Ah countrylink trains, that wretched hive of scum and villainy. If it's like it has been 90% of the time I've been on them, I wouldn't recommend bringing along that special someone.

Nothing more romantic than a country link train.. NOT

So for the price of a ticket I can send the wife out for the day! Are these one-way?

Kidding, I'd buy the return ticket for her.

    • Nice save..

Thanks. She reads these deals so I'm covering all bases.

  • Would anyone recommend this for Sydney>Dubbo? Was thinking to do something different with the little one, but it's a 7 hour trip…and looks like the trains are about 30 years old….

    • The XPT's aren't too bad from memory. That said, the last time I road on one was about 20 years ago so they were still shiney and new back then. Dunno how well they've held up.

Bring lots to pass the time would be my only suggestion.

    • How old is your child? I have travelled on countrylink several times a year for the past 10 years (only 3 hour trips) and I would recommend booking a sleeper cabin (in the day time, sleeper cabins are three seats in their own room) if you are travelling with children or babies. It's a little bit more expensive but it is worth it for the extra room, privacy and a bathroom shared between 6 seats (two cabins).

      • My boy is 3,5..very active…good or not, iPad can keeps him entertained for a while.

Thanks for the advice on a sleeper cabin, I think during daytime they're are the "first class".

I thought it was quite cheap whit this deal…considering all the 3 of us could travel for only $150

    • Yeah I did that with a two year old and 60+ year old in-law in tow. It went ok, but you need taxis to get to the zoo and probably your accommodation.

  • mmmm… mile high club or take that special someone and rendezvous at a countrylink train toilet
