It only uses bluetooth to send audio, like you said there is no data connection inside the USB port, it is there only for the purpose of charging. You DO NOT need to plug in the phone to send audio as it defeats the purpose. I just mentioned that in case people with older ipods without bluetooth presumed that audio will go through the usb port when plugged in.
Anyone got any experience with these compared to apple airport express'?
Obviously these use BT and airport's use wifi but how do these compare?
Bluetooth audio depends on the implementation of BT on each device, e.g the cheap ones you get on ebay will sound terrible compared to this one. Bluetooth streaming is limited to around 256kbps (not 100% sure), and with bluetooth 3.0 and 4.0 it can be higher. The airport express I heard is really good as it uses wifi and the other advantage your phone can be anywhere in the house, the only thing is it cost double the amount. I would say go with the airport express if you have the money.
What does that comment mean?
The phone sends audio via Bluetooth to the device. The demo Youtube demonstrates that you do NOT have to plug the phone in to send audio… in fact, that would completely defeat the purpose of the device LOL
Or are you trying to say that it will continue to send via Bluetooth even if you plug the phone into the USB charging port?
Or are you trying to say that it only ever uses Bluetooth, and there is no data connection inside the USB charging port (which makes sense, bacause there's absolutely no point to having a wired connection as well)?
