This is VivoTab Smart ME400C running full windows 8 version not RT

BTW this tablet offers a full desktop environment with windows 8 UI … it runs very smooth for metro apps and runs the desktop application in a decent speed … do not expect this tablet as fast as a PC but it does a great job for overall it's an amazing tablet again for what you paying for.

ask any question and i will try my best to answer :)

  • damn the temptation…
    whats the delivery cost?

also is the keyboard usually included?

    • Calculated as free shipping for me to WA. The TranSleeve keyboard is usually an optional extra.

Now if only I can get DSE to price match I could get it tomorrow ……

    • Yea it's so tempting :D

You can put your postcode in "ESTIMATED SHIPPING" and it will tell you in my area it's free shipping. But i get mine from Burwood store.

No the keyboard is not included and any Bluetooth keyboard will work perfect ;)

  • i have this. it overheated on me, but i got an exchange its been working well, and the charge hasnt screwed me over yet…… http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/93957

anyway its pretty good, i got mine at harvey norman for 492 with an E-waste reward so yeah.

the keyboard isnt dockable, its separate which is lame. i got a logitech to go with it because it has a mouse pad as well. the fold up dock im just using the folder that i bring to school :P

    • Good deal from HN but only if you got something for exchange :)

Yea you may not very lucky and got a problem but i've never see the tablet overheating before except if you are wiping the tablet to it's factory defaults and that's normal .. otherwise even on running heavy programs it's quite cool and nice.

  • Too bad is not coming with dock / kryboard

  • Are there any comparisons to show that all these posts for tablets from binglee are actually deals and not just spam?

What about UEFI / Secure Boot in the BIOS — can it be temporarily disabled to allow intallation of alternative operating systems?

I'd like to "dual boot" my Vivotab if I buy one so that I can run Linux as well as Win 8 using, say, Grub or a recovery menu system. The Asus site says it's an Intel® Atom™ Z2760 Dual-Core CPU so it should be OK to run multiple Operating Systems but ONLY if UEFI bios does not get in the way. The Asus site does not say anything about the installed bios, and a quick google search only shows me stuff about the RT version.

For those who came late :) , UEFI Bios has been mandated by Microsoft for manufacturers to get Windows 8 certification … no UEFI, no permission to ship with Win8 installed, AND Secure Boot MUST be enabled at time of shipping. Of course Microsoft doesn't say whether owners of these machines should be able to disable Secure Boot or not. They clearly hope that Secure Boot will lock owners of these new machines into a Microsoft walled garden, unable to install a competitor's operating system if they want or need to.

    • You can maybe get around this by using the Linux Hack which inserts another EFI layer to boot into their own bootloader.

There is a lot of misinformation about UEFI Secure Boot. It is compulsory for all windows 8 PCs to have an option to disable it, the method however can be different for each PC.

The TPM module is also not the same as UEFI SB, it's more of a complementary product.

You will always be able to install alternate OSs on your Win8 PC if the manufacturer is following MS guidelines.

  • if only it had the three gees, i'd be mighty tempted.
