Hi all,

Origin has an up to 50% off sale, yet one of the first products listed is Battlefield 3 down from $50 to $10. Pretty sure that's more than 50%. Most however are at that 50% mark.

Their maths issues not withstanding, it's a sale, check it out if you want.

          Errrr yes we did.

          I looked into this ages ago when it first came up. Decided it wasn't a problem and installed origin. (and the world didn't end)

      u are not suppose to be able to play without origin (which requires internet).

      But from my understanding there are cracks you can download to make it so you dont need origin but im not sure how legit and legal these are

        Origin has an offline mode just like Steam (whose offline mode is terribly unreliable). It does not require a permanently on internet connection.

      Battlefield 3 Premium is just the extra DLC content (no game)

      Battlefield 3 Premium Edition is the BF3 game plus content.

    It's actually meant to be on sale. The BF3 + Premium is $35 down from $70. Premium alone is $25 down from $50. Premium + normal BF3 is still $35, so BF3 has to be $10.

      I get that it's meant to be on sale, it's just that the sale is called "UP TO 50% off" yet BF3 is clearly 80% off. Hence they suck at maths.

    I got battlefield last night for free, I was playing Simcity and the server crashed, when I exited I had a popup from Origin offering me a free game
    Battlefield 3
    Medal of Honor war fighter
    and a few others.

    my missus jumped on her origin account and did the same and got battlefield as well when Simcity crashed.

    i bought premium edition $34.99, i have bf3 on ps3 but i prefer it on pc for controls and better graphics+ this has extra maps and shit:)

    i bought Russian CD key cheap, but its a pain to change to English every time the game is patched, wonder if i can buy $10 version to replace my current version.

      I had the same scenario. I initially had a Russian version which I got back when bf3 was released, but nowadays it's not worth the effort to continually 'fix' it after every patch. I bought the English version yesterday for $10 and I can confirm it works.

    Thanks for confirming, I agree its not worth the time and downloading files from unknown sites to enable English after every patch. Did you have to uninstal russian version first or just enter new key?

    Had my Origin account hacked and no help what so ever from EA…..never again
    Instantly scanned my computer, all clean.
    I slowly watched some Russian hacker BF3 noob butcher my stats, talk about rubbing salt in to the wounds.

    Pretty certain these Russian hacking mobs have found some loophole, if it were keyloggers etc, why would they take an account with 1 x $50 game over my $750+ steam account?

        Hombre, did you use the same password on other sites? If so some other site could have been copromised and your account stolen that way? If the whole of origin system was hacked you would figure more people would be affected. Still, EA not fixing it is poor form. Someone on the last page contacted them through facebook to fix their account i believe.

    I'd pay extra (and I DO), to avoid installing Origin, or any other latecomer. Steam's given me a decade of flawless, budget gaming & brought me back to the legal & moral side of gaming. Who/what is this Origin - Sorry, but I don't care.

      I like Steam as a system, but it is certaintly not flawless. One thing they could learn from Origin is the download manager. Steam's really sucks ass.

    I was thinking of buying C&C ultimate edition for $20 buts its 41GB download.

    Is it possible to make an iso back up of the download so I can store it on an external hard disk and load it up when I want or must I only be able to install it on my PC.

    Issue is:
    1) Dont have 41GB storage available on the traveling laptop I want to use it on
    2) As using it on a traveling laptop I cant download it when needed

    So prefer to download now and store on external hard disk for later…..is that possible?

      You can change the download & install location, and even keep the downloaded 'installer files' so you don't have to download them again later.

      Steps:

      • Open Origin
      • goto 'Application Settings' from the menu top left

      • under the general tab 'Downloaded games will be installed to …..'

      • To change the location of the download cache, same section as above, last option on that page

      • 'game installers will be downloaded to …'

      Optional:

      • under the same section as above the check box 'keep game installers after games have been installed'

      This works for me, I have both Steam and Origin installed on an external USB3.0 drive for my laptop so the SSD inside doesn't fill up.
