    Good price!

  • This will go great with my free socks

    • i don't see the resemblance?

      • hmm…maybe he's using it as an ineffective case…Ozbargainers

I have 1TB Seagate expansion portable HDD. Not that impressive, pretty bulky as compared to other compact 2.5" HDDs

    • this one looks fairly slim though, I agree though I got a 1GB one and its bulky as, my Asus transformer TF201 wont read the 1gb one, any know if it'll read this one? it reads seagate 320GB drives :)

      • Check the weight, its 0.27 KG. Normally the slim portable ones weigh around 130-140 gms, approximately half than Seagate expansion portable HDDs. I bought a Hitachi Touro (Western Digital Company) 1TB 2.5" USB 3 for 84$ from MSY, which is pretty light and compact.

The model ending 300 is the bulky one, the model ending 301 is the thin one. I went to great lengths to return the 300 after I bought it realising it was quite a bit chunky.

OW don't care which one they sell you as despite the manufacturer's part number being different it's in their system as the same SKU. Same price to them so ask for the thin one (or do your own research and pick it out).

  • Linky, as OP has stated price not effective until 7th Feb

  • Anyone know what size drive is in there.2.5" or 3.5" ??

    • Portable= USB powered= 2.5"

    It's a Seagate, wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole.

If I could show you the pile (mountain?) of dead Seagates here that are a month or two out of manufacturer's warranty…

    • They were so good over a decade ago. But also very expensive

    • @bazzaa
Are you saying that HDD will only last for 37 or 38 months? ( O )

      • well, if the HDD runs at top RPM and is constantly at the upper temp threshold.. you will be surprised if it lasted a year. that's why SAN arrays have massive cooling built in.

you can offload them to me for free, I like taking apart HDDs.

  • Would prefer if 'external disk' posts followed the convention:

Desktop = external disk, external power supply
    Portable = USB powered external

  • It this a 9mm drive that can be used in laptops?

  • Better than the $39 Imation 320GB deal?

    • No, do the math.

  • +1

    omg it's the portable version.

    great deal.

  • why do people bother with these when 1tb ones are better value? it's no bargain imo

    • +1

if you've just got a couple of 100 MB, too much for memory sticks but not enough to go over 500MB. Then this is your cheapest option. If you haven't got a heap to put on this, chances are by the time you fill it 3TB will be $80.

$84 for 1TB from MSY is slightly "better value", but this is cheaper, i.e. $36 less out of your pocket.

because you can have 2 copies of p0rn instead of 1 copy…. its called backup. ;)
