I have been searching for some cheap, semi-disposable headphones to use while I'm away, and came across these JVCs on Amazon.

They seem to offer great bang-for buck!

According to owners, their sound can be improved further by modification of the ear cups, as well as stuffing of the driver enclosure (see above threads, or search for "jvc ha rx700 mods"

    I got a reject shop pair one day when I forgot my normal earphones (Vsonics for those interested) and had a 3 hour train trip ahead. I seem to take them everywhere now and my god they are terrible, I hate them. Still, one happy buyer here!

        The wire came out of the plug. They lasted a very long time for earphones. Finally found the Apple ones that came with my iPhone, nowhere near as good as the Vsonics but far better than the Reject Shop variety.

    Meh. For me it means headphones that cost about this much. Headphones that have a quality that is acceptable but ones you don't really care if they don't last more than a few months…
