  • iPhone doesn't have enough space :(

Gotta delete the other free apps I got from ozb earlier!

    • Yeah same here

    • Yep, be careful, this game's 800MBs.

      • I've got 1.2gb free, but it's still telling me there's not enough space.

        • You always need a bit more to install it initially.

No game with in app purchases over $50 will ever be truly free. I for one will be staying away from this one. This looks more like baiting to me!

    • +6

And you neg the poster for this?
Bait or no bait. It's $7.49 down to FREE. Whinge whinge whinge. All take an no give. Why don't you post something useful for all of us?
      Good Job poster. Great find.

      • -2

I negged with a reason (unlike others on this site). A game that requires that many in app purchases is worrying. My neg can act as a warning to people and you and others are happy to vote this up all you like. These games always go free for a period as bait advertising.

        • +5

Have you actually ever played any of the games with in-app purchases? It's mostly all to fast track all the good unlocks etc, rather than limit any gameplay..

So if you're a pre-teen with ADHD and can't be bothered playing through a game and just want the unlocks, then burn through your parents credit card.. the rest of us will game on, as per usual..

        • -1

Yep played heaps. I have no problem with them, but usually the upgrades are sub $5. However when some in app purchases are over $50 it is concerning. Smurfs is another game that gets warnings off many people for expensive in app purchases, but I have not played smurfs.

        • U're wrong when you say that "It's mostly all to fast track all the good unlocks". I don't care about the credits, I just want those Valkyrie supernova things. App free + 10.49 for a bigger story isn't very fair.
I understand the guy who originally posted the start to this reply-chain or whatever u wanna call it. He's completely right: it's a bait into making u purchase the iap's. whether you should really stay away from it for this reason is a different matter entirely, though.

        • +1

As I understand it, you get the game, Galaxy on Fire 2 HD for 'free'.. If you want further missions, more weapons etc, then feel free to buy the upgrade.. I don't see how it's bait.. there's nothing stopping you from enjoying all the free content.. You get a $7.49 game for free, it's not like you download it, and as soon as you click the play button, you're prompted to pay for the upgrade.

        • Though people have highlighted they get "harassed" in game to buy more stuff for it. http://upload.ozbargain.com/2013/02/07/10690_image.jpg

Sounds like a game with advertising!

        • -2

The only one that's doing the harassing is you.. don't like the bargain? Then neg and move on..

      • +1

@icollected You have posted one deal with three likes and you make that comment? All take and no give you say?

    • +4

If you won't be 'sucked in' to downloading a FREE game, I'm sure you won't be 'sucked in' to paying $50 for in-game items etc.

      • Check out the iTunes App Store "Top Grossing iPhone Apps". The top 10 are all "free" apps, yet people must be spending up big on in app purchases as high as $109!

Would be interested to hear from people if this "free" app is really worth the normal $7.49 price. There are a lot of great apps for less. Don't get me wrong a free app is great but is it really worth $7.49 as they suggest? Or with the in app purchases and in game upgrade advertising should it really be a $0.99 - $2.99 app?

        • +2

Just restrict the in app purchase in setting, Not everyone pay for in app purchase. I've bough many games, but never pay for in app purchase. So this is a good post for me.
Eg free HDMI cable sucks too? Because you may buy something else when you get your free cable.

        • @Stevelo The free HDMI cable would not pop a message on the screen every time you watch a video to ask if you wanted to purchase surround sound or upgrade to high definition.

  • Here is another free iOS app. Down from $5.49

CarTunes Music Player by Ryan Oksenhorn

  • Thanks Op, I've been waiting for this to come down in price! Cheers

  • Still waiting for Android price drop :(

  • Got this game for 99c a while back.
All I now need is for the iap to go down lol. Doubt it's gonna happen though :(

    • -2

Talk to Vladdo, as he mentions above he doesn't think you need any in app purchases. Unless you are a "pre-teen with ADHD"

  • i finished the original GoF2 non-HD version already and then bought the additional missions… anyone know if those additional missions are compatible with this? gut feeling is no.

    • gah. nevermind. looks like Valkyrie HD is different than Valkyrie… carry on.

  • A plus even though I dont have android. The game was on my N8 and then N9.
    Superb

  • Been playing a bit of this at work today - very cool.

  • Addictive game. thanks OP
