Brentsbits - HDMI Adapters $2.90 Micro/Mini USBOTG Cables $2.45 Nano Sim Adapter Kits $1 + More

380

Hi folks, me again. I haven't posted anything in a while cause it was pointed out to me I was getting a little spammy, so I stopped for a bit and waited to get lots of stock of stuff that sold out in an hour (all the stuff in the title) as well as some new stuff in. The link goes directly to my eBay store, there's plenty there, all priced as cheap as they can be.

You can see everything I have at http://stores.ebay.com.au/brentsbits

Some highlights:

Nano SIM Adapter Kits - Convert a nano or micro sim to any larger size, great for those Woolies/Coles $30 SIM Kit offers
HDMI Adapters - Mini, Micro and Right Angle Adapters - lots of stock of these
USB OTG Cables - Both Mini and Micro versions (see, I do listen to feedback!)
Lightning Cables for under $3 - I have about 500 or so of these available at the moment
SATA Cables - Both Right Angle and Straight Connectors

There's plenty of other stuff too and it's all available until sold out. None of this "Only 50 available at this price" crap.

Some say that because it's my normal price it's not a bargain, I just price it as cheap as I can and get as many as I can afford in stock :-)

Any questions, comments or feedback, post in this thread, or if you are shy you can message me privately here or on eBay.

PS: For those who asked, brentsbits.com.au is currently being revamped, it's not really working at the moment but will be up and running soon (as soon as the web guy gets it sorted)

  • Please stay away from these guys… Ordered mini hdmi but got email that they made a mistake and sent micro hdmi instead of mini. They asked me to send it back (for $2 item) or just keep what they have sent… now they are out of stock… Now i am just hoping they will refund… Not worth it…

    • +1

Seems redundant, usually some places would let you have it as it's just not cost effective to get it back.

      • These were the options given to me in their email for sending wrong item

        1. Return the adapter to me for a full refund. If you choose this option, I will process the refund immediately as a show of good faith to hopefully make up for a small portion of the inconvenience.
        2. Return the adapter and I will ship you the correct adapter WHEN the new stock arrives. It has been ordered but will be at least a couple of weeks before it arrives.
        3. Keep the adapter and no action is required by either of us
        • +1

You could have given him a -ve feedback in ebay and forget about item.

        • I am genuinely curious for the future (hopefully I never do this again) but is there another option I should have offered perhaps?

For those that weren't part of this debacle, that's not the full email either, the full email included a mea culpa and a full explanation of my screwing things up.

        • -5

Negative feedback is a very big deal for traders on ebay and while I certainly don't suggest that people should shy away from it, it would also be a good thing if they thought before doing it. In my mind (and maybe I am the odd duck here) it's there for the kind of thing where you have had a poor transaction and the seller has done nothing to try and resolve the problem.

I have had people negative feedback in the past when they haven't even tried to get in touch to give me a chance to try and fix it up.

Anyway, that's a smidgen off topic. My point is, if you are unhappy, let me know, I always try and fix things up as best I can.

        • +13

          Hey mate,

          I know what you mean.
I'm an ebay trader myself, And if I make a mistake, I will let the buyer keep the item and get a refund. I have done this for up to $15 items.

If YOU are making the mistake, I can't believe you are making him pay return postage, for YOUR own mistake!!

No wonder you got negative feedback…

Also prices aren't great, A whopping 5c cheaper on the OTG Cable and you have had this item listed on ebay for this price for months, so no deal.

        • +7

"I am genuinely curious for the future (hopefully I never do this again) but is there another option I should have offered perhaps?"

In the case where it was your error, perhaps the first option given to the buyer

"Return the adapter to me for a full refund. If you choose this option, I will process the refund immediately as a show of good faith to hopefully make up for a small portion of the inconvenience"

          should have been

"Return the adapter to me for a full refund. If you choose this option, I will process the refund immediately as a show of good faith and refund your return postage cost as the item was supplied incorrectly"

          or even more logically

"Please keep the incorrectly supplied part and I will send the correct part as soon as it arrives in stock".

Does it even make sense to refund postage costs on such a cheap item?

        • +6

Agreed. Why should buyer pay postage/be out of pocket when wrong item sent is not their fault? They also are inconvenienced by having to go to post office; most internet buyers wish to avoid going to retail store, and that's why they order online.

Seller should take it on the chin and send a return mail envelope, refund the shipping cost, or tell buyer to keep item and send correct item.

For faulty items, seller should pay postage. Else, advertised price is no longer accurate for the buyer, and item is no longer a 'bargain.'

If I screw up my customer always comes out ahead on ebay.

After all it's my mistake I don't want the customer to think that's how I operate, I want them to be happy to shop with me another day.

        • Hmm, that's probably a good idea. I will actually put that policy into place now. Cheers for that.

        • +2

Good comments and fair enough. New policy is now in place :-)

        • +3

Just got a reply from Brent. I was sent the wrong item as well (micro-HDMI instead of mini-HDMI). I thought it would have been a hassle to go to the post office, write my reason for return etc, but Brent sent me a message saying to keep the wrong item and he'll send out the right one. Definitely a positive vote from me and will shop from you again. Good customer service wins loyal customers :)

        • +3

Thanks mate, much appreciated. I'm not perfect and haven't been seriously ebaying for long. I'm always happy to take suggestions (as long as they aren't anatomically impossible) and improve :-)

        • +1

Good ebay sellers (selling less than $10 items):

          1. If wrong item sent, email then the item pic and they send you new item with apology you dont send the item back as postage is more than the cost.
          2. If correct item and it does not work, most of the sellers do refund.
            Few of them :
            a) send them pic again in case it is HDMI cable, not working and they do full refund.
            b) Destroy the item and send them the pic and they send you bran new one.

          3. If you don't receive the item ( post or wrong address or lost), they either send it again or refund the money.

But I do understand few buyers might blackmail sellers and vice versa, so always check the feedback of sellers and then buy.

    • Hi there, sorry to hear you had a bad experience. As I mentioned in that email, it was an honest mistake. A stupid mistake as well but still an honest one.

Did you get back in touch with me after receiving the email? I had a number of people raise the same concern and I offered to reimburse them for the return postage.

I don't shy away from the fact that I screwed up and tried to fix it as best I could.

The out of stock thing was purely because I had actually ordered micro ones and advertised them as mini ones in error. I wasn't trying to purposely sell more than I had stock of, again it was an honest mistake.

If you'd care to drop me an email, perhaps I can still address your concerns regarding this transaction.

    • +1

Would not recommend the confusing +contradictory "micro D type" connector ebay description either, but from a cursory appearance brent's other inventory don't look bad value for local stock with presumably faster delivery.

Not entirely sure but i think Totals: $1.35 from the guys in HK might be the cheapest HDMI China tablet adapter on the planet, or you might hedge your bets and go ($2.04USD)Mini+Micro?

      • +1

gah, ffs, I thought I had straightened all that out. I must have used one of the old, non-corrected auctions to list. Just fixed it up now. Thanks for pointing it out to me, again.

As to the chinese pricing, I don't claim to be cheaper than them, my thing is that I offer stuff very cheap and it ships locally, from local stock in Melbourne :-)

      • Somewhat better, but properly should read 'Type C' or 'Mini C' to eliminate potential confusion, taking note of the Chinese seller's wording.
A keen effort though and hopefully you offload a dozen.

    • You're an ass if you neg over a $2 item when a refund/compensation is offered. Make it neutral at most. It is an incredibly cheap product and errors/mistakes are made. eBuyers don't realise how detrimental negative feedback is in any capacity. I would ban you immediately from my ebay account.

Thanks for offering your bits to us for a good price Brent. Pos for you

    • +1

      My pleasure :-)

  • bretbits, i bought one adapter from ebay and got sent the wrong one (micro vs mini).

can you point out which one is your stock : micro-HDMI terminal (type D)?
i want to use this with pentax Q
this is the picture of the camera.
    http://i46.tinypic.com/b54qkx.png

    • I got the wrong one too, that was after contacting the seller when it hadn't arrived after 3 weeks. As I have nothing that uses a micro HDMI it will just sit in a drawer.

      • let me know your user id and I will send out another one, no extra charge or having to return the other one (new policy at the suggestion of someone further up the thread)

        • Hey brentsbits. My girlfriend bought an iPhone 5 cable from u from eBay based on my recommendation via Ozbargain. It stopped working after couple of days and when she asked you if you would pay postage this was the reply you gave:

          Hi there,

This is again covered in our returns policy, the buyer pays for shipping back to me, I cover the return postage. Just like if you purchased in a shop, you would need to go back to the shop :-)

          Cheers,

          Brent

          • brentsbits

Makes me feel like a mug for recommending you.

          *edited for spelling

        • I don't think that that is too far out of line. It was working, then it wasn't, fair enough. If you bought something from Harvey Norman (for a lot more money) and it broke. Would you ask them to come and get it from you? I am happy to replace it, no problems at all.

Also, it does actually say as part of the returns policy in each listing that returns are accepted and that the buyer pays the return postage.

Can you tell me, honestly, how my position is unreasonable? When it's clearly stated up front?

I am happy to be accommodating (although you won't agree I am sure) but although I want my customers to be as happy as possible, the line needs to be drawn somewhere. If something doesn't work, isn't it reasonable that I get it back to check it out? I'm covering the postage of sending the new one back out as well.

I am genuinely puzzled as to how this constitutes bad service.

EDIT: The new policy referred to in the comment that you responded to is for something else completely. Where I completely screwed up and needed to make it right. This is a different scenario.

        • She says she buys online so she doesn't have the hassle of going to a store. Items just end up in her mailbox. When she orders online from other ebay sellers and item dies, they always pay for postage back, because it was through no fault of her own.

Say the next one that is sent is also faulty. How many times does she have to pay for postage before she gets one that works? The price of the item (which she pointed out to me was not the cheapest on ebay) increases by whatever the postage is.

I agree with you, she should definitely return the item if it is faulty. But I also agree with her to some extent. Sixty cents each time she posts a faulty product adds up to not a bargain. And I gave her the recommendation based on my ozbargain-ness.

Wish I kept my mouth shut haha.

        • I do see your point. Honestly, even though it's not stated anywhere, if I gave someone a second faulty product in a row, I'd do something more to make it right to be honest. The feedback on my ebay profile should suggest that the products I send out are of good quality and that any dodgy ones are the exception rather than the rule.

Believe me, I do see that it's a hassle and we all like a bargain but my puzzlement (which started during my time working for Jetstar) comes from seeing that the less people pay for something the more they expect from it. I'm not suggesting that that means she should suck it up or anything of the sort (don't think I am saying that). While it may be true that she shops online for the convenience, sometimes things don't quite work out and then recourse needs to be taken, in the particular case it's via the returns policy that's stated on the listing.

          Is that unfair?

        • +1

I don't know if it's fair or not. I guess she's used to dealing with different kinds of sellers, with different return policies for faulty goods. Really, she should have read the returns policy (or I should have, before recommending it to her).

So I guess I will be the one returning it next week. Haha. Expect something in the mail shortly.

Let's hope the new one is a good one, else I could be on dishwashing duty until Christmas. :P

          Cheers mate.

        • If it's not a good replacement, make sure to tell me it's the second one and I will sort something out cause two in a row just wouldn't be cricket in any way shape or form and would constitute a failure in sourcing quality product on my part rather than just bad luck :-)

        • Will do.

    • Some quick googling and a look at the picture suggests that it's a micro because the minis are quite a lot larger than that.

  • Rep, do you have an adaptor to convert DVI to HDMI?

    • Not at the moment, I was actually looking to get them in my next shipment of goods, which will be at least a couple of weeks away due to the Chinese Spring Festival, everything shuts down for two weeks.

      • No worries. Hope the next deal you post it here includes the DVI to HDMI adaptor.

  • +1

Frankly if OzBargain is going to list every ebay seller of small items like this it's going to get flooded. Seems the prices are ok, but not spectacular, so I don't think the listing is worthy. Most people would know to look on ebay for this kind of thing.

So unless you have a particularly keenly priced item keep off OzBargain please.

    • +2

      Agreed.

    • +2

Hmmm, well my posts have been quite well received in the past, the prices are lower or equal to others (where it's possible, $1 is the minimum you can actually sell for on eBay) and I try and keep it that way. As well as offering the local shipping benefit.

This posting has been quite well received, at least judging from the throughput of orders that have been made, so it just goes to show, what isn't good for one is good for another.

If you aren't keen on my offers, fair enough, all my posts will have Brentsbits at the beginning of the subject so you won't be 'fooled' into clicking on it.

  • Thanks Brent. Bought a few bits from you just now and got a +ve from you almost instantly on eBay.

Positive to you my good sir.

    • It's an option to leave feedback automatically either on receipt of payment or upon receiving positive feedback, you can have a whole heap of stored comments that it randomly selects from.

      • Shhhhh! don't let our secrets out! :-)

Damn you! I thought I was getting great customer service! lol

Sorry, I just use one feedback comment now.

          I'm sure you are :)

My experience with micro HDMI adapters is that they don't work well, because the slightest movement causes the pins not to align. With a big heavy HDMI cable plugged into one of them the force being applied to the port is larger than a normal Micro-HDMI-to-HDMI cable (which are only a few dollar anyway), so it ends up at an angle much faster.

    • Good to know that. Thanks! Will probably look out for a cable instead.

    • My experience with micro HDMI adapters is that they don't work well, because the slightest movement causes the pins not to align.

Darn, I wish you'd posted this before I ordered. Not to worry, if we have problems I'll at least know where to start looking for the problem.

  • +1

Bought a OTG cable off you the other day and it arrived very promptly. Thanks, Brent! :)

    • My pleasure :-) Glad to hear you had a good experience

  • +2

I have ordered from BBits twice and shipping and price were spot on both times. I have lost the OTG adapter already (but cannot work out how to blame the rep for that).

Many thanks - keep it up. Dave

    • Well, it just so happens I have more in stock :-)

      • Ordered….!!!!

AND then found the old one - sigh! :)

  • +2

Was going to buy one of these but saw the negative comments.

Impressed however with the vendors response. Gonna buy one now.

  • Thanks Brent - got the MICRO-OTG unit I ordered last week.

    • Great :-) Glad to be of service

  • Good price! I paid $3.95 for the same MicroHDMI adapter from eBay.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130747582273?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

But you've got the word "mini" written in the description Brent.

  • I don't mean to be rude or anything but these prices don't really seem that special to me.

    • They aren't, globally. … Consider if the stock were not bits, but a thousandfold more expensive e.g: a TV, there could be a much harder story to pull off that '$2900'. Just here, the 2.90value item is disposed rather readily & without too much scrutiny over prices/detail.

    • That's fair enough, what I try and do is have the cheapest (where possible) locally stocked item prices. China will always be cheaper because of the postage discounts that they get. I am not 100% sure whether it's because the government subsidises postage or something else (I have heard various theories) but as it stands they will always be able to ship cheaper. However it takes a while to arrive.

So, I try and have it stocked locally, try and have prices as close to theirs as I can (and still remain viable in a business sense) and provide the shorter shipping times of a locally posted product.

Stuff still goes astray and "disappears" in Australia Post so it's not always there within a couple of days but it will be there faster generally, that's what I try and do.

For local products, my prices are quite low on the majority of my products. Some of them I can't price any lower ($1 minimum for buy it now items on eBay) but I do what I can.

  • Your description for the lightning adapter is odd. Can it charge an iPhone 5?

    • Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier, OzBargain didn't notify me of any updates. Yes it can indeed charge an iPhone 5. Lightning is specifically for iPhone 5 and also the iPad Mini
