      5 star on newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147…

I got one for my gaming system. Paid $99 from MSY. Haven't had it long enough to run into any problems with it.

~3 second boot time with this :D

        windows 8?

      • 3 seconds? I have the 830 and im only getting 7s on windows 7. What are you running, dos?

        • Win8's shutdown is not same as win 7/xp, it actually hibernated except you change the default setting.

    • Best used as an OS, if you're shopping for a single drive laptop have a look for something else.

Oh and by the way MWAVE sucks for customer support.

    • It was a firmware issue which has now been resolved.

      • Its performance still isn't that great though. There are other reliable SSDs for a similar price that perform much better (eg, Sandisk Extreme), and it's nowhere near as good as the Samsung 830 (which admittedly is hard to find now).

        • Different flash types is why, the 840 should be theoretically last longer with more reads/writes.

  • Musai - 830 Series is a discontinued model and no more stock available. We do have the 840 Pro online and instock @ competitive prices.

CuteBirdy - Rest assure in regards to warranty returns for the Samsung SSD is approx. 0.01% in Australia. Which is extremely low and impressive considering the units that have been sold in a short period of time.

Also these drives are back up with a 3 years warranty. (new for old replacement policy which means you faulty drive will not be replaced with a refurbished drive).

  • Letrico - This drive is compatible with Windows 8

very bad experience with Mwave, will never buy from them

    • Seconded. They are in dire need of customer service training. But hey they're still around so I guess some people have had good experiences with them. Maybe you gotta get them on the right day :D

      • Sounds just like Telstra.

  • 840's are fine… had a couple running in machines for a couple of months… perrrrfect.

The 840 has really bad performance and is actually slower than 830 and my other Plextor M5S is much faster (840 250GB vs M5S 256GB) and the Plextor was cheaper too. Only go for the 840 Pro and if not, don't buy Samsung.

If price is not that big an issue go for the OCZ Vector 256GB - compared to it the 840 non Pro is garbage

    • "The Samsung SSD 840 120GB is an interesting product as it demonstrated extremely fast read performance coupled with relatively poor write performance in the AS SSD benchmark and our file copy tests. Yet somehow it managed to take top spot in both of our application tests."

Theyre all the bloody same. within 5% of each other.

Interesting acrticle to read up on: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5067/understanding-tlc-nand

Personally I don't think the savings of using TLC over MLC are being handed out to the consumer enough to justify the purchase.
