I just recieved an email from dodo saying gas is available in victoria not just electricity
electricity saving is increased from 20% to 30% on bundled signup for gas, the gas discount is 20% pay on time
i am an electricity customer already and just tried to sign up online to no avail
their power and gas phone sales is available monday to friday 8am till 11pm
Unlike phone stuff…all they do is just bill u so unless theyr more expensive in comparison…dont see the problem with using dodo o.O
I've had nothing but billing problems with them. They have saved my credit card info and billed to it several times even though I have told them to remove my info and use direct debit, and when they used direct debit they still billed my card at the same time!
That's why I now avoid them :)
(Not to mention I am still waiting for a refund weeks later)
I've had that happen to me with several phone/power companies in the past, amongst other scams. now I am more older and wiser, I always change my credit card / debit card 2-3 times per year, just ring up and tell them you lost it. they will check your details and send you a new card in the mail within a few days, and you have a new number. no-one can bill your old number ever again.
incidentally, Direct Debit can be more tricky to cancel and once they have your signature, they can keep billing you even after you request a cancellation from your bank.

Even if you don't go to dodo, let your current provider know that there's a better offer out there and see if they will match or beat it.
I tried that with Origon and a few others, they would not even match the deal and I had been with Origon for years.
My current agreement with Australian Power and Gas is that they will beat any other offer.
I'm with dodo for internet, got a random call 2 weeks ago pushing the 30% and 20% deal on elec and gas respectively. Much better rates than I get now, but as others have commented maybe see what your current supplier can do.
Have been with Dodo Electricity for more than a year, no problems. Yes Os call centre, but good to deal with. Every one who comes to my door selling power is unable to beat them and now I get 30% off now for electricity ( as per this thread ) and 20% off gas. Pay on time the only thing but who cares it's just an auto deduction from my CC. Find me a better deal and I am happy to go for it.
30% and 20% off the same standard rates nothing to sneeze at.
there's no such thing as standard rates.
The energy companies all have various inflated "standard rates" then give you a discount.
The biggest catch is often the supply/connection charge.
But having said that, if you haven't got solar, then Dodo does appear to be the cheapest if you sign up for 2yrs.

I have a dodo account. So far I can't say I can really fault them. I was hesitant signing up with them but at the end of the day it only costs 30 dollars to break contract with them and that goes down every month. So I figured if they were bad I could just jump ship.
However I try my hardest not to get into contracts with anything.

on a different note, I have just connected with dodo internet - usb modem $39 from Dick Smith - and it is absolutely Crap! I do not reccommend this to anyone, I thought I would try because it was cheaper choice, but it constantly cuts out and connection is sloooow. Is bad.
Their billing system is S**T
You have to pay monthly based on their estimate not yours
you have to pay direct debit and then they charge you a $1 direct debit fee
When the usual quarterly/bi-monthly bill comes you have to pay the difference
if you leave, they take up to 120 days to return any money you are owed back to you
AVOID DODO!!
Red energy is Cheaper anyways.. as their discount is on the whole bill.. not just the usage.
I wouldn't touch DoDo even if I was paid to.
