Check compatibility here: http://www.nest.com/installation/#works/?mode=lowes
This is the first gen, check also the 2nd generation for low voltage systems connection
http://www.amazon.com/Nest-Learning-Thermostat-Generation-T2…
2nd generation design - Nest is now 20 percent thinner and works in 95 percent of homes with low voltage systems
Auto-Schedule - Nest remembers the temperatures you like and programs itself
Auto-Away - Nest saves energy by automatically turning itself down when you're away
Remote control - Connect Nest to Wi-Fi to control it from your smartphone, laptop or tablet
Easy install - Most homeowners install Nest themselves in 30 minutes or less. After that, it's just a matter of changing the temperature
Does it support Aus Time Zones yet?
I looked at these last year, but from my conversation with their support guys it would not work so well here in AUS. It's remote access and weather look-up abilities probably would not work, and you can not log into nest web management from out side the US. These problem can be worked around but I just couldn't justify all the effort for a thermostat, If those restrictions have been removed I would buy one.
agree it looks very promising… if only they offered AU support like you say
remote web access is easy to achieve, and with the weather they could use BOM maybe
Interesting concept, but kinda useless to spend $180 when so many homes now have programmable heating/cooling. Ok, you can't "login" to it, but you can set it up to be on when you're home from work. Or just wait 10 mins for heating/cooling to work.
Degree's Celsius
Are you a greengrocer? :) At least you used Celsius and not Centigrade, the unofficial name.
I LOVE my nest 1st gen. This is an excellent price too.
Just to clear up a few misconceptions:
1. The app and web login work fine here. No issues at all.
2. Aussie time zone and weather is not currently supported - this kinda throws out the auto-scheduling feature unfortunately.
But you can set really easy schedules for it rather than using their learning mode.
There is nothing better than driving home from somewhere late at night and thinking "oh it's cold out, I should turn the heating on." Arrive home to a toasty warm house. Bliss.
Plus once you get settled in bed for the night and realise the heating is still on - just grab your phone and turn it off.
No need to venture out to switch it off.
Definitely worth the money in my opinion.
"Aussie time zone and weather is not currently supported"
they can jam it; why buy a product that puts arbitrary limits on where it is supported ? Especially when that affects its function.
does it work with aussie air con systems?
