    So Postage is free ???

    • Unfortunately not, pick up in store is free but postage is charged. If you go to our website and "add to cart" you can calculate the postage without proceeding to check out. Freight rates start @ $15 and are delivered via private courier with online tracking.

      • Unfortunately not,

Then you should say so in the Title

There, i've sacrificed correct spelling for the shipping :)

If the price you are quoting is in-store only, you must say so…

I've seen movies where they make it fit…

I like the look of this deal a lot, vision tech

but you are cheaping out on the PSU again (this is obvious as you don't name the brand/model, despite giving us that detail on every other spec) and I must neg this deal until you stop doing this.

Please refer to my comments on your previous gaming PC deal to understand my disdain.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92586

    • PSU is Aywun PSU, not a cheap "Shaw" as hated on previously :| I also didn't mention the DVD drive for the record, neg seems a bit unfair. Try pricing the PC up even with a Aywun PSU or even a Shaw for that matter and see the value for money before you neg.

      • +4

This Aywun isn't as bad as most Shaw. But Aywun do make a lot of very bad PSUs. Since you give "True Power" as the model, and Aywun don't have a "True Power" model, it's hard to say exactly.

Their Mega Power Pro and Elite range are built by Sirfa and of reasonable quality. Their ECO ones are Sirfa or Huntkey builds, also of reasonable quality. But still only reasonable, not good/great.

These Aywun 750Wers retail around $90. A good quality Antec/Corsair/etc. 750Wer will set you back $140-$200.

That said, this build doesn't need 750W. The system under full load on all components wouldn't draw more than around 200-250W DC. You'd be better off with a high quality 500Wer like the Antec HCG-520. Similar cost, higher quality, more suitable wattage rating.

    • Given that it's listed as

      750W True Power PSU - 80+ Certified

It'd be a fair assumption that this is an Antec True Power 750W.

But at worst you should be asking for the brand instead of negging based on an assumption that it isn't the most likely thing the name would indicate.

EDIT Hah! Aywun. Ignore this post, you were right.

      • If it was an Antec, VisionTech would say it was an Antec. clearly it isn't, as confirmed. I would never assume that a PSU in a bundled PC was from a reputable brand unless the builder spruiked it as such, because builders know the importance of a quality PSU.

It makes sense that you don't name the brand of the DVD drive as you may put a different model in depending on what you have in stock. Oh, and the DVD drive doesn't run the entire system and cause the risk of damaging expensive componentry if it dies. But you are a professional PC builder, you already know that.

I'm not retracting my neg as you tried to get away with not naming the brand and model of the most essential component in a PC. I'll let the OzB society decide whether they want my neg to apply to this deal, by negging my comment if that's what they want. :)

  • _CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k
    _HDD: 1TB WD HDD 7200RPM
_GFX: Sapphire ATI HD7950 2GB Graphics
    _O/S: Win 7 / Win 8 64bit

If that price include this 4 stuff, I bet it will sell like hot cakes.

    • +4

Where in Australia will you get the above, with those upgrades, for $1028. I bet it would sell like hotcakes too, but unfortunately the Australian dollar isn't worth 1.30 American :P

  • Priced it up with the cheapest retail round here and yeah, it comes to just over 1k , so this is not that bad a deal considering it is assembled.Hitting it with a + unless someone proves it is not value for money for those parts.

    • -7

5 minutes on pcpartpicker gave me better prices: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/GdXP . And that's without looking at prices from cheaper retailers like MSY.

      • I think the PC PartPicker comparison is a touch unfair given it DOES NOT include any shipping costs.

Although PC PartPicker has chosen to buy most parts from one vendor, PC Case Gear, you need to factor that in…

I went to buy a Shinobi XL Window case from PC Case Gear the other day - the cheapest shipping option was $37 shipping to postcode 2121….

you can get the same case delivered from Victoria for $17.55 from CPL Online.
        http://www.cplonline.com.au/bitfenix-shinobi-xl-window-case.…

PC Case Gear will wrap it well, but will rob you on shipping….

        • Pcpartpicker was only used because it's a convenient way of pricing up a system really quickly. It's got limited vendor and part choices in Australia, so it can only be used as a rough benchmark, not for final pricing. Hence my mention of MSY in my comment.

      • Not exactly comparing apples with apples are you? Sure you can swap the GPU with another cheaper (and lower spec'ed model) to save some money. And are you sure a 430w PSU for a GPU that specifically sates > 500w is a good idea?

Not to mention lower performance memory, a case that doesn't even have USB 3.0 on the front etc.

        • I'd trust a decent quality Corsair PSU over the Aywun unit in this build. The estimated wattage at full load of the system I linked is ~300w, so a 430w psu is more than enough, and will run more efficiently than an underloaded 750w PSU as well.

I picked a case that was the same price as the one listed here, as the one here wasn't on pcpartpicker. It was used as a fill in for the price only.

Memory is a moot point as the system here only has a single DIMM on a dual channel chipset. This hurts performance a lot, and no one in their right mind would choose to build a system that way.

GPU I must admit I didn't put much thought into, I just choose a cheap 7850 to fill in the gap.

My overall point, that seems to have been lost, is that you can get a much better PC for less money, thus making this not a good deal at all.

      • +1

You're comparing lower quality powercolour GFX to Sapphire which makes it cheaper, you've downgraded the case to a lower coolermaster model + only a 430W PSU. Sure it's corsair but it's still a much cheaper model which wont allow for any upgrades. + there is no labour or assembly. All in all you've downgraded the machine and made it $80 cheaper and below claim I have a $150 mark up?

        • You've got a point with the case & PSU.

But saying Sapphire is lower quality than Powercolour? That's a ludicrous statement. Come on. They're literally made in the same factory with identical components (barring HSF design which mainly differs on style more than efficiency).

        • +2

You can argue about quality as much as you like - but it comes down to price. And the Sapphire is more expensive for whatever reason…

I have to say my experiences with RMA on Powercolour and HIS cards has been absolutely horrendous and I will never buy either brand again…

        • Sure, say it's $10 more expensive.

But don't blow smoke about the quality or RMA difference between Powercolour and Sapphire.

    • +4

Okay, please show me the $150 mark up buying the parts through other stores. Compare the exact same build to MSY, we're $10 more for an assembled system :| Please prove your claim

  • PC Case Gear:

    • CPU = $189
    • Mobo = $135
    • Ram = $55
    • SSD = $199
    • HDD = $59
    • GFX = $219 (assuming O/C version)
    • ODD = $22
    • Case = $75
    • PSU = $55 (not listed but I'll guess), suggest paying an extra $50 and get it replace with a barnd.

    Total = $1008

So extra $20 to include assembly and 1 year RTB warranty seems fairly decent.

    • -1

Also what was the shipping cost from PCCG?

My experience is they are a complete ripoff for shipping to Sydney metro…

      • Best to add the stuff to cart and put your post code in. I'm Victoria so express postage was $27 for the last full PC build I ordered.

        • Just tried

Can't find exact same parts but equivalent models - $32 shipping to 2121 from PCCG…

Which is strange given the postage cost for 1 Shinobi XL case was more than that :)

For the record. Visiontech shipping to 2121 is $25 for this system.

As a fair comparison to PCCG, Visiontech shipping to Melbourne 3000 for this system is $29…

  • +1

Did the build at MSY but with a 1TB instead of the 500GB, a similarly priced but different case, and a higher quality but lower wattage PSU and it came out at $1070 including build fee or $1000 if you build yourself.

This is an OK price but unless you were already looking at buying this exact build and had to buy it today it isn't good enough to make you want to buy it now. If that makes sense.

    EDIT Here's the build:

    Intel i5-3470 3.2/3.6GHz $193.00
    AsRock Z77-Extreme4 $135.00
    Corsair XMS 8GB Single DDR3-1600 $48.00
    Samsung 840 Series 250G SATA SSD $189.00
    WD 3.5" Blue 1TB WD10EZEX SATA3 64M 7200rpm HDD $67.00
LG DVD RW - SATA $19.00
    Sapphire 2GB SA-7850-2GD5-OC-V2 $214.00
    Coolermaster RC-K350-KWN1 K350 USB3.0 Gaming case w/Side window $51.00
Antec HCG-520 High Current Gamer Gaming PSU $83.00
    Build Fee $70
    Total $1,069 inc GST

  • So as above I did the same parts in PCCG and it came to $1008. Which then is +$99 for custom build (which I don't think they do anymore since it's SOLD OUT) +postage. So for the exact parts this is cheaper, not by a lot but the margin on PC parts isn't that big.

Now, I don't think the system is worth the money in terms of the components. This option from PCCG (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&c…) is MUCH better in my opinion at $935.

Comes with 2TB hdd instead of 500GB (no SSD but add $99 for a 120GB Samsung), Gigabyte HD7850 OC, 2x4GB instead of 1x8GB (dual-channel goodness), and comes with Windows 7 Home Premium (or Windows 8).

    • Agreed, choice of SSD + HDD in this system is a little odd. HDD is 5400rpm when 7200rpm drive is the same price? Plus, I'd gladly sacrifice 1/2 SSD capacity for 4x HDD capacity.

    • Can't agree with paying for the OS. Most OzBargainers would already have a spare Windows 8 license lying around using the Microsoft deal….

  • +2

    Give them a chance

    • +2

I agree. I feel a little sorry for the guy here.

Having said that, the 5400 rpm hdd and only 500gb was a bit silly.

I know he's trying to keep the headline price down, but I'd say better to give users a MUCH better system for a few dollars more…

      • +1

I agree - since when were gaming computers meant to be on the cheap side of things? That's why they're gaming computers!

      • Its a second hard drive for extra storage, who cares?

        • If you play Battlefield 3 and that isn't installed on the SSD, you will care - a LOT.

The loading time will be 10-15 seconds more per map every time compared to a 7200rpm….

The SSD is too small to take your OS plus any more than a couple of games.

Instead of the 5400rpm 500gb hdd, a 2tb 7200rpm hdd would be more than adequate for non-OS storage and would only cost about $35 more….

        • 250GB minus 30GB for Windows = 110GB per game. Can you advise which games we're talking about here?

    • Nobody has negged the deal, just pointed out that there are some things about the build that aren't ideal, and that it'd be a much more attractive offer if these were fixed.

It seems like VisionTech gets a bargain price on the Aywun PSUs which allows them to do these deals without losing money, but ultimately they're still not great quality and DIYers are a lot more aware these days of the issues of low quality PSUs. I don't see the HDD as a big issue, but again, it's not ideal.

  • This is an average price for this , its not a bad price but not that good either. Would be a stretch to call this a "bargain".

  • +2

I feel sorry for vision tech and the other PC hardware posters on here.

You guys are way too tech / online savvy there's no way anyone will pay $50 extra (or even $10 extra for that matter on here).

The average consumer of course wouldn't care less I think (and wouldnt know anyway) and would probably pay it anyway.

That being said, Ozbargain probably attracts a more savvy consumer in general.

Don't give up Vision tech, when I see something I like I will buy it, but like the others said you need to give us a little bit more of an incentive. Do you guys have the Radeon deal going at the moment where you get 2 free games with any radeon card?

Oz bargainers, thank you for posting alot of the other options and for always trying to make sure your fellow bargainers get the best deal.

  • +2

Get rid of that crappy 500GB 5400RPM HDD (those looking for a high end rig like this will just pull it) and put a brand PSU like Corsair and it's a great deal!!

You can get an external 3TB drive for next to nothing if you OB so ditch the media storage hard disk

    • The HDD isn't just for media. It's a gaming PC, and plenty of games these days are large enough that you'd fill the 250GB SSD very quickly. They don't need to be on an SSD, or a fast HDD, but I wouldn't want to run them off an external drive.

      • USB3.0 is more than capable of delivering the required bandwidth of an external mechanical HDD. I have a typical 1tb USB3.0 portable drive that has my Steam and Origin games on it and I have no problems. Read speeds typically are above 100MB/s.

The problem with this drive is it's a WD Green, which doesn't mean its a 5400rpm, but a variable RPM ie it will change between 5400-7200rpm (aka "WD IntelliPower") as it sees fit. Consequently you will often get very irregular performance as the drive changes it's mind about what speed it will run at as well as continual power saving features that mean that the drive is spun down the majority of the time, thus making that initial read that much slower.

For the above reasons I prefer Seagate Green which are a fixed 5900rpm drive.

Note: I will add that it is my belief that WD no longer make a 3.5" fixed speed 5400RPM drive anymore, it's either a Green (5400-7200), Blue(7200) or Black(7200 + demon magic).

  • Pretty good build, only would change these two:

    1. a Z77 chipset with a 3470 isn't necessary - save a bit of money and replace it with a B75 or H77
    2. use that saved money to put in a 1 to 2TB HDD
