AUTO VUOTO Vacum Robot for $199 on CUDO - Even Returns to The Charging Station for Refuel: )

20

Been looking for one for awhile now …. can't afford the high end one so at $200 with self return to the charging dock seems to be decent.
What's everyone thought on this?

Cheers
(First time poster, please take it easy on me if I've made any mistake ;-) )

      whats left cooking???

It's only a matter of time now before we start seeing food replicators ala Star Trek in our homes. :)

      • and what a glorious day that will be :)

ive not used one yet, but im fairly sure food replicators dont answer back when you tell it to get you a beer……

What? No Tea? Earl Grey? Hot? :D

  • curious to see a 'non addvert demo' of this thing to see how they actually work. The tv adds always show them to be sooo good but i have a feeling they look a bit doggey.

My theory is that if the $1000 models currently available do a barely acceptable job (which they reportedly do), then the $200 model is going to do a worse job and therefore isn't worth consideration.

  • Latest Target catalog has a Philips one for $199 (half price). I'd go for that rather than this.

    • only problem with the phillips one is manual charging, doesn't go back to the base station.

Without the base station function, it feels like just a toy. "Oh there is no more power, must charge for more entertainment".

Sort of defeats the purpose of "unattended" vacuum cleaning.

I suspect you get what you pay for…. with this, as it's not a well-known brand like iRobot/Roomba/Neato/etc etc, there's a risk you might not even get that….. personally I want one that empties itself as well as returns to a charging station. I still wouldn't get one, as I have kids and I can see them trying to put the poor pet rabbit on top of it….

  • Ok, sounds like a No Deal for me :)

    • I have some friends with one of these 'as seen on TV' robotic cleaners and they reckon it does a good job of reducing their frequency of a full vacuum (2 kids).

Its a $200 gamble with no name brands but you will have a 12 month warranty. Personally I agree with the earlier post, get the Philips, brand name and easy returns at Target :)

First question: is it actually a vacuum cleaner, or just a sweeper? Bizarrely, the 'original' robotic vacuum cleaner, the 'Roomba' isn't a vacuum cleaner!

Second question: does that matter anyway?

Third question: are these hackable? I've read that some of the Roomba models can be hacked up the whahzoo, turned into remote controlled robots, etc. If you're a geek, that might be fun.

I have the Samsung one… <googles…> model SR8855. My place is a fairly challenging situation for a robot. Lots of thick rugs, ethernet cables on the floor, furniture, cats, etc. The Samsung copes remarkably well with all of these things, except the cables. The side brushes sweep under the cable, get caught, and the machine gets trapped by the cables and gives up. That's hardly the machine's fault though, I should hide my cables better. It returns to base as advertised and makes a pretty determined effort at actually mounting the base and getting itself charging even when the base is located on the edge of a rug. It goes back to where it left off and stuff like that. It's a fairly competent machine.

The Samsung is actually a vacuum cleaner, not a sweeper. It picks up a lot of stuff. Doesn't have a whole lot of capacity to hold the crap it picks up, so needs to be emptied a bit. Even with all the steps up and down off of rugs, etc, it does a remarkably good job of navigating around the place (it claims to use a camera to watch the room, so wheel slippage will be less likely to get it lost I guess).

Is it a good machine?: yes.
Do I use it?: no. I'm over it. It's a gimmick.
Do the cats sit on it just like all of those youtube videos?: Hell yes! :-)

I just had a quick look on AliExpress. There's some machines there for under $200, even under $100. they're probably rubbish, but if all we're doing here is getting you past an unshiftable desire to try one of these bedevilled machines out, it might do! :-)

    • Good effort on the write up!

  • Also, I had a Roomba (a broken one, never got it running) and the Samsung I mentioned above. Both of these look pretty much the same on the underside as the one you've linked to, so I guess they're all the same in that regard.

You know what, robotic cleaners are a bit of a gimmick, yes, you'll get over it soon enough, but you gotta give it a go, and two hundred bucks is quite a reasonable price. If you've got the dough to burn, go crazy! :-)

  • The Roomba is a vacuum cleaner - unless you're using the High Capacity bin. The normal and aero bins allow the vacuum function.

  • I've had a Roomba 6mths+ now. I'm not over it at all. Love it as much as my dishwasher! It does a graet job. Copes with cat hair, shaggy rugs, oriental rugs, tiles. It navigates around and under furniture.
It does have a small dust catcher & needs cleaning after every vac, but I think that isn't too much effort for a set & go vac that does a good job.
We paid $500ish which included an extended warranty. I expct these machines will start to get cheaper now they are becoming more common.

    • *great

  • better go good brand lower model like roomba samsung, or waste your money. mine is $450 one, got display one for $99, works great, it get full every 2 days.

  • these things are gadgets more than proper vacum cleaner. nice to show to friends etc but you are better off getting vacum cleaner for $200.

    my 2 cents
