ now (I know, I just got one at this price 2 weeks ago.)

I'm happy to stop being a jerk when you either, stop replying OR stop replying with incorrect information.
Plasma > LCD and Plasma > LED (which IS LCD with some backlight tweaking)
OLED beats them all, so you got 10,000$ for one?

        • -2

          Sorry you are still wrong..

I ran out of negs for you. Anyone else wanna have a try explaining?

        • Hi hamwhisperer, just wondering where you bough the THP65ST50A from for $2000? was it a display or brand new unit?

        • Brand new unit, only issue is it's in Traralgon, so shipping was 150 - but if you pick it up, 2k. Incredible price- there's a receipt scan in the Panasonic prices thread at whirlpool.

Second best plasma around - but the VT is 5k, for 2k this will ruin any LED / LCD day :)

        • +1

was it from Harvey Norman or JB? seems like I couldn't find the receipt scan for this price on whirlpool though

btw, is it the THP65ST50A (65") or the THP60ST50A (60") coz the 65" is selling at $2400 currently…that seeems ridiculously low for $2000

ps: I agree with you on the Plasma PQ much much better than LCD/LED anytime

        • -1

          Exciting stuff starts here
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1898817&p… ( I can confirm I got one from same store too)

        • You know why I can be such a jerk and still get thumbs up?

You're not actually getting any 'thumbs up' dude, most people are just ignoring you.

The majority of us have learned to simply sidestep the entire pointless LCD vs Plasma trolling game! ;)

        • "An OLED (organic light-emitting diode) is a light-emitting diode (LED)"

  • How does this LG compared to SONY 60" EX640?
HN, JB is running $1496 and DSE catelog has similar price.

    • This LG one has 3D

  • Has anyone tried bargaining on this tv?

I wonder if this price is absolute..

    • I tried. They told me that they couldn't do any better, as this is basically a clearance price.

      • did you try both good guys and jb?

        • Just JB. I believe that the Good Guys are only offering this price if you purchase this tv from their online store.

You should attempt to negotiate a lower price though. Who knows? You might get lucky! Report back here if you're successful!

        • +2

Bing Lee said no chance of matching.

  • +2

I have this exact model, the passive 3D is amazing, and it can play pretty mch any file off USB (mkv/avi/mp4) with no hassle, awesome TV

Slightly off topic, have ya seen the LG ULTRA HD T.V? WOW!

Then wait 10 years for prices to reach what we have now

I purchased this TV 6 months ago with the GG gift vouchers. It has superb picture quality and it's great for watching sport. This would easily be the best 200hz TV on the market in this price range.

  • Does any have problems connecting to the wireless?

    I have tried the following:

    1. Cut WPA2 password to less than 30 characters
    2. Changed to WPA encryption instead of WPA2

    Still no luck :(

    • I haven't had such issues, however LG should be able to offer you some technical support.

      • Hi LioneRichie,

Thanks for replying. I did contact LG Support yesterday.

They told me to contact the router's manufacturer (Netcomn) as they will need to —and I quote LG Support— "remotely unblock some ports in the router's firewall for the TV to connect" >_<

Anyways, I was able to connect to wireless after updating firmware on the TV (had to Ethernet it) :)

  • Opinion please: This one LG 55" LM7600 OR LG 60" LM6700? what are the feature/ spec difference? I looked and they seem near identical!

    • Anyway end up getting one of this, with $60 extra I have purchased with 2 years extended warranty… if it died in 3rd year hopefully I will get a NEW model replacement Lol

    • Other interesting things is how the JB sale rave about this model, he mentioned although Samsung might have clearer picture, but LG has deeper black and 12 bit panel (vs 8bit Samsung panel)… not sure if he was correct, but he is recommending this against $2700 Saumsung series 8 model! Interesting….

  • Ended up picking this up from JB for $1483. Very happy.

  • Hi Guys, quick question, how is this LG LM7600 compare to Samsung UA55ES6700, which one should i get?
Don't worry about the price, it's only few bucks difference…
I am using S3, so i thought about Allshare thingy with Samsung TV. confuse !!!

  • Picked this up from the Good Guys on the weekend. Great picture.
