This is so tempting. It's a case of want not need.

    • +1

same here , I read some video reviewing saying the sound quality is not as good as the original neogeo.
It seems like a box loaded with emulator…

      • +1

        that is because it is

take a dingoo and some emus and you have this scam product

f**ked if I would ever pay for pirated software :/

        EDIT: http://boards.dingoonity.org/other-game-systems/neogeo-x-hac…

        • So this is a rip-off of a dingoo!? I knew the handheld looked kind of familliar.

        • +1

I thought this was released by the actual Neo Geo company? Yeah it might be an emu, but it's not pirated or a scam.

        • +1

          dingoo costs ~90 on ebay.

the arcade stick itself is ~50.
and you get 20 games + 1 extra game.. not bad i say..

        • licesnsed by SNK who couldn't be arsed to actually check what they were licensing

the emu software onboard is an unlicensed copy of FBA (and supposedly also contains other unlicensed and disabled emus). Combined with a shitty 16:9 screen (instead of 4:3), poor video quality and lack of save states/extra credits…. the "good thing" you get a modern copy of the NG stick, but for $130

      • don't you mean need, not want? :)

  • OMG! I wanted one of these when i was younger and loved Metal Slug and Samurai Showdown…So tempting

  • Still missing quite a lot of my favourites. Garou: Mark of the wolves and Blazing Star in particular.

Can you add ROMS to this thing?

  • Actually, reading reviews on other sites - it looks like you can make a better system with a cheap PC and an emulator.

  • tempting.. should i buy.. should i buy..

  • do not buy this is emulated stuff you will have scaling, frames missing and vsync issues on modern TVs

  • video review for those undecided
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iHoOK5HCHA

    • I just watched this review and was gonna link it myself.

I hadn't heard of this device and was mildly interested… until I saw this review. Seems like a piece of crap, and the conclusion of the review is that you'll have a better experience using emulation on a cheap, old PSP.

    • Was about to link the Ashens review as well…haha!

    • Thanks for this. The review makes this look very bad and overpriced waste of money. Why not just use an old pc or laptop and emulator to play these games games. Considering you only get 21 games in this set, some considering these not the best ones the neo geo had. And having to spend extra on more games. Considering the Neo Geo had around 200 or more games.

  • These are horrible and overpriced.

It's just a cheap emulator, nothing like a real Neo Geo AES.

  • Please does anybody know whether, considering it's buying from the US, will it need a stepdown transformer thingy, or is the power supply interchangeable with a 240V one?

    • it doesnt come with any power supply.

      • It does, for the base station.

  • It's gone from being a massively overpriced turd to a hugely overpriced turd. This could have been such an awesome product if only it were not done so poorly.
Still the best price I have seen for it.
Was filling it for a year or two awhile it was being made.

  • Glad I didn't order on release. Only 3 month.

  • Got me excited, I thought it's the real deal until I saw the pic of that handheld docked inside the AES looking thing…

That's ok I've still got an original AES sitting here.

  • just went up ~ $75! US$199 + post.

According to Engadget, later in April -

"…….Tommo will also be including NEOGEO X System Update 1.0 with NEOGEO X Classics: Volume I. …………."

  • its easy to run an emulator on any computer, and for free.

  • arrived. Excellent for this price!

Sure, 1000s of roms will run on an old Pentium. Done it last century. Sure the roms run on heaps of players like the JXD 5110 and the S7300 (with controls) etc. Done it.

Good on yer Eastern Culture for the find!
