  • whats the warranty like on international units?

    • -2

I recently read through the Samsung warranty on their US laptops and it would be void by using it here.

Also I really like these units so have kept an eye on them on ebay etc and there are a LOT of Manufacturer Refurbished units getting around, which could indicate a high failure rate or not, either way a warranty is really important.

EDIT. Don't forget the shipping to the US even if you could claim warranty..

As usual ZRXS12 you claim things without providing evidence. Samsung laptops do in fact have an international warranty as stated here for this specific model posted by the op:
        http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/warranty/NP900X3C-…

        NOTICE TO INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS

International warranty will apply only for mobile computer.

In the event that warranty service is required on your (United States purchased) Samsung Moblie Computer and you are located outside of the country, the local Samsung entity in the foreign countries listed on the website at www.samsung.com/global/notepc may be able to provide you with warranty service. Any warranty services rendered shall be in a manner consistent with the terms and conditions of the Samsung Moblie Computer Limited Warranty. Warranty services performed, if made available, may take longer than if performed in the United States. Any services rendered are not performed by Samsung Electronics America and not a part of the Samsung Mobile Computer Limited Warranty.

Customers seeking to invoke this limited warranty in a country not listed on the website at www.samsung.com/global/ notepc (which may be amended by Samsung from time to time) shall be responsible for delivery of the product to the nearest International Warranty Centre as advised by the local Samsung Helpline. The Customer shall be responsible for settling all customs fees associated with the transport, and the cost of delivery to the International Warranty Center. Samsung will pay return transport fees only. The method of shipment of the Samsung Product shall be at Samsung’s discretion. Liability for goods in transit shall be with the shipping party.

        • Yes reading that I admit I have made a mistake, I didn't actually read the warranty terms on the Samsung site but rather on a retailers site and they did not have the international clause.

May I just highlight some of the wording of the clause? That is okay isn't it?

"the local Samsung entity in the foreign countries listed on the website at www.samsung.com/global/notepc may be able to provide you with warranty service"
"Warranty services performed, if made available, may take longer than if performed in the United States."

"As usual ZRXS12 you claim things without providing evidence."
What's this supposed to mean exactly?

The quoted price is from Amazon who doesn't ship the laptop to Australia.

The only seller out of the 14 offers that does ship to Australia has the laptop itself at US$1,225.99 & charges around US$98 for shipping. Then you still have to factor in the additional 10% GST that you will have to pay once the item reaches Australian shores as the cost is >AU$1000, making the total >$1400 for the whole thing.

Almost identical model can be had here for ~ AU$1120 delivered (only difference being windows 7 instead of 8)

Other places also show lower prices according to StaticICE.

    NO DEAL.

    • plus +for the effort

    • It's actually more than ten percent for gst as there are all kinds of custom fees - check whirlpool for more info.

      2nd gen processor? really?

      • What's your point?
Did you not see that it is the same model, same specs as the OP posted or did you not bother checking?

And there's nothing wrong with the 2nd Gen if this had the high res screen I probably would have purchased it, Dell is retailing the current version with 3rd gen i5 @ $1299, the 2nd gen is less than a year old.

        • Oh sorry, I thought you compared the samsung one with your link.

        • lol
          No worries :)
