Quote:
Logitech knows a thing or two about making top-notch portable speakers, and scaling down the size hasn’t diminished its skills. The 11.6cm-wide Boombox is a truly palm-sized speaker. Its nifty backlit touch control panel looks the part, but it can be a bit awkward in use, and it makes the Mini look like a ‘90s clock radio.

Its hands-free phone function, is fiendishly simple, though, and depending on how loud you like your music, it claims an impressive 10 hours of tunage at a 10-metre range. This cranks out a loud and clear sound, handling bass so well that we were left wondering where it all comes from. If you’re on a budget, this is the sonic champion by a mile. The Mini offers physics-defying ability at an amazingly low price.

Most likely a runout of old stock, this model has been superseded by this model:

I got one of these cheap after i won a voucher from logitech. Had it since they were first realeased and what can i say…

Mine lives permanently next to my bed plugged into my media center which is serving its media to a projector. The sound quality is pretty good, i have heard better but for the sound you cant complain. As for the bass, it isnt ideal. Also, at full volume any big bass drops cause the entire speaker to shuffle.. including off the bench one day. Something to be wary of.

The handsfree function is horrible… Works, but its absolutely terrible.
If you're after a cheap bluetooth speaker though this is probably it.

Thanks for that insight. I'm exactly after a cheap bluetooth speaker ;-)

    • Yeah thanks, shame abt the handsfree bit - thats what I would need it for.

for $2 more, get the Aldi bluetooth speaker instead.
The sound is clear and Bass is good.
at max level, sound is still good,
(i was expecting some distortion but no, it's all good).

Not a true mobile solution though compared to the rechargeable batteries of the Logitech one.

      • Yep I wanted a mobile one with batteries that lasts a reasonable time

don't bother if you are in nsw metro… from hornsby to liverpool to parra, it's out of stock

  • I also got one of these through a special deal (free with an iPod touch) some time ago….. Cons are the touch buttons can be a little hard to see in sunlight, and the hands free is - as already noted - awful ( so do not buy it for that). But the sound is good given the size. If you want something similar, but with better sound then you'll probably need to consider something like a Jawbone Big Jambox - but they are also significantly more expensive.

This summer the kids were in the pool with an iPod touch (in a waterproof case) playing music via Bluetooth to the mini boom box out of splash range - worked a treat. ;-)

  • I've got one of these though I paid about $99 for it from DSE last year, and only a few months ago saw them in Big W for $129 or there abouts. It's a pretty good little unit, I use it for the bathroom and my shed. Puts out good volume and sound quality is decent for that it is - I just connect it to my phone and adjust the volume with my phone rather than using the touch buttons though.
