    Automatic = Mow lawn itself?

    • = woolworth's brand name

    • Get emo grass. Cuts itself = no mower required. Save $246.

  • The last automatic brand 4 stroke lawnmower I bought was $138 and I think it's been as cheap as $128. I fail to see how this $246 version is a bargain.

This Automatic lawnmower have a genuine Honda engine and your $138 mower don't.
As an engine is the heart of any lawnmower , you will always pays more for a good engine like A Honda.

this mower has a more powerful engine than half the motorbikes and scooters i see in the CBD each day

if i come across an extremely thick patch of grass, will vtec kick in yo?

Honda DO NOT put their names on these mowers they are a cheap copy. Buyer Beware

    • But they put their name on engines they made and BigW (Woolworths) wants to show off that exact badge.

its not branded honda, however the engine is honda made.

Its sorta like how Kogan advertises their TV's. The panels are made by Samsung however the rest are made by some unknown probably Chinese sweatshop in china somewhere.

samsung tvs are made by chinese and korean sweatshops in china/korea somewhere

Honda made by cheap labour earning $1 a day n India. Only a fool would think that it is the same quality as a Japan built Honda…

        • Exactly. I looked at a similar lawn mower on the weekend @ Masters. Looked like cheap crap. Even though the engine was a "Honda" it sure looked like a cheap arsed Chinese knocked together job that somehow has Honda's approval to have their name stamped on it.

Wouldn't even compare to the true Honda mowers that cost $700+…
          I'm happy with my Masport @ $380, has a 158cc B&S engine, I'd pay the extra $100~ over this ..

        • Oh look, you've moved the poles on your argument, HOW CUTE.

They're made in China, to Honda's specifcation, and are exeactly the same as the ones they put on their own decks.

Do a little research before you go running your mouth.

  • If you have a up hill lawn you will need automatic.

      It's OK, mine's down hill.

I think what it means automatic is auto drive lawn mower.

Do you know what it auto drive lawn mower?

      • XD

        • So still nobody know what is the difference between auto drive and non auto drive lawn mower?

        • -1

They used to call them self-propelled, a bit easier to understand that.

        • I don't think these are self-propelled.

        • In that case I don't know now, I just assumed this is what they mean automatic.

      • GOLD FOR AUSTRALIA

  • I have a cheap no-name brand mower (NOT one of these in the deal) and the chinese designed and built engine is fine, it's quite strong actually. But the base is not so great - the design of the base or the blades or something under there results in the grass clippings mostly not ending up in the catcher. If the lawn is a little bit wet or has grown to even a vaguely unruly length, the clippings get jammed up in the exit port and pretty soon under the base is clogged.

So having a "Honda engine" doesn't seem all that big a deal to me.

The power of dreams is what counts

    • Same but different:

My genuine-Briggs-engine-on-a-rubbish-Chinese-chassis works pretty well and has held up well for a couple of years, although I don't expect it to last indefinitely.

When it craps out, I intend to find a busted old mower in hard rubbish or Freecycle or something - with a worn out engine but intact chassis - and transplant my good engine on to it.

It's never bad economy to get a whole mower with a good engine for less than the value of the engine… even if the mower itself is nothing special.

  • The k mart ones have a better base and a chonda engine too… around $250 from memory.

No more messing about with gears on your mower, it's an automatic :P
