  • All I hear is "buzzword, buzzword, buzzword …"

Is it supposed to be lighter than a regular cycling shoe? What is the weight then?
Or are we supposed to be stupid enough to think that anything with carbon-reinforced plastic is Good?

There are plenty of cheaper shoes on CRC etc. What is the benefit here?

    • The only thing that matters is whether its a bargain compared to the going price for this product. It seems like a great price to me :)

  • Benefits are:
    Strong Microfiber Upper
    Nylon Air Mesh Upper
    Carbon HMX Sole
    Adjustable ErgoLogic Removeable Insole
    Stiffness Index 9
    Weight: 365 grams/shoe (Size 42)

    • In Ad-men / marketing speak those are features, not benefits. Except the weight.

FAQ: What is a stiffness index of 9 compared to 8?

A: Well, it's one stiffer, isn't it? It's not eight. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at eight. You're on nine here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on nine on your bike. Where can you go from there? Where?

      • You could check out some reviews on MTBR or similar, or you could buy some and report back.

They've given a model name and a price… it's up to you to decide whether you're willing to pay that price for that product.

I have NFI what "stiffness index 9" means… but carbon/plastic soles are generally stiffer than plain plastic. The rest is pretty self explanatory.

I'm in the market for a pair of good MTB shoes, so I'll do some searching and figure out whether these are worth jumping on. More interested in the width of the toe box than any marketing fluff.

First look thought it was a drill

    • +2

Who wouldn't? Whenever i see the words 'Cycling Shoes' i always think of drills.

  • First thought was a toy gun, then realize it might be a drill or hair dryer, and took me 10 seconds to recognise it's actually a pair of shoes after reading the title.

…but it was too late as you'd already bought it, so as not to miss out on a Bargain. Common problem ;)
